How about if the lower part of my pant is narrower than the upper part? Many videos taught us how to shorten straight pants but not tapering pants. I always have troubles altering pants where the ankle part is narrower than the calf part.
great question. You need to leave an upside down V shape at the side seams so when the hem flips up it is the same width as the pant leg. Try it with paper first to understand it. Great idea for a new video though!

i found a 70s Kenmore at an auction that included one cam which i THOUGHT was a zig zag but when i did a test scrap, it was the blind hem cam. i haven't used it on any pants yet because i was confused on how to place the fabric but as USUAL, you have explained something where I can understand and try it for myself.

instructions but found voice very difficult to listen to.

@@SewAnastasia I never REALLY knew how the blind hem worked (I guess I just haven't gotten to it yet), so this video was really helpful. You mentioned using a "fix option" or a backstitch. What is a fix option, if you don't mind? Trying to Google that only yields pages trying to fix my sewing machine. Thanks! 😁
