Every Snark I've ever had breaks for no apparent reason. It's like one day they just randomly stop turning on, then you get a new battery and they still don't turn on, and that's just the end of them. They're unreliable and they also aren't accurate when they are functioning.

I once had a snark for a number of years that eventually the outside layer of plastic disintegrated into this gross sticky shit that wouldn’t come off no matter what. Turns out I wasn’t the only one this happened to. I’ve never returned to Snark
Same happened to me when I went to use it today. It's like someone melted the damn thing. Tried using a baby wipe and the paint and plastic just kept coming off so I'm online looking for a good alternate for my banjo.

I've never seen anything in the instrument industry be the best selling thing and also not work. Snark has the accuracy on the box, and they work fine. I have a korg strobe tuner I use for intonation and I've ab'd them without much surprise. The strobe is slightly more accurate, but my korg is another tenth more accurate than the sledgehammer, which is the same as the snark. And of course much like many videos on RUclips this is making a claim without any comparisons or anything like that. I'm not saying this guy is a liar, but it's hard to argue with the buying power of everyone who plays, and my anecdotal experiences. I just don't see how snark would become so big without having some sort of Apple marketing campaign. Also at my local music store all the employees just tune ukuleles and guitars with the snark stuff, then recommend them as tuners, even when there's plenty more options that would make the store more money. Is there some sort of conspiracy afoot?
Agreed. If you know how to play guitar and you know your guitar... the accuracy of a tuner will get you to where you need to be and you'll make the adjustments from your ear... I'm considering buying this guys' recommendation but I've had 2 snarks in the past... lost them via moving multiple time... the snark is a helpful tool to get me where I need to be to sound good on my 50 year old acoustic. The Peterson is great!! I love it, at that price point though and the way I lose stuff I wouldn’t take it out of my house haha but someone more responsible than I, definitely an incredibly good option.
A Snark will get to you pretty close to being in tune. I owned one previously, but the build quality was subpar. The wires failed from fatigue so I tossed it. Going to try the Snark X to see if it will hold up this time. Some of my friends use them and they seem to be happy with them.
That’s looks sick actually! The metronome tuner combo is a great idea. 1 very accuracy is p standard for a headstock tuner, prob 3x better than Snark per estimates
I've had 5 snark tuners. I've finally given up on them. The readout on one was so dim that it was hard to read INDOORS, even with a new battery. Another simply would not accurately tune. I was hopelessly out of tune with the band and had to give up and tune to the piano on one string and use harmonics for the rest. And yes, it was in 440 mode. But the bottom line is that once I stopped seeing them as the gold standard I realized they simply were not that good. I'm on my computer right now because I'm looking for another tuner. One that may actually work.
Your comment could have been easily written by me with the same experiences albeit with just 4 snark tuners. I'm also looking for another brand tuner during the thanksgiving holidays and hopefully get one during the black Friday sales.
For a mini pedal tuner hands down I would go with the Sonic Research Turbo Tuner. It is affordable and it is the most accurate tuner, true bypass, small footprint. It’s like as accurate as a Peterson. When the Polytune came out it was pretty crazy and understandably everyone was stoked on the technology, but because you can tune every string at once you trade in some accuracy. I think they’re alright and I’d take them over a KORG Pitchblack in terms of durability. But turbo tuner all the way!
@@ShreducationNation I somehow just now got the message you had replied. Crazy. I still haven't bought a new tuner lol So this info should help me choose. I appreciate it.

But it does have the same problems all headstock tuners seem to have. that is, it kinda jumps around regarding the readings. I got the "100" model with the tapered knobs and the aaa battery. So far I really like it.
In the sledgehammer custom 100? I haven’t had it jump around personally but I do know that situation and it sucks. Glad to hear the rest is working out! I randomly happened upon a USB C rechargeable Korg somebody left at my studio and I’ve been using that as well lately and that’s been cool! Just for home use

Funny video. First thing that popped up when I searched for a tuner superior to my SNARK...because it REALLY IS INACCURATE, and it seems to be getting worse. I use a Korg GA-1 my mom got me one with my first guitar I’m on my 2nd one now and I’ve been playing for 25 years
Something’s never get old
I just use an app on my phone called pro guitar tuner. And then I use an app to remove the ads.
Not bad, I like the guitar toolkit and then the Peterson strobe tuner app
@ShreducationNation the only problems I've got with mic tuners would be if you're outside with traffic. That's where the vibration tuners definitely shine lol
i'm sold but sweetwater is sold *out*. where do i get one of these bad boys?
Always gotta give first dibs to the boys in Fort Wayne (much props to my guy Justin Sunday) but you can actually get em off Amazon prime shipping I’m p sure. And if you hate it you can return it back to a Kohls within 60 days without the box. Everyone wins.
I missed everything after the min keyboard blower a Hahahaha
It’s actually just a huge huge keyboard
Agreed! Snark is junk! Break and don’t tune accurately. Peterson has a badass tuner.
If we’re talking just clips the stroboclip is incredible and I do own one but these Korgs have the same accuracy at less than half the price. For pedal tuners I love the Peterson strobostomp but again, Sonic research Turbo Tuner gets you same strobe tuning accuracy in a way smaller chassis for around $109
1:50 No 432Hz? Not for me.
They’re missing on that one
hmmm...seems to work fine for me. Guess I'm just a mark ass buster.
This description seems possible but not plausible! | ) that’s a Geordie from Star Trek smiley face
There fine , nice tunners .
Way too much cursing for me to watch your video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😭😭😭
Sorry, dude, but I've had a Snark for the past 3 years and it works just fine. Maybe you're using yours wrong.
just bought one- so fucking done with snark
Sick! Let me know how you like it. My two Korgs are still holdin strong
how about the Boss Tu3? my local shop has a used one for $69 (nice) and it looks brand new
TU3 is great and that’s a great price! Pun both intended and not. Pedal tuner is almost always preferable for electric but a lot of times clips will work better for acoustics live
My top rec is the Sonic Research turbo tuner mini, strobe tuner that’s super accurate and not expensive, but can’t beat that price on a Tu 3
And how about when they simply refuse to pick up your note and you end up having to ask your bandmate to give you a pitch

I just get the cheap shitty Aroma tuners off of Ebay. They work and they are cheap so I don't give a fuck when some asshole steals one or one breaks or I lose one ect....
Damn those are really cheap. Maybe you do have the right idea.
@@ShreducationNation Bro... I think of clip on tuners like cigarette lighters; They are just going to disappear so why give a shit?
If you are having problems tuning in the sun... Tune in the shade before the gig or during breaks, If the guitar can't stay in tune for a set then that's a whole other issue.
A good idea is to purposely tune new string high to stretch them before a gig. If that doesn't work, get better tuner pegs.
If that doesn't work throw the fucking guitar in the trash or donate it to an Ethiopian.
My 12 year old snark got (gods honest truth) eaten by my dogs (plural) yesterday and im reluctant to get a new one.
I am a shitty guitar player but I can redeem myself by stating I have never owned one these allegedly POS tuners!😆
That immediately gets you a brown belt in guitar
@@ShreducationNation that’s good seeing as I now hone my skills on a 1996 Silver Sparkle that has been modded into the Gibson Hall of Fame!! Ohhhh yeah, black belt here I come!!
So much snark in this video.
I guess I really missed the mark ;(
@@ShreducationNation 😁
i agree, i must have 4 snark tuners..
and none of them are the same tune the same pitch.. save your money
Tune up by ear ! (spend small money on a "E" tuning fork.)
junk.
Snark tuners are not that bad... So many musicians can tell the same...
Buy your fish a real tank
I agree Snarks have gone down the pan get a Boss TU3 pedal tuner saves running off to the toilets to tune your guitar 🤣
Snarky 🥶
MY sUPER sNARK TUNER IS THE WORST TUNER IVE EVER OWNED. i wasnt noticing the accuracy i am pu off by the fact it has such a slow responce i must deadedn the string and pluck anew each time i make an adjustment n . I hate it!
