    • @tyrantworks9604

      But, it's not the mirror of twilight, if you compare it in game to the twilight princess mirror, they don't share any resemblances outside of the same shape. The design is different, as well as the fact that it shouldn't even exist anymore.
      Edit: Additionally, the sealing point for Ganondorf, also known as the Mirror of Twilight, was located in the Gerudo Desert, not in the faron woods

      @@Detura While yes, the shell of the mirror could have been relocated, that doesn't explain how it was rebuilt after it shattered into nothing via twilight magic. The better question is, why would they move it? The Arbiter's grounds are currently in ruins, and I'm assuming that the time it would take for it to collapse would be long enough for the people who know about the mirror's existence to forget. If the Twilight Princess Zelda/Link moved it, then again, why? If it's for sentimental value, why not move it to Link's home or closer to the castle?

    • @InvaderGIR98
      @InvaderGIR98 4 года назад +16

      I think the more important factor here is that it's implied to be a Shiekah artifact. It's being repaired reveals a shrine. Which makes sense if the Twili were a split branch of Shiekah, they have similar motifs and designs (the eye sigil, for example.)

    • @LAK_770
      @LAK_770 4 года назад +11

      @@tyrantworks9604 I don't think we're supposed to think it's the same mirror, or built out of the shell - the video argues a new mirror was built, for the purposes of bringing Midna/the Twili back (because they missed Midna?), in which case it easily could have been simply built down in Faron Province. How the Hylians built the new mirror or why Faron was chosen, who knows, but I mean, a suitable explanation wouldn't be hard to produce for the writers. The whole "Twili coming back via the new mirror, becoming the Zonai, sealing Ganon after the previous Calamity, then vanishing and becoming the Sheikah and Yiga" is a little much to accept outright, but it's kind of necessary to explain why this incarnation of Ganon is sealed by Twilight magic, long after Midna shattered the first mirror. But it all kind of fits and none of it is SUPER far fetched.

  • @spyrochick101

    Very interesting...also I myself figured the hand left Ganon because Zelda was falling and Link catches her, but then he starts to fall and reaches out for anything to grab onto. Thats where we see that shot of the hand grabbing Link's hand. The ghost hand saved them both in exchange for letting go of Ganon and thus breaking the seal. This is how I interpreted that part of the trailer.

I mean sure it's always possible and I'm sure small groups of people from other races were indeed involved, but probably not enough to make that much of a difference.
      Then there is the matter this video brings up regarding the ancient helm midna used having a sheika eye on the back side of it.
      Pretty hard to see any other group of people being involved as the sheika eye isn't really known to be anyone elses moniker symbol in the entire franchise.

    • @deadtoallnohonornohope
      @deadtoallnohonornohope 4 года назад +17

      I think the twili might be the children of the gerudo and the sheikah interlopers forced into the twilight realm. Midna does have red hair and so do literally all of the twili and the have the red eyes of the sheikah that would literally mean midna would be distantly related to possibly groose, gannondorf and impa due my hypothesis concluding the twili being the hybridization of gerudo and sheikah forced to adapt to the twilight realm and forced to intermingle to survive. It is evident that the magic, culture and genetics of the gerudo and sheikah mixed forming the twili. It's in their clothes , architecture and even appearance the blueish skin and bioluminescence of certain parts of their body being an adaptation to the surrounding twilight realm.

    Good video, and interesting take to connect TP to BoTW. The only thing I respectfully disagree with is that Link would willing release Ganondorf from his bondage. While Link has been shown in the past to tricked into freeing a villain, i. e. Vaati, I think this situation wouldn’t go the same way. Unless Ganon somehow brainwashes Link upon his arrival, I don’t think he saw a corpse with Malice emitting from it and thought, “Gee, maybe I should help release this guy.” Ya know? Still, I liked this video overall and a lot of it made sense.

    • @Xenogamer
      @Xenogamer  4 года назад +10

      That is a very good point, Ganondorf’s appearance alone should be a pretty good tip-off to Zelda and Link that this corpse might be evil. It’s definitely not full proof; there is still so much about the game we don’t know. I’ve come to the conclusion that two possible events could lead to Ganondorf’s awakening at the end of the trailer. Either Link awakens the hand, as I suggested in this theory, or the hand leaves Ganondorf of its own will to save Link. I just have trouble seeing the latter happening.

    • @javiervasquez8995
      @javiervasquez8995 4 года назад +4

      ¿Has anyone considered the possibility that the Hand could actually make Link become slowly corrupted by it's power to the point that it would make him a slave of Ganondorf? Based on what the trailer has shown it's possible that the Hand could lead this incarnation of Link to become a new version of Dark Link.

    • @HazyGrove
      @HazyGrove 4 года назад +16

      My take: The hand is supposed to be sealing the Malice inside Ganondorf's corpse to stop the cycle of Demise's curse. It's failing slowly over time, allowing for the creation and cycle of the Calamity Ganon. This Zelda is known to be an explorer and seeker of knowledge. She's drawn to the immense magical power of the seal, which transfers itself to Link when it senses the Spirit of the Hero within him. It would be the best chance of the Malice being re-contained or destroyed.

    • @endless_del
      @endless_del 4 года назад +12

      i think people are over complicating the reason behind link and zelda going to the caverns a bit. they could be looking for more sheikah technology, as the divine beasts were found underground. but imo, they're probably trying to find the source of the malice to eliminate it without thinking it could have ties to ganon/ganondorf. they assume ganon is dead, but leftover malice still hangs around hyrule and inhibits their rebuilding process. they probably traverse underground for this reason-- although it is possible ganon is controlling the malice to make a trail leading to his corpse. no brainwashing required.

    • @harleyspawn
      @harleyspawn 4 года назад +12

      I like the idea of everyone forgetting about Ganon the man, after focusing on Calamity Ganon for thousands of years. It would be an easy way for Link and Zelda to discover a mummified body and wonder just who it is. Maybe they don't have to be tricked into it since his identity has been lost to time. Plus, they might not imagine he's still alive after being imprisoned for so long; they may assume the body is just a corpse that needs to be purified by the sword that seals evil.

    I feel like your theory misses the gerudo's involvement in the matter. I love the connection to the Zonai and the twili, but implying that the husk is the same man as the one who fell in TP is a stretch, why is the rest of his garb more akin to the the more recent designs of the gerudo? In the final battle, Urbosa makes a comment about their people repenting for the past. I can't help but feel theres a story there, that perhaps another male gerudo was born, to mixed reception around the kingdom. As reports of growing hords of monsters he is called into question by dissenters. Hes then lead to the castle and murdered in a vain attempt to stop the malice, but only releasing it. Or perhaps it was an experiment of sorts, to remove either the malice or the triforce of power. I don't know, its just the tone of the trailer and some of the lore in BOTW seemed to imply that there's some dark secret, some fault of the original parties involved that started this calamity.

  • @gungus_spungus
    @gungus_spungus 4 года назад +15

    So heres my theory. When Ganon was first imprisoned, they purposely ripped his soul out of his body, leaving it to linger, while his physical body technically lived. They figured that if he can't die, he can't be reincarnated.The hand was like a seal to keep his souls from returning to his body. But before Ganon was imprisoned, he set his body up to produce the malice, which he would eventually use to form himself a new body. This body was the half ganon half machine monstrosity that we saw at the end of the first game. The giant bull thing was pure, unbridled, malice. And the calamity Ganon we see from the first tower is simply his spirit. The hand was actually from the link before the Hero of The Wild. What no one knew was that Ganon planned all along to be imprisoned. It was all part of his master plan. But Ganon didn't anticipate Link being resurrected. So after 10,000 years, the seal is beginning to weaken, when suddenly, link wanders along, and the hand recognizes the spirit of its former self and attempts to return, which sets Ganon free and starts everything right back up again.
    The reason nintendo made it so difficult to connect this game to the others is because it's not supposed to be connected. It was made so that they could try again with the whole timeline thing. It's a soft reboot. They are acknowledging that everything else happened, but it doesn't affect anything. Nintendo is trying to right their wrongs without potentially digging themselves further into the timeline hole.

    Zeldas mother was supposed to help zelda unlock her seal power, the hands power was to seal what if the seal was slipping and her mom joined the seal to buy us more time to train and prepare for the calamity 100 years ago? We already know the sheikah were pretty big on sacrifice and researched heavily into souls (according to either Nintendo black crisis or Zeltics theory, cant remember) I think it would be interesting and worth looking into, since we dont know hardly anything about her mom.

    what if the hand is zants?
    i mean we never see a spirit disappear away from the dead twilight princess ganon, so perhaps zant couldn't leave? forever bound to Ganons power? therefore, he tried to kill TP ganon by snapping his neck to forever kill him, but to no avail. so when the malice came, he tried to prevent ganon to come back to life by using ganons old power? it'd explain why theres so much powerful malice, because his power never left because zants still bound to his power, and he never passed on

    • @stevensmith284
      @stevensmith284 4 года назад +5

      I'm pretty sure Fierce Deity was never an actual person. It took a long time, but I think I've figured out that it was the personification of the people of Terminas hate towards the skull kid/majora. I remember seeing a snippet in an interview that said something along the lines of fierce deity not existing as a being. You only get the mask if you hand over all the masks you've collected, which are obtained from people who have been wronged by majora in some way. Those masks harbor the resentment those people had. And when link dons a transformation mask, he takes the form of that person. When he dons the fierce deitys mask, he doesn't change form, he is still himself(his older self). When you receive the mask it also says is it's dark power as bad as majora. Dark power meaning hate, vengeance. Basically the people's resentment turns to a dark power and Link uses that to combat majora.

    • @MrZangetsu468
      @MrZangetsu468 4 года назад

      Steven Smith Wasn’t it Aonuma that stated the FD mask was the collective negative emotions/ feelings of the Terminians? It makes sense. What’s curious is why these emotions look like Adult Link(not being from Termina) before Link even wears the mask... Zelda.Gamepedia states “The Fierce Deity is the representation of the feelings of all people populating the land of Termina. This representation is reinforced by the fact that it was necessary to exchange all the masks obtained thanks to the different interactions, actions and help provided to the characters of the game in order to obtain the Fierce Deity's Mask.”... I wonder if the appearance of the mask then simply matches the person wearing it, rather than looking like Link by default.

    • @stevensmith284
      @stevensmith284 4 года назад

      @@MrZangetsu468 In the interview I read Aonuma simply stated, "The best I can give you is just a suggestion. The best way to think about it is that the memories of all the people of Termina are inside of the Fierce Deity Mask.”, so if he did actually state it it was in an interview that I haven't read lol As far as the appearance of the mask, I have 2 theories. First being that since it contains the memories of the people of Termina, those memories have Link in them because he's the one who helped them. Second theory is that Majora made it look like Link because that's who he made it for. I learn towards the first one, but regardless, Majora had to have created it. The main point I was trying to get across in my original comment though was just that there is no soul attached to the mask.

    If the royal family of hyrule wanted to make a new mirror and bring the Twili back, it could've been not because of Midna but because the Twili and their technological advancements could help the royal family a lot, probably by mixing both Sheikah and Twili knowledge and thus forming the Zonai tribe.
    If that broken mirror in Faron was anything important, it could've been the new mirror, which was given to the Zonai as a memorial of their relations or something. But I don't think it really matters anymore and will lay there until time gets rid of it.
    Also, as stated in the video, I think the Zonai did sacrifice themselves to seal Ganon's malice. Since luminous stones are supposed to be made of people or living being's spirits, then that luminocity, which is the same as the hand's, could explain what the hand actually is: The concentration of all the Zonai's souls to create a piece of complex magic-based technology that could seal ganon until it sometime in the future fades away, and probably Link and Zelda go there to find a way of putting an end to it. Maybe they found something about the Zonai, Sheikah or Twili that could help them destroy the source of the malice once and for all. Maybe Link and Zelda will have to restore that new mirror and do... something with it.
    What if they had to go back in time and learn about the demons that once threatened the land prior to the events of Skyward Sword?
    I mean, Guardians and Botw's blue lights are supposed to be Time Stones from Skyward Sword, right?
    What if by knowing how the source of malice works, they could find a way to destroy Ganon?
    And by "the source of malice" I don't mean Ganondorf's corpse, i'm actually talking about Demise and his demon army.
    Malice also appears in Skyward Sword... an item has it as a purple substance, and beneath the Ancient Cistern there are pools of that same substance which turns the dead bokoblins into zombies just like in Breath of the Wild it can revive dead enemies during Blood Moons or just straight up making flying skulls...
    There has to be a connection between BotW, TP and SS...
    Sorry for my bad english, but I really wanted to theorize a bit...

Plus the body of the hero was made of green swirls like the hand. I still feel Ganon is the villain. he is basically Demise reincarnated. like zelda is the goddess hylia and link is the first hero & hylia's champion whose name was also link. Ganon has always been a bad dude. I do not believe souls change in the zelda-verse that drastically because link and zelda don't and have pretty much always been the same basically.
      the Twili, Garudo, & Zonai all have red hair. Link could have very well been a Zonai in his past life even though it is unusual and Link normally has blonde hair and is reincarnated as a hylian. there is also high speculation that the Zonai were/are the Twili and disapeard some time in the distant past through the mirror that you can find near the Zonai ruins.
      also i like your idea of past Link being reduced to a hand because he is running out of power and will soon loose his grip on the seal anyway.

    Interesting. My theory is that after twilight princess, the body of the deceased ganondorf was brought back to the castle to place him in a type of suspended animation that would prevent the cycle from occurring again preventing him from reincarnating. The first calamity was the first appearance of the curse of demise trying to free itself from the captured body and exist I think botw 2 will be then seeking out the forgotten body of ganondorf and finding away to stop the cycle of the curse. The hero fighting Calamity Ganon with Zelda seems to be someone other than Link...A Red headed built individual holding a big weapon ressembling a claymore...could it be that he was the Zonai (Twilli) who sealed Ganondorf's corpse? What about Link? Where was he? Still in the womb?

      That figure on the tapestry definitely is interesting to say the least. It couldn’t have been BOTW’s Link since the tapestry depicts the calamity 10,000 years ago, but it is possible that the figure is an ancestor of Link that belonged to the Zonai. The yellow and blue coloring of his hand also looks quite similar to the hand on Ganondorf, so maybe there is a connection there.

  • @unknownbaconator
    @unknownbaconator 4 года назад +2

    @xenogamer great theory! it touches a lot of hyrule lore and makes great connections. Have you possibly considered the Master Sword and it’s abilities? For example: “The sacred blade is also capable of destroying magical barriers and breaking curses that involve powerful, dark magic. In addition, it has the ability to lock away the remains of a demon” I think it’s crucial to look at these aspects. Especially if we consider that the Master Sword posses the spirit of Fi, a spirit that is awaken within the sword. In Windwaker the master sword faces trials in which it awakens it’s true power before sealing away Ganon. The notion is that, perhaps Link sealed away Ganon through the sword. But when the sword was placed back in the pedestal by Zelda. It returned to its unawakened state, in which the ability to lock away “remains of a demon” were held dormant. Perhaps when Link appears in BOTW to wield the master sword for his second time, he breaks A curse and perhaps Link’s interactions with the master sword relate to the “remains of the demon” as seen in BOTW 2’a trailer. I think it’s even greater when you consider that Gerudo Ganon was killed and “sealed” away through the power of the master sword. BUT. Calamity Ganon is a pure form of hatred that embodies Ganon, in which Ganon prefers. Perhaps when Calamity Ganon dies, the curse is lifted and the return of Gerudo Ganon comes to fruition, finally breaking the seal but also restoring its curse. Perhaps the ending scene is very well gerudo dead ganon. Im guessing that dead Ganon has a connection to the twilight realm and this is perhaps what we see. Since that dead gerudo ganon in the basement was killed by the Twilight Princesses’ master sword. It’s just some thoughts I had considered since I haven’t really seen anyone go into the Master Sword. And you did make a great connection to indicate the similarities between BOTW Ganon’s corpse and TLOZTP’s Ganon. Especially the wound. So eh. Maybe worth considering.

    I think the hand symbolises the triforce of courage and it was put there by an ancient hero or he's descendants. The Malice and Calamity gannon are actually Ganondorf's Soul, but solidified with the triforce of power. As Link and Zelda explore the Caverns, Ganondorf makes an earthquake and that causes link to fall. Because the hand contains the spirit of the hero, it saves link and breaks the seal of Ganondorf and he then awakens

    Are we really forgetting that in OoT daddy G takes the master sword to the dome and still needs to be sealed away?
    The Master Sword does degrade malice though, and as far as I remember the master sword was never seen removed from Ganondorf. I find it likely he may have just been “sealed” at the time, and Zant snapping his neck could be a way of saying “even if you come back, have fun trying to take over Hyrule with your snapped vertebrae”
    They also had to do something with the body, as they wouldn’t just leave the “corpse” of an ancient enemy that keeps finding his way back out in Hyrule field, not to mention there is the ritual using Links blood that can revive him, though that may only be possible if he’s gone full Ganon for all I know 🤷🏻

    I've been talking about this very connection and idea since September. I completely agree with you. Nice connection with the new dark mirror and the thought that the Twilii returned to become the Zonai.
    I also think it could be possible that before Midna returned back to the Twilight Realm in TP that Link and Zelda took Ganondorf's body to its location and Midna sealed him away with her magic there. The snippet shown in BOTW2 feels like perhaps a memory recall to the past of either the bloodline of the goddess or the spirit of the hero...the latter of which was indeed friends with the Twilight, and also had connection to Wolf Link.

    When they are exploring the dungeon you can see the hand. Grabbing Link to stop him falling when he grabs Zelda. When the magic begins to infuse with Link's hand, I believe when he sees Zelda fall he accidentally touched it when running to save her. Then he went back to continue examining it and when he went back to examine it the magic began reacting to him in a way. I think it is a form of Twilit magic because looks at the Twili folk. They have some green on it so are the Twili sharing their knowledge on how to seal him away again? Or is it them donating their strength to get him back to his full power like he was in Twilight Princess? And could Link find the pieces of the fused shadow to give to a Midna esque character?

  • @alexphotiou3607
    @alexphotiou3607 4 года назад +3

    what i initially thought was that the 'hand' called out to link and zelda because it the seal was weakening, and it merged to link so that link and zelda had the best chance to defeat ganondorf (the hand ultimately gives link new powers).This would also make sense from a gameplay standard because it would provide a way for link to gain new powers (bear in mind this is the same link from BoTW who was already powerful) and introduce new powerscaling. Also the heroes hand on the tapestry at 6:47 does appear to have some marking which has some similarity to the hand sealing ganondorf, meaning that the original hero might be bestowing power onto link through this hand.

    Random theory. What if the Zonai were primitive Hylians that were intervened by the Twili. The Twili used the Twilight mirror to open up wormholes into different multiverse, timelines, parallel universe ect. to join the twilight universe with other time lines. By the way thank you! That comparison of Midnas' crown and the Zonai gave me chills down the spine. Great minds think alike.

    I almost wonder if the hand is the spirit of the hero from 10,000 years ago. It's already believed that the ancient hero in the tapestry might have been part of the zonal tribe. Maybe that link possessed an incredible sealing power that put both him and Ganondorf into a sealed state. And maybe the reason links arm has the abilities similar to the sheika skate, is the previous hero was the one who helped design the slates functions. The ancient hero's spirit attaches itself to link s damaged arm and heals it while he embodies a limb for the hero of the wild.

    The reunified timeline theory is definitely neat but, I can’t bring myself to believe Breath of the Wild is anything other than a Child Timeline sequel.
    With castle town being north of the temple of time, the connections to TP’s Ganondorf, the mentioning of the Hero of Twilight by title in a cutscene, and the creative director saying Twilight Princess is ‘the starting point’ of Breath of the Wild, it just fits too perfectly.
    Plus, no trains. Not adult timeline.

    15:59 Twilight ganon has a small wound exactly whre the hand is on BOTW ganon. And its also exactly where twilight link does the final blow.
    Edit: maybe it was also a weak spot. Or a wound from an earlier time that slowed him down. And remember when midna was on the brink of death. A.K.A midnas darkest hour (Im pretty sure you can think of what im thinking since you've came up this video)

    I think Ganondorf used his remaining power to trigger a small earthquake, causing Zelda to fall. Link tries to grab her, but he's pulled off as well. The hand is given 2 choices: Hold the seal and let Link and Zelda fall to their death, ending the bloodline of the Goddess, or break the seal and save them. It chooses to save them.

    Also, with the Twili: A common plot point, found in some fanfictions, is that after TP's events, the goddesses forgive the Twili, and allow free travel between the realms. I know that doesn't mean it's canon, but still, it IS a fun theory.

  • @ATKOtter

    Interesting analysis, though the Japanese series website establishes that Breath of the Wild is canon to all three confirmed timelines (something about how it's so far off in the future that the truth has been lost to time, I assume, so there are legends of all three timelines), so Twilight Princess isn't the only definitive history of BOTW's Hyrule.

    To me Ganondorf and Ganon are 2 differents characters. One is the gerudo king and the other is the reincarnation of Demise. They both can't live without the other that's why If Ganondorf is about to die then Ganon appear. In breath of the wild Ganondorf is sealed and can't move then Ganon has to be there during this time. And I guess the true form of Ganon when Ganondorf is sealed is the "Calamity Ganon". In every Zelda Game we never sealed both of them but only one. So I'm not surprised he can come back everytime.

    The main thing I don't get is how Midna says that light and shadow shouldn't mix. But otherwise, if the Zonai tribe sacrificed themselves to be the seal, that could mean that the luminous stones we see in Hyrule contain the lingering effect of the sacrifice: the souls of the Zonai. This would explain why we see so much of it so close to the seal in the trailer.

This potentially could be links companion. Like midna hiding in your shadow or fi in the master sword it would allow the companion to be easily hidden in the over world but called out by a player input or story segment.

      @@grimmy7937 Also according to what's been stated so far regarding Demise's Curse it is fueled by his Hatred for the Goddess Hylia and her chosen Hero. Ganondorf has continuously shown throughout the series how much he hates Link and Zelda for getting in his way of obtaining the full Triforce so it just wouldn't make sense for him to suddenly change his personality just because he got sealed by a green Hand for over 10.000+ years. In fact i would say being him being sealed for THAT LONG would probably only increase his Hatred/Malice and he would probably want to finish Link and Zelda once and for all.
