First time
Yeah, I think we gon’ call this one the First Time
Brucie B voice
First time you heard Nas
Was you earlin’ on some gut rot liquor on two-five
Or your big brother put you on like “surprise”
Hearing my hood described
So vivid you could see it by closing your eyes
Maybe it was the age or the letters I wrote
When jail letters were hope
You read the credits and you saw Large Pro
Or some decrepit club where DJ S&S had buzz
I stepped on the stage with imperfections
I was messing up, or her first time
Inside a Subaru, she just had a feud with her boo
They drivin’ he put on Barbeque, and I got through to you
A dude who, I saw rockin’ FUBU outside Papaya’s
Told me Halftime was timeless while Armor All’n his tires
I was tryin’ to juggle Columbia Records
While dealin’ with what the country Colombia jungles had left us First time you heard of Nas I prolly was under some pressure Gun in the dresser while you was baggin’ up in the kitchen playin’ my records
Your first time was you hittin’ the gas
In the whip with some a**, you never hit and she passed
Your real music test to know if she into the ad libs
Real rap sh*t
Yeah
First time you heard Nas
You probably heard somebody say that I pick bad beats
But I pick bad freaks
Narratives they runnin’ with
The classics they comin’ with
Ain’t fu*kin’ with what I recorded last week
For new guys, hope this the first time you heard Nas
It’s a special moment
A million reasons I wrote it
My sh*t will get you re-centered cuz you can tell where my soul is The one I’m chosen, like Bryce and Bronny their Pop ball
So they had to do it
My dad did music I had to pursue it
And spread my wings on the helipad like Troop did
The truth is, a similar thing had happened to me
I listen to Wayne, I listen to G, I listen to Dre, I listen to me
Since when did rap leave me so suspended in air
Since Kendrick entered the atmosphere, 0-9 I was there
On La Cienega
My n*gga from LA said there’s a n*gga from Black Hippy
I was happy to just witness history
Like the first time I heard Slick Rick
How did you feel?
(First time you heard Nas)
First time hearing Biggie
I’m like “Who’s this kid? Wow!”
(First time you heard Nas)
When I heard Pac
That was on that song with, uh, Digital Underground like
(First time you heard Nas)
Yeah, that was crazy
I really hope that this your first time
It’s somethin’ ‘bout
First time hearing your favorite artist
How they become to be your favorite artist after like a long time or
Or it’s instantaneous like
I know when the first time I heard Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder
Like NWA what the f*ck is sh*t kid?
I was goin’ crazy

“I was trying to juggle Columbia records while dealing with what the country Columbia jungles had left us”. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That part🔥
Nas is putting out classic after classic and the media is talking about Jay Z’s one verse. It’s no surprise because he bought all the media and force rappers to call him the 🐐. Nas is the greatest of all time period.
💯🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾 The power is still with the people not the media. "Sooner or later we'll all see who the prophet is" -Nas

Man.. Nas literally made a song about nostalgia while making you feel nostalgic about nostalgia… Genius 🐐🔥
I played it for my lil brother today and his friend, they both born in the 2000s and are MAD at how good illMATIC is😂❤
I am 63 and just discovered NAS and man, sometimes the best gold you find is when you old... thank you Nas... I got so much catching up to do and loving every minute doing so
Go straight to Illmatic after this
Maaaan, you late. Nas done passed his time long time ago. He’s coming backwards big steps to bless us the fans and the industry.
Nas is just different like I am
Dope comment
Welcome to the crib
So dope family.
First time I heard Nas was when I picked up his Illmatic album in 2019. I'm a young'un at 19, but when I heard those train tracks and the opening dialogue, I knew I was in for a story.
Truthfully, I did not understand much of the word's meaning the first time I heard them. I'm glad I chose to re-listen until I understood the genius.
Ain't never stopped since that day. Listening to the God MC for more than 3 years daily now! Can't get tired! 👑❤️
Same here man, only really started listening last year and have to come back everytime he drops an album
Bro, the first album I ever bought was Illmatic, back in '94 when it came out. I was twelve years old & I had no idea what he was talking about either, but there was a special vibe to it. It's great to see the younger dudes appreciating that vibe now too. It's a special occasion every time this man drops something.
Good shit yungn!!! Ahead of the curb
Look on RUclips for nas bootleg " I am double album " if you never heard it . If you wasn't outside summer of 1998 you haven't heard that version . it's gonna be some shit on there you won't find anywhere else . 💯
Heard Life's a Bitch in 94' and that was it!! Been my #1 rapper of all time since that day...
whats crazy about nas is his voice still sounds the same as the 90s. most rappers voice change a lot like eminems. nas sounds just as good. with the right beats nas is a legend
"Since Kendrick entered the atmosphere, '09, I was there"
True story🫡
❤Real recognized real
💪🏿💪🏿
Nas is just the Michael Jordan of hip hop bro. Dude is just amazing. This KD3 album sounds like a juice made from Life is good and KD2 . Crazy album. Pure East coast, boom bap sound. Great album for sure
So accurate
Damn what a description..."like a juice made from LIG and KD2". Yo that's fire and true!
add it was written & Street disciples
Boom bap for sure 👌 I appreciate the Art myself this Golden
As someone from BK who has that East Coast boom bap sound in my soul and veins... KD3 is like a gift from god... the Joey Badass album 2000 is also a modern day boom bap masterpiece... 2022 was a legendary year for HH... HH forever
I’ve probably cried like 4 times listening to this. The nostalgia pulls at my heart strings and the fact that Nas is still creating at this level makes me all the more emotional. We’ll probably never witness this again. 🙏🏾
ATL
Wow. This song got me through a rough spot. You explained so well how this song made me feel.
Spread my wings on a Helipad like Troop did. 🔥🔥🔥
The whole album was a solid 10/10
Easily the best album of the trilogy
Nas is true Hiphop . Masterpiece
No lies detected! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Had to delete my comment because I wrote the same thing
No question!
@@finalround7154 The point is that we all are on the same page. There are people right now that are still sleeping on Nas... luckily we're all here celebrating one of the GOATS.

Why is this making me shed tears. Nas is the best man...
I really wish he would've put AZ on this he would've floated on this beat

facts
Nas has always been my goat. This is my era. It's beautiful. Feasting.
My favorite of the album so far 👑
this song is so beautiful. For someone in his position to reminisce on the past greats and to celebrate newer artists is just wonderful.
My first time hearing Nas is 1996 and It Was Written was the first album by him I owned. I was 13 years old and just a fan of all hip hop east Midwest south and west. But that album I couldn't get tired of and I played it constantly. Fast forward 26 years later and this shit is mind blowing. Smh damn instant classic with this one
These "old" rappers are aging like... well, that's the thing. The greats AREN'T aging!
Great album, King!
Nas is the truth
I'm fortunate to say I've been listening to the Greatest Lyricist Ever, Nasir Jones, for 26 years of my life!!!
First time I heard Nas, was on the radio when Ether dropped. I was 8 years old. (I'm 30, now) But Nas made me OFFICIALLY fall in love with Hip-Hop, when I was 14, traveling around Pennsylvania with my friend (brother), working a sketchy job for my neighbor. We took a long ride from Pennsylvania to the Bronx, to drop off whatever we were collecting, when my brother had his MP3. I was burning the battery & hogging it, with One Mic on repeat. It was the first time I really could close my eyes & vividly see stories to a rap song, without even knowing what the video looked like-especially the shootout scene he verbally painted. The video wasn't far from what I visualized. He's been G.O.A.T.'d in my eyes ever since.
"bus stop glass bursts, a fiend drops his heineken, ricocheting between the spots that I'm hiding in." Nas paints pictures with words so masterfully.
@@kayodeodusanya5751 When he broke down the mathematics of how many bullets were in his gun, vs. how many goes into your crew..... I LOST it. 🔥🎙️ Never heard something of that caliber, before.
" You probably heard somebody say I pick bad beats but I pick bad freaks"🤣🔥🔥🔥
Shoutout to my older brother for putting me on 💯
The King’s Disease Trilogy (and Magic) just put Nas in a whole different atmosphere. Nas & Hit-Boy left an indelible mark 🔥🔥🔥
Illmatic was and is perhaps the greatest album ever, and he was so young when he did it. I listened to it for a decade.
Fantastic song.
I had some goosebumps listening to this.
Give this man his flowers while he still here

First time I heard Nas I cried and here we go again #king #nas #legit #memories #firsttime
First time I heard Nas, I was with my father, he was playing me music I never heard before. When he played "The world is yours", my world changed from there.
storytelling at it's finest 😩🔥🔥
One of the hardest songs on here
The beat on this is magical

Is that a sample? Sounds like All This Love
I know Young Chris and Wale used this sample on yellow flag. This is a more scaled down version. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This guy....simply great
Nas...You started the resuscitation. Kendrick kept breathing life into it. Hip Hop is not dead! 😌 Still alive and well. Thank you 😍
First time I heard Nas was while I was playing NBA 2K13, Jay-Z curated the soundtrack and “The World Is Yours” came on and I was instantly hooked. Listened to Illmatic and it changed the way I listened to music and made me a much deeper fan of rap (especially more lyrically-driven artists) aside from the mainstream.
The King came through for us. For the last 3 years Nas has been holding it down for Hip Hop. Legend!
I can’t remember the first time I heard Nas. I jus remember his tapes playing all throughout my childhood, my teens , early 20s all the way til now ... I remember being 11 or 12 listening to 2nd childhood and flyest gangstas in the ghetto tho ... this Man practically took part in my upbringing through his music. Now I’m a grown ass Man and Nas music still take priority over anything in my playlist ...
Thank you Nas and peace god ✊🏾💯
Nas is so good and greatness so unquestioned that he can make a song themed "when is the first time you heard me" and everyone accepts it
Nas it’s time you & dot say your piece on a track, whatever the subject matter it would be insane 🔥
They need to do a concept song where they are in the studio together, not that send you verses crap a real collab.
I was 22 when I really tapped in With Nas I’m 23 now and don’t regret it🐐🔥🔥🔥🔥‼️‼️‼️
That's a very long time 🤨🤔
Man how does NaS make three classic albums in such a short time!
Yoooooo! This beat is the essence of Nas!
💯
peace to kool herc for laying the foundation of hip hop and making it possible for nas to have such longevity
First time I heard Nas was the last time I called someone else GOAT 🐐
You don't lose paying respect to those that made it great before you. Nas can't lose. Period.
First time I heard Nas was '96 10yrs old his song The message bought me in.I copped IWW,TheFirm,I Am,Stillmatic then I realized I missed Illmatic...I had to double back....GOAT. 30 yrs later still making classics...PEACE✌ KING.
The other guy is the industry’s champ but this man is the people’s champ.(notice they waited to his album drops and a younger rapper calls him irrelevant)

Nas dropped a Gem!!!! Absolutely beautiful!!! Love this track so much!!!👑👑👑👑
First time I heard Nas was when I was visiting my people in Corona, Queens back in 91. My friend's dad was dating a lady who worked at Elektra records when Nas was shopping his demo around and she played it for us. I was like "This guy is HOW OLD?!?" (17 at that time). I was around 13 and was blown away. I also heard some unreleased AZ that I still haven't been able to find from back when he was with Pete Rock and every rapper in NY was scared to let him feature on their songs, apparently lol. I managed to snag Illmatic at the end of March 94, which was about two weeks before it came out. I was temporarily the man around my way for that one lmao. Btw, don't let these old niggas tell you how much they always loved Nas because it took Illmatic over a decade to even go gold, smh. It had only sold 232,000 by the time It Was Written came out and everyone started calling him a sellout for the production on that album. Then he scaled back the production and niggas said he was the worst beat picker of all time. The audacity...
AZ never had a Demo. But he did work with Pete back in 92 when he was under Heavy D & Deo. A n CL are very close to this day. A never really talks about that time period. He got locked right up after. When he came home he met Nas in 93.
@@frankwhite7109 Right. I misspoke when I said "demo" but he was coming up with those Mt Vernon guys like you say. I'm not from NY so I wasn't sure of the exact story so thanks for shedding light.
First time I heard Nas I was a kid, and the song was “I can”, the voices of the children on the hook caught my attention, and the lyrics(of the hook) always drove me to achieve great things for myself, I took their words for it, that “if I work hard on it, I’ll be what I wanna be” and that hasn’t failed till date. To be honest, you weren’t my favorite artiste then, I appreciated and subsequently loved you the more as I grew, and now I can’t mention my top 5 emcees(dead or alive) without you in it. Thanks for being Nasir! And keep dropping more dope records, Kings Disease III is on a mad spin down here. Peace and Love ❤.
