Nintendo has called their next big Zelda a sequel of the last game at first before with past games. They did it with ALttP originally called Zelda 3 and TP was originally WW 2. Sequel with Nintendo sometimes really just means the next game of it's kind after the last one. Even if it's a prequel in story, it's still technically a "sequel" in terms of spiritual succession. And the trailer does make the game look like it's gonna focus more on what happened 10,000 years before BotW. Which really screams prequel. Also, the tapestry showed both the Hero and the Princess fighting Ganon together, and in the next game it looks like Link and Zelda will always be together, just like the 10k Hero and the 10k Princess. There's actually so many connections to the 10k legend in that trailer it's not even funny.
@@ali-d7662 Even though history tells us there's a chance it could be. And given what was shown, unless time travel is involved, the fact that there's no shrines or divine beasts (yet) like they were never there, Link and Zelda adventuring together this time, Calamity Ganon's Malice is still around, the glowing is like the 10k Hero's hand, all scream prequel to me. Again, ALttP was once called a sequel to Zelda II. And TP was referred to as Wind Waker 2. So should really treat them as such just because they were called that in the past? No! All we know is that it is simply only a "sequel" in that of the sense it is the successor to BotW. We don't actually know 100% if the game is actually after or before BotW. Just that it's BotW's successor, more of a spiritual "sequel" if you will. They probably found it easier to call a "sequel" for now. If they called it a prequel, it would really give away and spoil what the game is about. So they're probably throwing us off intentionally so that the surprise of the game actually being a prequel isn't ruined! Point is, every piece of evidence from the trailer point to this game being prequel or featuring time travel. Especially given from what we know from BotW about the 10k legend. And seeing how Zelda is there with Link this time, unless that's past Zelda, or the Link there is past Link, I don't see time travel being involved. That said, the game being a prequel is far more likely! Not to mention much more cheaper, simpler, and quicker for Nintendo to pull off in three to four years.

Thoughts: Another knock against the prequel theory is Zelda`s hair was never shown as short in the first game, also, in the first game there was no emphasis on links hand Field dungeons could be newer or changed versions of the boko skulls forts or tree forts. The specification of field dungeons makes me think that there will still be an open world theme, but more kinds of forts/outposts. Overall, I think this is an attemp to fix some of the empty areas on the map, a very welcome change to me. We may even see bigger towns and friendly guardians! Lots of possibilities. The towns may be occasionally attacked (maybe yiga guardians) while the player is underground, and when you fight your way back up, you fight the raids off. The game is supposed to be darker, so maybe there will be some towns you cant save. Idk too many possibilities
It could also be that what they showed was early-ish in development, and that they weren’t there because the team hadn’t gotten around to remodeling them for the sequel

The Divine Beasts aren't in there places after the attack on Calamity Ganon. This made me think that the missing shrines, towers and the Divine Beast have a connection. Also, in one of your videos you talked about how the Zonai mysteriously disappeared maybe there is a connection between them. 🤔
If dungeons make a come back, will they have the convenient item that allows you to complete the dungeon and explore the world more? That seems to go against the open air feel of BOTW. Also, if the items can only be used in the dungeons, that limits the excitement of them. Maybe the new dungeons can have different themes like in previous games, but give you the unique items at the end of the dungeons. As for the title of the new game, I think the only reason for it to be called "Breath of the Wild 2" is if they make a trilogy and have all of them connect into one big story.

@@Xenogamer Yeah you're likely right. I think I am remembering hearing that the open world formula will be the main future. Plus the game was very popular mainly because it's open maybe.
I almost feel like once a game franchise goes open world, there’s no going back. But just because it’s open world doesn’t mean it can’t have traditional dungeons. I think Witcher 3 proved you can have both open world exploration and a strong narrative.
Nice vid, personally I would love to see a return to dungeons with something similar to Hyrule Castle, very excited for the sequel and your next videos!
WELL, I think that given the premise of exploring a large underground tunnel, I think there will obviously be way more islands but I think they are I imagine deciding on adding a bunch of segments underground, or maybe inside mountains themselves or other areas like that which were not filled in on in the first game. Or maybe the thing with Ganondorf and Link re-using the Guardians maybe it sets off some ancient mechanism that unlocks a bunch of mechanical things all over Hyrule.
The Legend of Zelda: The Seal of Ganon The blue arm holding Gandorf back (his seal) breaks, and Link receives the sealing powers. (Maybe the Master Sword can no longer seal Ganon - Maybe this is why it’s not needed in the Final Boss Fight) Since Link and the Master Sword are bound as one, Link becomes the thing that seals the darkness.
I would think the memories of Ganondorf coming back and Hyrule castle rising into the sky would be more important than Link eating a rock… and trying to retroactively insert Ganondorf in a prequel when no one knew anything about him and Zelda and Link clearly being closer than they ever were before the Calamity hit… this is reaaaaally reaching out there… even for a pre-AoC video
I would be happy for the game to have it's subtitle be "____ of the Wild". It would be fitting, as the only other times the franchise got direct sequels were Adventure of Link which got a 2, but after the title, not the subtitle, and the Oracle games being sequels of eachother and notably both having the name "Oracle of _____". And I know OoT/MM and WW/PH are sequels in the sense that they continued to feature that particular Link. But they did NOT continue the story of the game that came before, instead telling whole new ones. Which is something BotW2, Adventure of Link, and the Oracle games actually do. Some name ideas might be "Plague of the Wild", "Return of the Wild", or "Link of the Wild"
The oracles zelda games are not sequel to eachother it's just 2 similar games where 1 thing cjange between both of them. also i'm personally against the sequel to be "__ of the Wild" because it would fits it and because i'm not sure the game will be mostly based on the wild be mostly underground (for the main story) Not saying it would be Breath of the Underground which look ugly and dumb but something else that would fits it more
Like there's lots of possibilities to the ancient unexplored sheikah civilization that supposedly once existed maybe, they could explore Hyrule's past a bit more. They hint a lot throughout the game that the Medallions and three jewel things link has to collect in the child timeline to unlock the sacred realm.
A prequel would sorta be redundant, it showed cut scenes quite in depth explaining what happened in the past, and it's alluded to that it was very similar to what happened in BotW.
20 bucks says they just used a fresh BOTW1 game's view of Hyrule to be rendered for the trailer as they didn't have the plans ready/work done for "new Hyrule" and everyone's reading waaaay too much into it.
I think It's a sequel, but Zelda and Link go back in time to save all the innocent lives and prevent the Calamity, since Zelda now knows how to unlock her sealing power, perhaps they go back to tell the old Zelda how to use it? But then, why would they be in the cave looking for something? 🤔
My theory for a tittle is "The Legend of Zelda: Spirit of the Hero" and the hand is a physical manifestation of the Spirit, extracted by the Sheikah to form a Seal on Ganondorf. Only a part being used so that a hero continues to be reborn, but not complete. Now the Hero Spirit might become whole again to fight off Malice afflicting Hyrule
Nice video buddy. I think the theory that the shrines and towers are no longer needed, and that why we don’t see them in the trailer for Zelda 2, is the more likely. I’m a long time Zelda fan and I really enjoyed Zelda Breath of the Wild. In fact I’m still working on 100% completion of the game. I’m at 61%. Hope I can finish by Zelda 2 release.
I think the name would have just given all away and they want to remain anonymous as to what it will be.. Seems like everything is to remain mysterious.
I just got this video recommended, but I want to point out that A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds are "Triforce of Gods" and "Triforce of Gods 2" respectively in Japan (and in East Asia in general I think). Even though I think the sequel to BotW will have a unique name, it wouldn't be the first time Nintendo doesn't give a Zelda sequel its own name.
Don’t forget the other reason it’s probably not a prequel. Nintendo themselves stated that BotW 2 was originally planned as a BotW DLC before expanding into a game of its own.
The shrines and towers may have just been removed from the trailer, BUT there is also the possibility that yes they returned to the Earth or were "buried" again. Or were deconstructed.
I can agree with that. Finishing what they started, they would just go back into being inactive (a bit similar as Fi from SS) and same as the towers and shrines (finishing their "jobs" to help the hero into getting stronger would go back into the ground.
all those shrines you had to find through some sort of puzzle in the overworld could be field dungeons. I want dungeons like Hyrule Castle, but with a few more puzzles/locked doors. give me like six of those and a bunch of puzzles in the overworld, maybe like 50 shrines or something.
Shrines would just be a kind of copy paste, sadly. Dungeons like old Zelda games (for example OoT, TP, SS) would be more logic and just better in terms of the gameplay
The Legend Of Zelda: Spirit Seal, Point of the new game is to raise links spirit power (green arm) every dungeon serves to help link restore his new ability, perhaps to do with breaking the curses of ganon. SO every dungeon boss is an npc maybe that link needs to free and in doing so strengthens his overall spirit ability. I think Zelda will eventually attain a new ability, but alot of evidence suggests that the whole point about the sequel will revolve around spirits and discovering the truth and i really really hope that the curse will break and the next ganon will be born in tarry town and be a shop keeper selling me arrows.
Perhaps the Devine Beasts are part of the reason Hyrule Castle is being lifted into the air, perhaps they combined to form the Devine Beast Ganandorf Zord (sorry couldn't resist.) Perhaps Ganondorf's malic has somehow gotten a hold of the Devine Beats again and maybe they have tunnelled underground to lift Hyrule Castle into the air, it's unlikely to be the case since that would be a tad repetitive but it's the only theory i've got.
Well it's kinda complicated.. I can't see the divine beast "fusing" suddenly. And why would they lift up the castle? I can't see them doing that by themselves since i'm pretty sure they're out of functions as their prodigy are since they finished their job by beating calamity Ganon
Majora’s Mask is a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time but isn’t called Ocarina of Time 2, Even though the Ocarina is a major item in MM. This new entree is a direct sequel to BOTW sure but I have a feeling we’re getting something we are not expecting. Nintendo might be giving us a stronger story, dungeons, items, and music on what was built upon in BOTW. I mean, we are getting Ganondorf back, we all know what comes with it: classic Zelda
I honestly loved that BotW didn't have any traditional dungeons. I much prefer the Shrines and Divine Beasts. As crazy as it sounds, dungeons are my least favorite part of the Zelda series. Not to say I haven't thoroughly enjoyed many of them, it's just that I truly did not miss them when they were gone. Traditional Zelda dungeons as we know them don't make a lot of sense in an open world, non-linear setting. I just hope we still have the paraglider in the next game. I love floating down from high places. Its weirdly relaxing.
Wait I had a brain blast MAYBE THEY REMOVED THE SHEIKAH STUFF FROM THE TEASER TRAILER LIKE MARVEL DID WITH ENDGAME AND THEY WILL ADD SOOOOO MANY MORE BIGGER STUFF LIKE let's say an entrance to the volcano with a dungeon inside and new enemies I'm just putting a theory out but what if tho? What if....?
I wouldn't say there isn't Divine Beasts anymore, but just that they went back into another spot to stay inactive as they finished their job with Calamity Ganon. But there could possibly have dungeons.
Breath of the wild get followed up with restoring the country so "The Legend of Zelda, Flesh of Civilization", there you go, working fan title for the new game.
Zelda’s hair being short basically disproves it being a prequel, as her hair was shown to be long from the time Link became a champion to the time of the calamity.
No it doesn't! Why are people not understanding that the 10k legend time is also an option? Also, yes, I'm aware that the princess has long hair in the tapestry, but so does 10k Link. And finally the 10k legend could've been corrupted by time, as it is 10k years old after all. We don't really know what 10k Zelda and 10k Link actually looked like. But BotW 2 may answer that.
wait wait wait what if the shrines/towers aren't there cause mabey they haven't shown us yet but ganodorf takes over the hyrule castle and they deactivate like in (spoiler alert) age of calamity
also why would it be a preuqul all you dumb dumbs befor age of calamity think this why would they do this the memories show that link was recruited and was deling with calamity they could not do this between that plus we are talking a whole game link was not her knight nor went with her until the rise of calamity gannon was fortold no way botw could happen so fast unless this a 10 min game then prove me wrong
There's no way it can be a prequel. How could Link and Zelda be travelling together with Zelda's hair so short when we know that she had it long 100 years ago? Link wasn't even her personal knight for that long at the time before the Calamity, so how could they have possibly been traveling together long enough for Zelda's hair to get cut and then grow all the way back in time for the Great Calamity to happen? Why wouldn't Hyrule Castle have taken damage after eventually going back into the the ground after Ganondorf's defeat? Wouldn't the shrines still be visible even if they weren't glowing? At least a little? At wouldn't Zelda have had the Shiekah Slate even if the events of the Great Calamity hadn't happened yet? She had it for some time, but it isn't in the trailer at all. So anyway, it just can't be a prequel. It's chronologically impossible.
If u bang yo head against the wall for 15 min u might die..... So dont do it. Oh and dont forget they did it once with zelda 2 adventures of link "2" is in the title
I really think this game really is going to be prequel at this point! And it's title is going to be The Legend of Zelda: Dark Tombs as people having talking and spreading rumors and leaks about that potentially being the most likely title now. And I do think we will be able to explore underground as a whole second world, though more narrow and linear unlike the overworld. But exploring this game's underworld and with potential return of more classic enemies like Redeads (finally), the game should feel more traditional. And with this game being prequel, hopefully we'll get a cleaner version of the Tunic of the Wild. And hopefully we get the tunic of the wild, or as the would be called in this game, the tunic of the tombs, much sooner this time. Maybe we could find the tunic pretty early on in the tomb of past incarnation of Link. Perhaps FSA Link's tomb? I know he's toon in the games, but really he only had a green undershirt in FSA because of the toon style of that game if you ask me. The green undershirt thing is only canon in the actual Adult Timeline games for me. Could also be TP Link's tomb. How the past games were portrayed were really more just legends to the world of BotW and BotW 2. Especially looking at the Link's Awakening remake feature the same exact tunic instead of ALttP Link's usual yellow band green cap tunic. What if the Tunic of the Wild/Tombs really was the canon Hero's garment all along? And all the other designs were just of myth and legend. This would also explain why in TFH, it's like Link never wore his hair parted in middle before despite that he did wear his hair parted in middle in OoT.
There is way to much hint that show that it will be a sequel. If you want me to tell them ask me i'm kinda bored right now but i'll do it as soon as i'm up to if you ask
@@shinkiiolinvisible6851 Your logic must be really weird and backwards kid because everything points to prequel! No towers, no shrines, no beasts! Oh, and it shows how 10k Link got his F^&%ING GLOWY HAND just as like from the tapestry!!! So unless there's some time travel involved, I don't see how this game can be a sequel!
I hate how every theory on what the game's name will be is just "Breath of..." I mean if Nintendo really does that, sure I'll face-palm for their sake but most of my pain will come from the validation of all these lazy title theories.
its more likely to be something 'of the wild'. like 'soul of the wild', 'heart of the wild', 'return of the wild', 'hand of the wild', 'secret of the wild', etc
@@EmbassyNerdcore Wouldn't make any sense since the main story as they show in the trailer, will be underground. Having a similar name as botw would just be copy paste, useless (since they have the abilities to make a better one for sure) and bad for the fans
For me to consider buying it at all it needs sorely missed features lacking from botw1: -dungeons, temples, castles etc. -ability to turn off the horrible breaking of literally EVERYTHING you use (kept me from finishing the game due to the frustration of the system) -a better story -actual direction in the game -less "devices" with neon colours -absolutely no shrines (I HATE that they moved to using them instead of making something with depth) -the trials for the master sword were ridiculously hard and it's because of the the fucking weapons system and everything breaking and this is just an artificial feature which makes the game irritating. So they can't make it artificial. I want weapons to actually last the entire game. Botw is far and away the worst Zelda game I've ever played. I'm probably not going to buy botw2 because it's going to obviously follow the formula of botw1. And it may keep me from buying the next console to take over from Switch if they can't figure out a good Zelda game. I'd like something more like link to the past and Ocarina of Time. I reeaalllly hated botw.
Botw was just a starting point for then next games and punishing them for not repeating the same old things isn’t really a way to think. Plus having the weapons not break in this game would be far to op because you’ll just stick with your weapons and never have a variety. Also the games direction is anywhere you want to go really. Thats the point of this OPEN WORLD game. Shrines (while maybe being a bit repetitive) were well implemented for something to do to make the map more interesting and always something to do while exploring the massive map

What if they named it
Breath of the wild 2
*enter unique subtitle*
Would you bang your head?
A prequel would sorta be redundant, it showed cut scenes quite in depth explaining what happened in the past, and it's alluded to that it was very similar to what happened in BotW.
20 bucks says they just used a fresh BOTW1 game's view of Hyrule to be rendered for the trailer as they didn't have the plans ready/work done for "new Hyrule" and everyone's reading waaaay too much into it.
but the giant pillars surrounding hyrule castle are gone too, and they were there as soon as you leave the cave
I have never before wished so fervently for a video game title to end in “2”
I just got this video recommended, but I want to point out that A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds are "Triforce of Gods" and "Triforce of Gods 2" respectively in Japan (and in East Asia in general I think). Even though I think the sequel to BotW will have a unique name, it wouldn't be the first time Nintendo doesn't give a Zelda sequel its own name.
It wouldn't be the first time they have the same subtitle but adding a 2. Phantom Hourglass is called Triforce of the Gods 2 in Japanese.
Wouldn’t vah rudania just go back to the inside of the volcano?
Watch botw 2 be called, “The Legend of Zelda... The Shadow of the Calamity!”
Or maybe The Legend Of Zelda Return Of The King
The Legend of Zelda : Death of the Wild
Depths of Malice
I'd actually like to see dungeons in the sequel to be homages to the dungeons in the original LOZ.
I have a idea about were the devine beasts could be put. They could be put in the ocean.
I think Zelda will eventually attain a new ability, but alot of evidence suggests that the whole point about the sequel will revolve around spirits and discovering the truth and i really really hope that the curse will break and the next ganon will be born in tarry town and be a shop keeper selling me arrows.
i suggest Ganon's awakening
it literally says ”The Sequel” in the trailer
I have a feeling that time travel to the distant past might be involved in the new story.
I hope they go more into the zoni people..and I really hope its like a link to the past or a link between worlds love the concept of lorule
This will without a doubt happen
I keep getting hyped about this game gdi. I hope corona doesn't fuck everything up
Hi there! I really enjoyed the video, and like Your personality. You've got Yourself a new Sub ;P
Oh good name for this game should be called the legend of Zelda the return of Gannon Dorf
Nintendo hasn’t even given BotW2 a proper name. There’s no reason to think that’s the final title for the game.
How can you say that? They only gave us a Trailer to tell us it is in *development* .. It obviously will have one.
Rudania could have crawled back into the volcano
Does anyone know the music around 8 minutes?
1:02 whats the music name please ?
“Fi’s Gratitude” from Skyward Sword. It’s an amazing track.
@@Xenogamer Thank you!
Good video!
i just want the skull kids being somehow put into the game :(
What s the song playing at beginning the piano one
At least we won’t have those ugly lasers from the Devine beasts anymore.
I hardly noticed them xD
The sequel should be called the asthmatic edition
Just watch it be called Gasp of the wild.
Exhale of natural forces
I would agree to there being dungeons since I believe there isnt anymore divine beasts
But BotW 2 may answer that.
wait wait wait
what if the shrines/towers aren't there cause mabey they haven't shown us yet
but ganodorf takes over the hyrule castle and they deactivate like in (spoiler alert) age of calamity
also why would it be a preuqul
all you dumb dumbs befor age of calamity think this
why would they do this
the memories show that link was recruited and was deling with calamity
they could not do this between that
plus we are talking a whole game
link was not her knight nor went with her until the rise of calamity gannon was fortold
no way botw could happen so fast
unless this a 10 min game then prove me wrong
100% it will be something else "of the Wild". Like "Return of the Wild", "Hand of the Wild", "Secret of the Wild", or "Heart of the Wild".
Or “Breath of the ______”.
Ye I subbed my safeword is pickles
I like how you say s
Who else likes Zeldas haircut
This theory better be true the shrines are what ruined BOTW for me
Just saying, Four Swords Adventures isn't very unique.
a sequel isnt mean its before BOTW ? xD
Sequel is after
Prequel is before
@@shinkiiolinvisible6851 yah my bad you're right BRUH. Im kinda dumb 🤦
@@moino3818 It's fine dw lol
Age of calamity 😅
@James Parker Still if you argue only about the hair you're still wrong. There's to much to say
Song of Storms.
I rest my case.
@@PJCVita92 ahhh you must sound really dumb now.
For me to consider buying it at all it needs sorely missed features lacking from botw1:
-dungeons, temples, castles etc.
-ability to turn off the horrible breaking of literally EVERYTHING you use (kept me from finishing the game due to the frustration of the system)
-a better story
-actual direction in the game
-less "devices" with neon colours
-absolutely no shrines (I HATE that they moved to using them instead of making something with depth)
-the trials for the master sword were ridiculously hard and it's because of the the fucking weapons system and everything breaking and this is just an artificial feature which makes the game irritating.
@@domino3861 Yep plus botw 2 will use everything from the switch (something botw1 didn't since it was made for the wii u as well)
