You mentioned that the 1h talent increased Expertise by 6, but I cannot see that in the description, and also do not see it on the character screen on the Private Server. Was this still a think on Patch 2.4.3?

I used to be warrior MT in BC, I'm trying to do it again. It was by far the best period in the game so far.
I DID DO some DW tanking, but it's only feasible agains soft hitting targets. Maulgar priest add, some 5man bosses. Huge aggro, nice dps, it's worth it.
Same here. Going to try and tank again as warrior, but based on the climate of so many raiding guilds... if you don't already have connections (or in a guild that allows it of course), then trying to get a raiding spot vs pallys is going to be insanely difficult with 2.4 balance in play. Pallys got massive prot buffs throughout TBC.
Just as a side-question...
How 'well' does a Deep-Prot specced Warrior do on the DPS meter by wearing DPS-gear, dual Wielding and just spamming their Devastate ability?
A druid can use the same spec to play both Kitty-DPS and Bear-Tank, but how well does a Dual Wielding Prot Warrior do on the DPS (also for solo-questing) while ditching all the Tank gear and just go for a full Hit/Expertise/Crit build.
Rolled feral tank, loved it until was tanking Prince in Kara and the crushing blows destroyed me. Rerolled prot warrior and it's been great. So much utility, and actually be able to use items without having to macro back into bear form has been so useful.
reroll from bear to warrior, grim mate, prot warriors are already shit, will only get worse with p2 etc
So what if you have Thunderfury for a while until you upgrade? Should you still go for thunderclap?
Is there a spicy build out there to maximize prot tank warrior damage with parry. Was thinking since just by my defense gear pre raid bis I'm up to 15-16 parry. And tier 1 gear has a lot of parry rating. Getty up parry up to 25% + would start shooting DPS through the roof.

more cost efficient to raid p1 prot as a war. every kara i use about 300g+ in consumables(including repairbill) on my paladin.

I am really curious i've tried searching it everywhere but what is the point of using the defense skill talent if you can get 490 purely from gear? i went with deep wounds/impale so my spec looks like 17/0/44. I'm just wondering what the arguments are for not running with impale instead of toughness&anticipation
I know your comment is a little old so not sure if you still have this question, but anyway, on with my explanation!
The 2 other talent choices in the first row aren't that great. So Anticipation is taken 5/5.
It's also worth a TON more than the defense rating from gear, so that allows you to have dps trinkets, necklaces, rings, cloak, etc. More dmg / threat
As you work your way down the tree, you generally avoid improved revenge and disarm (not worth the talent points, most bosses immune to disarm and stun so those do nothing for those bosses). Those can be ok in dungeons, but unless you want to respec every dungeon / raid, not worth taking (if you need to rely on those talents for dungeons, something else is wrong anyway). So once you get to 21 points spent (where you get concussion blow) you have 4 free points to spend somewhere. Only other good options are Improved Shield wall, taunt, and toughness. Most people don't take Improved Shield bash since interrupts should come from the dps (I believe shield bash also locks out that school of magic anyway, so kind of like a mini silence). I dont take shield wall because it's a 30 min CD, so very little use out of it. So I max out Toughness then throw the last point into improved taunt. Now we can move back down the tree.
All that being said, you can still get to Impale with deep prot. You sacrifice either 2 points in "Shield Mastery" or One-Handed Weapon Spec (could also take one out of each).
17/3/41(3 in fury being cruelty)
For it to be worth doing this though, you kind of need to be close to 20% crit. At that benchmark, your gear should be fairly decent to where those 2 points lost from Shield Mastery won't make a huge difference.

Not a word about Shield Bash? It's 12 sec cooldown instant ability, which provides some additional "free" threat, so i don't see any reason to not add it to 'Shield Slam macro' for boss fights, where u have lots of rage.
I assume HS is better and if you're doing your rotation correctly you shouldn't have rage left over

He says "make sure improved demo shout is up on the boss" when talking about weak aura. But he doesn't spend any points for it in the talent tree. So who's doing it?

God how I hate when people say “just get weakauras” without suggesting what weakauras to get…. Weakauras by itself does absolutely nothing until you find a useful plugin to add to it. I’ve never bothered with it in retail but the couple of things I’ve tried in tbcc didn’t work at all with the default ui so so far the only useful thing weakauras has given me is an AA timer
I did some math and if it's correct, Toughness and Vitality do not seem to be that great of talents at lower gear levels. I have pre-raid equipment and found out that 5 points in Toughness gives me about 900 armor and 5 in Vitality adds 25 stamina and 27 strength. So it would cost me a whopping 10 points to get 2% physical damage reduction, 270 hp, 50 AP and 1% block.
Based on that, they hardly seem worth the significant investment at this time. I'd rather pick up some of the other threat/mitigation talents that offer better returns for a lower cost. I may change this however when my gear improves and the scaling is better.
@Professor Thinker I posted that almost a year ago...now that we're in the last phase of the xpac, the scaling is better so it's more worth it.
Devastate also isnt as amazing as people make it out to be. It's a filler move that doesn't even generate as much threat at 5 stacks or work with improved expose armor.
I have always leveled as full prot, never found that it dramatically increased my leveling time, more like the opposite.
You don't die that much if you are less careful that's for sure but it takes sooooo much time to kill one mob imo.
I leveled in every spec and in my opinion the best is Arms, then Prot then Fury.
Once you get some hit rating gear in Outland you can go Fury but still, I preferred to do it as prot to grind reputation.

Doesnt devastate stop threat generation after 5 stacks. Sunder armour continues it. Has this changed? I thought tbc was the same as tbc 15 yr ago
improved shield block in classic is 0/3 and you only go 1/3 because it gives you the extra stack and there is no benefit to go 3/3 and shield specialization has no change from classic
Crits are 150% damage unless you have impale then it’s 170% :)

Right now as a resto druid I'd much rather have pally tanks in my runs. I've had a few warriors that were great in 5 mans. I'm about to start leveling my warrior from 60 and really concerned about how I should be leveling him. I'd like to spend time in dungeons.
For me, the tactical mastery change from classic initially looked like a good idea, because in classic, I liked to charge into a pack and TC, THEN switch to defensive to continue sharing sunders etc. But now TC can be used in defensive stance anyway. So yeah, tactical mastery only seems useful for an MS warrior or a FURY tank warrior for the extra bloodthirst threat.
Tactical Mastery is good on cold pulls, ie when you start a pull with an empty rage bar. Because you'll want to Charge to kickstart your rage bar, then immediately switch to Defensive. Might as well keep as much rage as you can when you switch.
TSW is a prot warrior encyclopedia. I can see why Scott was trying to move him along on topics. Otherwise tsw will explain warrior for 10 hours.

What exactly did you do wrong though?
That tree is too defensive. Warrior tanking is about balancing your stats. If you are too tanky you don't get enough rage. If you take too much dmg you get rage but you die too quickly. That tree however, is too defensive. If you are crit immune you don't need all that defense as long as your healer is not complete garbage. TPS as well is low with that build because of your rage regen being low 'cause high mitigation and no Anger Management. AM comes in clutch a lot, especially if you're missing 1 rage sometimes just as your auto attack finished, having to wait for either another one or the enemy attacking you for rage which can be 1-3s depending on situation (single target bosses) can be a wipe.
Yeah, I did BT back in TBC, never got around to sunwell but we pushed BT and I never went a tree this defensive due to ending up having rage problems and then my DPS had to slack cuz I couldn't stay ahead on threat. A wipe is almost never due to a tank taking too much dmg (with approriate gear for the content), it's almost always boss mechanics or someone taking agro.
Last stand... i dunno each time i use this is that i can just use a pot instead..so i never chose last stand. Pot does job and if you need to pot and last stand it means your healers are dead... or brain dead

Why would you give the middle finger to your prot warrior who was with you all tbc... That makes zero sense. Kick him out before sun well so you can micro optimize?
I mean technically pallys blow both out of the water in most cases anyway.
Bottom line is that with 2.4.3 being in play from the beginning, feral and prot pallys have all of their buffs, and warriors never received a single one.
Any returning player to either classic, or simply just trying tbc classic for the first time, who wants to prot warr raid... I wish you luck in finding raid spots. It will be true hell.

what would you go first?
Anticipation is 20 defense skill or 47.4 defense rating. Early on, you will be scraping to get every defense rating you can to hit 490 defense without gimping yourself and having to gem for it. 47.4 defense rating is 2-4 pieces of gear, or 3 blue defense gems. You are a fool for not taking it when you start raid tanking in TBC. You would be a fool for not taking it early on, Later on, when you have tons of defense on T5 or T6 gear, you can make an argument for not having it, but early on, you would be foolish for not taking it, you clearly do not have a clue what you are talking about. If you are running around without defense cap in raids, you are also a fool. On top of all of that, Anticipation is nearly 1% dodge, 1% parry, 1% block, and 1% miss. you need 25 defense skill to be a full 1%.
There also really isn't a reason to get tactical mastery as prot, you still retain 10 rage when you stance dance, allowing you to do almost everything you need to do, and improved blood rage, is nice but is not a mandatory talent ether.
@@undacuvabrotha Well there are only 2 ways to go, ether tactical mastery, 3/3 and that would give you 15, 20, 25 rage for each talent point when you stance dance, or improved blood rage to gain 3 or 6 extra rage, clearly he values those 2 abilities more, I am not sure why, but he does. 47.4 defense rating that you do not have to gem or gear for is really nice, but clearly he wants 15 extra rage when he stance dances to do abilities that cost 10 rage, and 6 extra rage every minute, more and is willing to dismiss an entire video over it.
@@Evirthewarrior you are discarding the fact that you retain the rage when entering defensive as well. Either stancd dance back an forth and start with 0 rage or have 15 to start using abilities again. There's a reason Tac Mastery is popular even in classic with prot tanks
@@Novacification You have 10 rage in TBC after level 20 when you change stances you dolt. Every ability you need to stance dance to do as a tank, costs 10 rage or less. There is a new ability called Stance Mastery, it is a passive. You learn it at 20. It makes Tactical mastery less useful. and having 20 extra defense is massive. having 47 extra defense rating frees up gem slots, trinket slots or other gear for other stats.
The man put 3 points into thunderclap but didn't put any into tactical mastery, doesn't make sense
