Not necessarily clearer warmer sound signatures tend to sound more muffled and brighter tend to sound more clear I've own both sony sounds better inside and jbl sounds better outside due to brighter speakers do better in open areas and warmer speakers are better inside jbl gets harsh inside at max volume while sony doesn't it's all personal preference only jbl speaker I don't own is the boom box 3 and just order the jbl hid speakers

The reason it sounds muffled is because sony speakers have a warmer sound signature which I personally prefer. Jbl had decent bass for sure but if you want deep rumbling bass go with sony but not the xb43 or anything from that series they don't sound bad they are just to quiet to really enjoy.
@@Johnny24rs I got it and I like it very much too but when it comes to loudness jbl is the better choice. For example my jbl xtreme2 can only be at 60 or 70% volume to closely match the xb43 at 80%. I like sony a lot but it's just not loud more so in an outdoor setting
@@gabrielv887 Yeah but with the loudness, you're sacrificing battery life. I work outside and use the XB43, and my coworker uses the JBL Extreme 2. We can hear both of our speakers from a pretty far distance in the same position but the JBL can be heard from about a couple more meters. The downside is his Xtreme 2 only last 4 hours at max volume while my XB43 can last 7-8 hours at full volume on Live or Extra Bass mode. We don't have access to electricity in the urban community gardens we work in, so we have to rely on a full charge from the start of our shift. Sure the JBL can last longer if you turn down the volume to like 80%, but our other coworkers simply don't listen they just want to hear their favorite songs as loud as possible. The temptation to turn it up higher isn't there with the Sony speakers so they just accept how high it goes and I don't have to worry about the battery getting depleted soon. But either way its better to get JBL and other competitors if you're paying the same price and want to maximize loudness. If you see a steep discount for a brand new or refurbished Sony speaker I say hop on it because it is great value. I got my XB33 for $60 and my XB43 for $100. I just ordered a refurbished Sony XG500 for $170 which is $10 less than the price of a brand new Motion Boom Plus. Strange thing about Sony speakers sounding muffled because in videos they sound muffled but in person my speakers don't sound muffled at all. My coworker who owns the JBL Extreme 2 says he likes the sound of my Sony XB43.
@@Daxter609 that is actually really cool to hear and that is very true my xb43 doesn't sound muffled at all maybe the xb41 because it had no tweeters but I loke they way it sounds but the only reason the jbl sounds louder is because it doesn't have the deep bass that sony has which is why I prefer sony over jbl
You also find that the Sonys are great for other types of music such as jazz, , latin, easy listening etc. Unfortunately RUclipsrs only ever demo with dance music or hip hop. Subjective opinion which I am sure I'll be corrected on. But I also think it could be an age thing. The teens/twentys have grown up in a generation of small computerised tech be it laptops, phones or portable speakers so are used to a more thinner open sound. Whereas the older generation had larger drivers and home hi-fi which also due to an older technology (discrete components) where naturally warmer.

What I learned from my JBL vs Sony experience is this. JBL is better out of the box, Sony is better if you tune it with the app. I personally much prefer a tuned XB43 over a Xtreme 3. It might be the case with this speaker aswell. Good review!

Yo Floss, is there any way that you could do in updated video on rechargeable compressed air devices, like the ones you would use to dust off your desk or keyboard?
Damn, the JBL just absolutely destroys. I’ve had my JBL Charge 3 for years now - and it’s the best damn Bluetooth speaker I’ve owned. Might need to look into the big boys now. That sounds so damn good
Man if you think the Xtreme 3 sounds good you should look into the soundcore motion boom. You can tune them with a custom EQ to sound way better IMO, and I was able to get two of them for stereo pairing for less than the cost of a JBL charge 5! Two of them are off the chain in loudness and deep bass
I ordered Sony (it was on sale for $199 at RC Willey) first and after watching this video snatched JBL extreme 3 at local Walmart for $229 on sale. Adjusted Equalizer on both and listened. Honestly, Sony blows JBL out of window . I am an audio enthusiast with over 38 years of experience in audio equipment. And I don’t know what’s the problem with JBL portable speakers. I tried all extreme line and charge. They sound like a piece of crap. To be precisely it’s like sound coming from the bucket, mechanical and not natural. The Sony on other hand sounds warm and pleasing to your ears. I haven’t noticed any more base on JBL versus Sony. Actually Sony had more base if you adjust equalizer on both of them. And JBL sounds more open and more metallic somewhat like Klipsch horn. So my verdict … JBL went back to Walmart and I kept Sony as my companion speaker next to Ultimate Ear Hyperboom.
Yo floss , I need your opinion. Right now the flip 6 is the same price , if not higher than the charge 4. What should I go for? I really have no idea and both are great choices
Floss, should I wait for the next upcoming new generation of JBL speakers and I heard that they will be coming out by the end of the year if I am not wrong? I have been eyeing to buy the Xtreme 3 last year but was hesitant about getting it because the price was too steep. Now I have compared it with this Sony SRS-XG300 but looking at so many reviews, is it a better speaker than the Xtreme 3? Price is slightly lower but is now confused and baffled by the other competitors. So many good brands out there to distract our deciding factor of which one is the best to get lol 😂 😝I owned some Xdobo and Soundcore speakers too, what do u think of the new Soundcore Motion X600?

I had multiple JBL Bluetooth speakers in the pass at least 6 from Clip to boom box with the handle, kind of looking for something Different, still searching tho .🤫
bro white shoes cracks me up in this one. The JBL sounds so much better than the Sony. I'm just listening on my phone without no headphones or anything and you can still hear the difference between them.
I've made several purchases on items you've considered a major go and I have not been disappointed ONCE taking your word for it. Much love & respect brother 💪🏿✊🏿

JBL definitely won the sound test. 😊 what is going on with SONY ?? Some of their stuff they are dishing out is just rubbish!!! There was a time SONY was the only brand second to Bang and Olufsen to consider buying, now that has definitely changed. The manufacturing base in Spain might have something to do with it. Thanks for a decent review Floss!
I find it funny how so many people care if it's dustproof or waterproof first of all you're not going to have to worry about the dust probably for as long as you are alive and I was always taught that you should keep all of your electronics away from the water did they tell you that your phone is waterproof are you going to drop it in the water to find out I am sure not going to do that❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😂
i usually agree but i got a xg300 for 199 few days ago at bestbuy there was also a software update the same day it made the megabass setting better ..man i got be honest i absolutely love the handle and the build of the sony and it has decent bass i actually fav using it over my jbl boombox the sony is my fav speaker .also have 2 xb33 but the sony connect thing sux ..also own a bumpbox ultra plus and a studibaker master blaster a side note i used the eq bass on 10 mid on 4 treble on 9 sounds way better and louder n clearer
So why didn't you press the "Mega Bass" bass boost button on the Sony and compare it to the JBL?! You're not giving the Sony a fair shot if you're not using the features that are right on it. And it would have been helpful to us if you had boosted the treble from the Sony app to see if it still sounds "muffled" to you, or if the speaker was fatally flawed. Also, the JBL charges with a power cable that has a brick in it, so the charging cable is not very portable - and you definitely better not lose it when you're traveling about! By contrast, the Sony charges with USBC, and most of us have USBC cables kicking around everywhere. And the Sony has a "quick charge" feature which means any USBC you have around will give the speaker 70 minutes of playback with just a 10-minute charge. Plus the Sony uses Bluetooth 5.2 which means (among other things) that it won't drain your phone battery as fast. And because it's Bluetooth 5.2, you can pair two devices to it and switch between them. So if you're streaming from a laptop or tablet, you can take a call from your phone too, because you can switch seamlessly. BTW, the Sony retails at $200 everywhere, so "jump on it everywhere" as you say.
Thanks for this comment, I want to get a larger speaker outside of my flip 6 and this speaker is refurbished from secondpity for $109, which seems like a downright bargain
Thanks for your video. NO for this speaker: TOO much bass and too little treble. For the same price, almost the same power and perfect sound, it is much better to buy the Marshall TUFTON
i totally agree with you there JBL all day , if i were to go with the sony i would definitely go with the previous model , But as soon as i upgraded to my jbl extreme the sound really impressed me!!
Question. What is that long thin sticker on the speaker? I noticed mine didnt come with one. So now im wondering if i bought a used one or one that was returned
@@TheAscendedTechNinja Probably because he wasn't fully utilized the way we both saw it. Dolby and Poweramp help again and make it the boombox champion, but that's exactly what makes it undervalued at the same time because not everyone feels the full power.
I tried sony xb 43 and jbl extreme 3(bright sound type) to my experience sony is more crispy sound, have more clear sound, warm sound, less distort on 80% and above sound level. Mean while jbl have bright sound less crispy sound, the sound is unfocus especially the mid sound start from 70% volume and above even the seller acknowledge. I even asked the seller "is this speaker original?" While the speaker were selling in a jbl official store. In my opinion sony is for those who like chill music, jazz, slow music, relaxing music, classic anything chill music. While jbl is for those who like hard music
I have ordered both of them, but returned the JBL. It's amazing if you listen to a lot of modern, digital music. If you're more into rock, acoustic or classic music, my advise would most def be to go with the Sony
Sony's doing the same sh!t that Kenwood did, in the beginning they produce top tier equipment then over time the quality drops and rely on brand recognition to carry them. Kenwood late 70's early 80's home amplifiers were crazy powerful with interesting features like zero signal output until input sound reached a certain level before the amp would let sound through. Now Kenwood and Sony are garbage unless you spend BIG bucks.
Sony speakers arent amazing, but some other their other product lines are still very competitive. Sony's latest TV's look great and the prices are hundreds of dollars cheaper then last year because they realized tv market is too competitive now to charge a premium. Thats the problem with a company as big as sony. Their games studios are great, tv's are great, cameras are very good, speakers mediocre, phones mediocre lol.
I think the cloth material does make the Sony speaker seem muffled even though it makes the speaker possibly a little more durable than other portable Bluetooth speakers, but also makes the speaker feel a little more premium with the build. The fabric material on the JBL speakers seems to be a lighter material which makes gives the JBL speakers a cleaner sound and a little more volume than the Sony speaker. Never have I had a Sony speaker but I agree, JBL all the way. I still have a Charge 4 and I still bump it to this day. JBL’s sound for speakers is nothing short of amazing. Great video as always and salute to you and White Shoes. 🫡

So my verdict … JBL went back to Walmart and I kept Sony as my companion speaker next to Ultimate Ear Hyperboom.

The real review right here! Thanks for the feedback
Yo floss , I need your opinion.
Right now the flip 6 is the same price , if not higher than the charge 4. What should I go for? I really have no idea and both are great choices
Charge 5
I love OG musice and I must be able to here the instrutments 📯🔔🎵🎶🎚🎛🎷🎸🎺🪗🎻🪕🪘 and voice crystal clear🎼🎙🎼🎤🎧! Especially the separation of each in my in my ears👂🏽! Like The Touch of You😍! Some might not know that one! Time to upgrade to JBL X-3 from UEBoom🤩 Thank you , Flossy 👑
Love the stare on white shoes 🤣. Great work on the review always a major major god tier effort 🇮🇪🇮🇪
I have the JBL flip 5 but just upgraded to the Sony XG300 for $150 at Best Buy Black Friday. It was $10 more than the JBL Charge but up a level in size. I hope that I made the right choice.
Got it for 140.00 CAD My Harman Kardon Go + Play is definitely a cleaner sound, but I like how this speaker can fill a room without disturbing my neighbors. Definitely a win for people with shared walls.
I do love sony a lot. However jbl to me still sound the best. That my own opinion.
Sony are always better, but they want to use Sony media center app to get the best sound.
JBL sounds good but for long term use, I think Sony is way batter.
I like Sony but JBL Takes the W on this review. I will wait four to six months on this one.
I've made several purchases on items you've considered a major go and I have not been disappointed ONCE taking your word for it. Much love & respect brother 💪🏿✊🏿
am waiting for the price to go down i have two jbl charge 5 and it's beautiful but am a still looking cause am obsessed a little bit with bluetooth speakers.
I picked up the Sony at Target last week for $109. It was a no brainer.
104 indeed. I'm in target in Peachtree city and that have 2 left
I picked up one of these a couple weeks back, and I freakin love it. Great and entertaining review as always, Floss.
Another great video homie!!!! Shout out to tha man himself and white shoes as well!!!!
JBL makes the best speakers and earbuds I love their products great video flossy carter 🔥
I wonder if it sound muffled because of the water proofing
Great review. Would love to see a comparison with the Sonos Move.
I wonder what a hundred of these linked together would actually sound like lol
Floss awesome Video and definitely hear the difference and I also love Sony products.Thank you so much for sharing Deb ✌️
I love your channel bro!
ikr
Thanks Fellas!
Thanks for this comment, I want to get a larger speaker outside of my flip 6 and this speaker is refurbished from secondpity for $109, which seems like a downright bargain
amen
Thanks for your video. NO for this speaker: TOO much bass and too little treble. For the same price, almost the same power and perfect sound, it is much better to buy the Marshall TUFTON
Wish they will make a new Marshall tufton upgrade
Floss you make me laugh dude😂😂😂❤❤
i totally agree with you there JBL all day , if i were to go with the sony i would definitely go with the previous model , But as soon as i upgraded to my jbl extreme the sound really impressed me!!
Floss are you still gonna review that wking speaker?edit the mifa wilfbox is also an awesome value for money speaker you can check out
Liked the video before watching bc I already know Flossy stay making them bangers 💯💯
Question. What is that long thin sticker on the speaker? I noticed mine didnt come with one. So now im wondering if i bought a used one or one that was returned
It’s supposed to come with that.. where did you buy it?
@FlossyCarter Best Buy. Ive also noticed that the sticker also has the word "Demo" on it. So maybe its versions of the speaker sent to reviewers?
I think this is one of the rare times I’ve heard him say that something is not worth the price.
You must be new here
Why am I no longer receiving ANY notifications for Flossys channel? Anyone have any ideas?
I really thought the XG-300 would go toe to toe with the Xtreme 3 but I was wrong. Btw you still going to review the Monster Blaster 3.0🤔
Sony Man really sad, the extreme 3 is older and still beats the XG300 very easily. Thankfully, the XG500 isn't that lousy.
Right I felt like Sony put everything they got into the XG-500 with the update and just tossed out the smaller ones😕
@@TheAscendedTechNinja Probably because he wasn't fully utilized the way we both saw it. Dolby and Poweramp help again and make it the boombox champion, but that's exactly what makes it undervalued at the same time because not everyone feels the full power.
And not everyone has access to that and Dolby atmos is exclusive as well. I hope updates make it better
@@schacktastisch I agree. Sony's shouldve been tested with an android in LDAC
JBL xtreme wins too easy. Better BASS, better everything I love the sony design but that way over priced at $350. Maybe for 250$.
I tried sony xb 43 and jbl extreme 3(bright sound type)
to my experience sony is more crispy sound, have more clear sound, warm sound, less distort on 80% and above sound level.
JBL lands the left hook! Down goes Sony! Great video vato!
It's funny they both
have been doing this for the same amount of time 78 years.... JBL wins
Can you take a look at the beyerdynamic free Byrd true wireless earbuds? Beyerdynamic is one of the longtime counterparts to Sennheiser.
Floss what's the best portable speaker that you can also run off the mains
Floss, you should get a scale to do a weight comparison for headphones and speakers in your reviews.
Flossy, with the recent firmware updates I heard the SONY rocks. Any comments on this?
Lemme check
@@FlossyCarter Thanks, yeah something with the EQ settings opening it up. Seems out the box, they suck.
when we gonna hear the clear version of the official sound test ☹️🙏
Sony trying to make a come back 🤨. If they cut down on the price it might work. Jbl my brother.
Мне тоже JBL звук понравился больше, чем звук у Sony. Даже через youtube заметна разница в звуке. Правда, JBL стоит сейчас 374$, а SONY - 130$.
I don't know how I miss some of your RUclips video
I want to know where that 24 Diner is in Queens I'm also in New York
Crossbay diner
@@FlossyCarter thank you my brother big fan keep representing New York
U actually right. Its slighlty muffled. Which for me isnt a dealbreaker. Because the sound is crispy still
Man’s really said every speaker sounds good till it’s next to a JBL doing Sony dirty.
You know what else has bass? Cxdy - Hollow Bells.... noncopyright music btw before y'all assume it's copyright
The best Sony speakers were the original XB series all downhill after that
Floss Great review as always ! Pls can you review jbl extreme 3 vs Xdobo X8 Max ? Thanks 🙏
