  • On a beautiful autumn Saturday I take my bike for a five-minute stroll down Storrow Drive. These famously awful Boston drivers were on their best behavior--no honking, no screaming, everybody working and playing well with others.

That bicycle path is an example of how you don't design them. People think enough to separate cars and people yet don't do the same with bicycles and people. It should have two clearly marked sides one for walking and one for bikes so no one has to worry about hitting someone.
Overall an A+ video thanks for sharing it with me.

Agreed. Pedestrians don't deserve to share a path with vehicles, human powered or not. They are the least respected imo when it comes to infrastructure and are hurt the most in a car centric society.

Great example of being on a 3 lane road! Excellent speed too, def not good to be on the bike path at that speed.

That Garmin VIRB camera has hit the ground so many times. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I use GoPro Heros now and keep the Garmin for special 360-degree footage.

A nice boring video of a commute on a bike, just like it should be.

You can't be biking on Storrow drive. It's a limited access parkway. I just responded to your other video.

First of all, it's not all limited access, especially at the Leverett Circle end where there is plenty of side street access. Second of all, the MA law (Chapter 85 Section 11B) states that bicycles are allowed on all public ways except limited access and express state highways "where signs SPECIFICALLY prohibiting bicycles have been posted". The word "specifically" is key. When you take an on-ramp onto I-95 or I-93 or parts of Route 1, you see those signs that specifically prohibit bikes, horses, and pedestrians. Fine, I can't go there and I don't go there. But there is no such sign anywhere on or near Storrow Drive and the CARS ONLY signs don't cut it for two reasons: (1) they don't specifically prohibit bicycles, and (2) their purpose is to keep tall vehicles off Storrow Drive. However, what you DO see posted at every Storrow entrance are signs that prohibit trucks and busses.

A bicycle is not a motorized vehicle and should stay off the streets. So selfish when you hold up traffic. Sad 😢

LOL it's so funny you talking like you know about stuff when you clearly don't. Do you want me to get off your lawn too?
