I love ur reviews. I bought the b and o A1 after I watched ur review on it. I honestly like the JBL more than that Sony. The sound was cleaner with heavier bass like I like it. But I do like that Sony design.
Like the features on the Sony...but JBL always was good to my ears. I need to hear the Sony in person to see which one I like. Thanks again for another great video!

I have a few JBL speakers but I just picked up 2 Sony speakers that I’m liking more. Love the usb c charging
i have the charge 4 and i love being able to charge my phone while using it. Power goes out at my apartment at least once a year due to monsoon season in arizona so it helps.

While Sony do pump those bass, the highs on Sony sounds muffled compare to JBL. And JBL on the other hand produce quite lot of Noise Artifacts on max volume. The Sony got plus on it's feats. like hands-free call and Voice Assistant which the JBL Charge 5 doesn't have. But despite all that I'd still go for JBL Charge 5. I've already tested it from Sand to Sea and Pool water and it 💯% working ti'll now…

I returned my xe300 for the xb43, but I’m contemplating returning it for the jbl charge 5, just because it’s 6.5 freaking pounds! So damn heavy

I totally agree with your verdict, the JBL has better, cleaner, and richer sound. The Sony has a better and punchier bass but the sound seemed a bit muffled to me and wasn't has clear as the JBL but a good speaker though. ✊🏿

JBL always hits home with the current Charge and the 5 is no exception.

Just visited my brother in VA Beach, he has the Harmon Kardin Onyx Studio 5 & it sounds amazing!! I was going to get the Studio 7 but opted for the JBL Charge (to charge the phone while at the beach or wherever). Would love to see a comparison.

I don't know what happened with Sony speakers ... the xb32 did sound half decent, and after that everything started rolling down heel. I received a xe300 and it sounded like it was playing from inside of a bag, no matter what setting I went for. Alto I like external design of sony, unfortunatelly I think you were right all along and I will just jump the ship for jbl ...

I do appreciate your work it was a great job. However, In terms of reviewing sound quality what has been missed about XE300 is that it supports LDAC which can boost the sound quality, but iPhones do not support that Codec So you can't really squeeze out all its ability with those phones.
iPhones suck in general for Bluetooth speakers, Google, Xiaomi and Poco are the best, like who says no to a built in 10 band EQ with Atmos. 😎
The reason some speakers have AAC codec is iPhone's use that codec and the EQ settings are built into that codec, but for androids they use SBC, AptX and LDAC but the EQ isn't built into the codec so you have to do it manually with a software of choice or use the EQ in settings.
Mifa Wildbox for example doesn't have AAC that's why it sounds horrible with iOS 😅

@@jedvaulten02 I always keep an android phone for Bluetooth speakers,the one I have sounds exactly the same on iOS and Android cuz it has it's own app with eq that cloud syncs on all my phones.
Tested both before I purchased a BT speaker at Yodobashi store in Tokyo. There weren't too many people so I got to listen for a little while more. Neither was boomy, but to me the Sony went below the JBL in reproducing deeper sound. I also found Sony to be fuller in mids and highs. I also noted that XE300 connected to my Samsung phone in hi-res LDAC codec but the Charge 5 connected in lossy AAC. Wasn't able to test the battery life (obviously) but the Sony promises a few hours more play time than the JBL. The feeling I had was like the Sony is a newer released product and would go against the Charge 6 rather than the 5, although this is just my perception and I don't really know when both were released. Took home the Sony. Quick NOTE: I was listening in a big room (store) so it wasn't an ideal place to really test speakers meant for personal listening.

Sucks Sony got rid of the LEDs from the XB30s & XB40s. Those were a big selling point over JBL

Flossy, you're right in my opinion. The JBL charge 5 sounded cleaner. Since I'm not into the sound effects I went with the JBL.

I'm a little late to this speaker, but I just bought 2 from Target.
I was looking for the JBL's, but they were out of stock, so the Salesperson showed me these & said they were on sale for $60. I couldn't believe the price, so I bought 2 of them for the stereo effect.
So I spent $130 total & they bump 🔉 🔊
The charge 5 has one priority and it does its job good. The speaker is built to just play music nothing more I don't answer calls with my speaker tho cuz i got a neighbour that is behind my wall 24 hours a day.
Portable speakers JBL got it on lock. So if JBL add that DJ stuff and speakerphone would u chose that speaker?

Yeah you're right the JBL sounds cleaner clearer and the Sony sounds like a softer smoother sound which might not be too bad but clarity is the best key it may be because of the coverage of the Sony speakers But the base on a Sony is way better but you need more than just space I need bass strength and unequality and loudness all 3 needs to complete the ecosystem now Sony does look better with Sony legendary head the only reason I will buy this Sony is to gift it out
The JBL now has customizable 3 way eq. Which in my opinion, makes it sound even better for me! But I agree the Sony has more features and I wish the charge 5 had more features as well. But I guess you can't have "everything," especially if you don't pay like $250 or even much more! The Sony is a good choice in my opinion, but it is a little lacking in the treble range.
I'd love to know how it compares with the prior models like XB33 and XB43 and whether it would be worth the upgrade or not

i compared the Sony XE 300 to the charge 5 and the boss the xe300 is the best ALL AROUND speaker its louder than the Boss Soundlink flex and has a microphone which the charge 5 doesn't have and it also have good sound quality ,good bass with a longer battery life than most other speakers to me Sony Xe 300 was the clear Winner Plus with all the flat sides you can have it on any side .
I have the XB33. Too bad they never kept the NFC connectivity.

Sony speakers always seem to be a little light on the Bass response to me. This one sounds pretty good. But I like the JBL better. Have you ever reviewed any Denon speakers?
They don't enhance bass much I've noticed aswell, it's mostly treble and upper mids

I don't get Sony. They make great sounding earbuds, headphones, and soundbars but their Bluetooth speakers are average sounding. I don't get why they haven't brought their signature sound to portable speakers
