It's hard to believe she is vegan by choice! Most of the time I have to buy her a vegan snack to munch on other wise I find her standing over the cheese drooling! lol!

I prefer thicker sauce, but the BBQ may not always agree with me, but agree with mom. On pizza it may be amazing. Rosemary never agrees with my stomach. - I've never tried eggplant before so I'd go for the smoky and risk the mild gut problems. 😂 That pumpkin shaped pasta was adorable! I have yet to also try butternut squash. - I tried the black lentil pasta from TJs and it just fell apart. I hated it so much. I was depressed I didn't like it either since I love lentils. - Thanks for sharing your day with us. Much love to you and rest of the family. 😊
OH! Also forgot to add! My birthday food I had growing up was Kraft Mac n Cheese with a side of pineapple too! Or pears & peaches in syrup. 😂😊

It's late at night, I'm sick and all loopy on cough syrup, and just had to rewind the video because I wasn't paying attention. You lost me the moment you said meatballs. I went into this whole deep, slightly existential inner dialogue of how it's so odd they're still called meatballs. They're balls of meat that contain no meat. They're not MEATballs at all. They're..plant and grain balls? I'm not sure what vegan meatballs would even be made of...oh boy, here we go again....😂 If you're wondering, it got deep. Like "I suppose meatballs are the embodiment of their own name, and don't actually have to refer to meat at all" deep. Edit. It's the next day. I don't really even remember leaving this comment, and have no idea why I felt the need to share it in the first place. Oh geez. 😂

Yeah "Lacey" it makes your pasta immediately edible, instead of pouring hot sauce on hot pasta and then you have to wait to eat it. Ain't nobody got time for dat!

a lil late for the reply, but i use one pot for everything and i'll boil my pasta and then drain it, then i'll just pour sauce into that and leave it on the heat for a min or so so it can warm up. probably not the way to do it since i bet it overcooks the noodles, but im lazy and only want to wash one pot and still have warm sauce

That lentil soup is awesome. I love it by itself, but, I usually make a huge pot of soup with Aldi canned goods. I use a can of the lentil soup, a can of mixed veggies, a can of sliced carrots, and a can of whole potatoes. Sometimes I throw in a random can of beans as well.

Next time you go, buy and try the maple leaf cookies. Use your vegan scanner on the ingredients but I'm pretty sure they're accidentally vegan and on purposefully they're delish.

When I first started shopping there the prices seemed low it felt like I was stealing!
I'm a BIG TIME Aldi girl. LOVE it there. Ours is set up differently. No candy by the produce picks. Also, they moved our prices to lower in the baskets instead of overhead. That 3 dollar sauce, they have in our special buys area and it's not moving. Not at that price. The other organic sauce was 2 bucks but recently they upped it. I go for the produce picks of the week. Our location is super duper clean and nice and I just love that store.

I was just thinking the same thing. Almonds are cheap at the superstore, and get a good nutbag (or tripple up on the cheesecloth) and make your own if you can. The only downside is that you need to use within a couple of days.
I just want to say there was like three commercials for Perdue chicken in this video for me, it's like they are trying to sell me on not being vegan and watching a vegan hahaha 😂😂😂 yeah that's not gonna happen

I found a brilliant "hearty tomato soup" recipe in the Engine 2 Cookbook - it is dead easy - water sauté a chopped onion add garlic then add two 15 oz cans of chopped tomatoes (called Pizza-Tomaten here in Germany) and three slices of whole grain bread and the same amount of veggie broth and cook for five minutes - then blend with an immersion blender (Stabmixer in German) - they had maple syrup in which I don't add and pepper to taste and it is a faithful quick meal - possibly good over steamed veggies too.
When you don't get have any vegan grocery bonding time with your mom because you grew up in a paleo family ;_;

Craig - I have a friend who is vegan and she refuses to say things like vegan "meat" "chicken" or anything equating vegan food with anything "meat." Would you like me to punch her in the throat for you?? As a meat eater (for shame), I must say that I really enjoy your videos and have been reducing my meat/egg/dairy consumption. I think two things that have slowed my progress is the price and I'm lazy.... but I am trying. Have a great day!

Hi Craig, try this on your roasted cauliflower, it's really good: (you'll need to double it, because this is for one cauliflower)
1/8 cup olive oil
1-2 gloves garlic minced
1/4 cup of tahini
juice of half a large lemon
1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp salt and pepper
saute garlic in oil 2-5 minutes, add remaining ingredients, cook another 2-5 minutes. pour over roasted cauliflower , allow to saturate, serve at room temperature.
I get every vegan no no foods but honey. Especially wild honey. The health benefits are sooooo out there. And the orchard and clover kept bees are living the high life. Is it just because they are animals? There is absolutely no harm to honey harvesting.

Mom needs to make tomato soup in the instant pot now that she has one. It’s one of my favorite meals to make in the IP. I’m not vegan (and adore salt) but it’s an easy thing to customize. I like the canned San mart tomatoes. I sauté onion and garlic, add tomatoes and seasonings (I add better than bouillon chicken but I know they make veggie versions, tiny bit of sugar to knock the acid down. Like a tsp for a big pot, smidge of balsamic and some nooch yeast) cook in IP, blend in vitamix or use stick blender if you like chunky, add in some basil and milk (being non veg I use the cow variety but I’m sure almond would be great) and using sauté bring to simmer. Voila! I usually make a nice focaccia with garlic and rosemary to go along with it, or grilled cheese, but it’s good any way you make it and cheap and you can control the salt. Only takes about 20-30 to make it

Hey! The other day I found vegan chik’n tenders AND patties at Aldis along with a bunch of different types of vegan burgers! Idk if it’s known that they sell that or if it’s new but I still thought it was cool. I tried the patties and they were really good. :)

My grampa is the only person in my family that likes rosemary and I have a bunch of it in my kitchen from my friends garden. Eggplant parm was my favorite food as a kid. I did not ever want candy I wanted the eggplant parm from the deli in the store. We don't have aldi in maine but we do have BJ's. But my mom go's to sam's all the time. They don't have any vegan junk food at sam's and the last time I went I was really sad.

Sometimes a product is available to be ordered but they stop ordering it because it doesn’t sell well at the certain location. Maybe ask the mgr if they can order it for you?
I work at stop and shop and we have ordered discontinued flavors just for one customer and leave the excess on the shelf for whoever wants to buy :) worth a shot!
Just out of curiosity... is an organic vegetable that is fertilized with animal waste considered vegan?
quic tip for runny/watery pasta sauce: if you undercook your pasta by 2 to 3 minutes, put the pasta in a strainer, and then back in the pot without the cooking water in it, then add the sauce to the strained pasta and just let it simmer for those last 2 to 3 minutes that you undercooked the pasta, that pasta will soak up some of that "extra" watery part of the sauce, and also some of the flavor...

Momdre is so right about the cauliflower. Whenever I make it whether it's fried or roasted I need like 2 or 3 heads or I won't get any. Oh yea I'm the only vegan in the house.
