100% dude, was so shocked first time I saw them in a little club in Bristol UK, after the release of their first albulm, should have been big enough to play a stadium. Totally underrated.
This song actually harkens back to the hardest times in my life. I have a history of what we will refer to as self-destructive behavior and this music.... the best way I can describe it is that it gave me a way to feel and process the excruciating anguish I was dealing with in a way that I didnt harm myself. In a way Seether saved my life.
I remember when this premiered on the Punisher 2004 movie soundtrack. It's a shame I won't ever be able to hear this specific version live because Amy Lee and Shaun Morgan are not only no longer dating, but it was a bad falling out. The subject of Evanescence's "Call Me When You're Sober" was allegedly about Morgan's alcohol abuse while they were together.
Omggggggg you doing my Alll time favorite song...this is everything 💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️the vocals in this..their simplicity is everything 🎤🎤🎤..Amy is a saint...I'm sorry No one will compare to her...2000s was the best music ever💯💯👌👌
Beth I've been a sub since you were in the hundreds. The production value and process you've put into your videos coupled with the energy...no wonder your growth has been so consistent. Cheers!
I found this song when I was a kid and I was so intrigued by the vocals on this song. I had never heard anything like it. I knew of Amy and Evanescence so I had familiarity to her sound but those details you mentioned like the chromatic scale added such an amazing sound. Although I didn’t know that’s what it was it’s interesting thing to know
Just wanted to chime in to say I’m a big fan of your album. It’s great. Your treatment of melodies/harmonies reminds me so much of Milla Jovovich’s early work (I know she’s an actor, but has a wonderful voice). I’ll be a fan of Beth Roars performances and critiques for a long time.
I always say its a shame Seether is mostly known for having made a song with Amy Lee. Don't get me wrong, Amy Lee is amazing, and so is this song. ( Even to a point, where every time you are at a Seether Concert, and they do play this song, people will shout, " Where is Amy " , must sting a bit also for them, having made so much amazing music, and the fact they where together and had a hard break up ) But Seether have made so many amazing songs, there lyrics are deep, and meaningful. The front singer can sing, his voice is insane. This band deserve to be more known, But most people just listen to this one song, and then move on from them. Or as part as learning about Amy Lee. And that to me is a shame. To name a few songs to do by Seether that will show a bit of everything, because they have emotional down to earth songs, rock, heavy rock and metal songs. One of the down to earth emotional ones could be : Tied my hands live. ruclips.net/video/pULe7-6yRo4/видео.html&ab_channel=SeetherVEVO Another could be there cover of Careless Whisper. ruclips.net/video/I7imqO-OBVk/видео.html&ab_channel=SeetherRarities Or just an overall amazing song in : Fine Again ruclips.net/video/oUP6gnO6FV8/видео.html&ab_channel=Seether-Topic Or a song about a loss he had because of suicide, something that made him donate and do a lot to help with that issue. ruclips.net/video/qP6JDLQF23g/видео.html&ab_channel=SeetherVEVO Or one of there harder songs : Gasoline ruclips.net/video/mF53On_P7qI/видео.html&ab_channel=SeetherVEVO One of the newer ones could be : Forsaken ruclips.net/video/nBkns12to18/видео.html&ab_channel=bcpop1997 Or one of my favorites : The Gift ruclips.net/video/vJUuzAnaWp0/видео.html&ab_channel=SeetherVEVO Even if you do not react to them, they are all worth listening to.
Shaun ( born Welgemoed and Original band Saron Gas) is proudly Born South African. I love this song as their voices are so good together. I love Amy. Fun Fact: he changed his surname cause Americans ,mostly, could pronounce the "G" sound in his surname which is uniquely South African
I saw Amy Lee on February 25, 2004 at the Congress Theater (max capacity of 4900) in Chicago. Seeing her in a venue that small was such a blessing. Her live voice was better than the recordings and I'm pretty sure that everyone in the venue wept when she sang "My Immortal."
Thanks for a great reaction & analysis Beth. Still love this song after dozens of listens. Amy & Shaun's harmonies are just so good and when adding the string section it just adds to the feel & impact of the track.
Both Seether and Breaking Benjamin come off like the typical 2000s sound when you first hear them, but if you dive into their catalogue over the course of their lengthy careers, you start to realize that they are uniquely talented. This is why the pop rock bands of the time like Trapt or Hoobastank fell off the map, but Seether, BB, Korn, Linkin Park, etc kept going.
Someone once ruined my life by pointing out that the lead singer in Seether's 'Broken' featuring Amy Lee enunciates his vowels like Cher, and now I can’t unhear it. Thanks for that, random stranger-I’ll never watch this video the same way again!
Would love to hear your thoughts on Cocorosie - Lemonade (Live on KEXP) they have such a unique sound you can pick them out from a crowd, one girl does this cool thing with her jaw so it sounds like she's singing underwater, definitely would love to hear a professionals opinion on what is going on in this song!
2010 on is so lacking in new mainstream rock bands. From alternative to metal.. there’s only a couple 2010 bands that headline tours. While the 2000s has dozens.
Together with Anneke van Giersbergen Amy is my favourite ❤ you definitely NEED to check out some more Anneke to start with the iconic strange machines live at pinkpop 1996 with her old band the gathering. (This band especially this song influenced so many queens like Floor Jansen and Simone Simons etc.) ruclips.net/video/1HUMwinV2AQ/видео.htmlsi=T6VY401j1mDGIWeC
Hey Beth! React to Leandro e Leonardo - Um Sonhador. They are Brazilian singers. I recommend the studio version because Leandro died in 1998 so I don't know if you will find a live performance of the quality of the studio version. Thank you and success!
I dunno, I was in high school when this came out and I didn't like it back then, still don't honestly. Disturbed or Ra made the heavier rock I wanted to listen to then, bands like The Used made the emo music, and Jimmy Eat World made the pop-rock sound (of course this is wildly simplistic compared to the amount of Rock Bands that were around at the time). The drawling of Seether felt a bit too 90's grunge to me, and it just wasn't really my slice of pie.
No disrespect to Amy Lee, whatsoever. But I actually prefer the original version of this track where its just him. This version is still great. I am not knocking it at all. Just my own preference.
Great reaction and what a song collaboration! I think you just coined the term "dopey larynx" :D Suggest a future reaction to this young lady who deserves it: ruclips.net/video/X7M2oRgmwds/видео.htmlsi=udAA0Sxnxt9SvPT1
Beth, please, react to Elba Ramalho and Dominguinhos. This song is one of the most famous song from the 80's. It's from the northeast of Brazil. ruclips.net/video/2rzNUb9L4Us/видео.htmlsi=_YcdcSsCGKdvt6YC

Her voice is incredible. Too bad it's in this song. This sounds to me like every generic alternative "rock" from the mid/late '90s, right down to the meaningful acoustic guitar and the unnecessary orchestral insertion. And most of those songs were bad then. The male singer is even trying - and failing - to channel Eddie Vedder. Was Amy working off some kind of community service? (Now, let's watch as people get furious because I have a different opinion.)

Her voice in this song has always given me absolute chills. She just melts me
I think when they add an orchestra to a rock song it takes it to another level. Beautiful.
Michael Kamen would agree.
I agree! I love that combination! The band Skillet uses that combination a lot!
Just a cello or a violin add so much
@@TheRealAb216seems like any bow played string instrument really, doesn’t it?
Still one of my favorite early 2000's songs to this day.
SEETHER brought me here. They don't need her to make this a great song. Nothing against her really. SEETHER deserves more attention.
Love seether
I love both but I've never understood how Seether wasn't bigger than they got. I love his voice.
100% dude, was so shocked first time I saw them in a little club in Bristol UK, after the release of their first albulm, should have been big enough to play a stadium. Totally underrated.
excited, this is my all time favorite song.
This song actually harkens back to the hardest times in my life. This particular song didn’t do that for me, but I absolutely know what you mean; different songs for me, but same feeling.
I remember when this premiered on the Punisher 2004 movie soundtrack. I really liked the 2004 Punisher movie.
@thepayne7862 I did, too, especially the director's cut
That entire soundtrack was golden, loved the movie too.
Great movie
3:27 This song was featured on the soundtrack for The Punisher (2004). Daredevil (2003) features Evanescence’s Bring Me To Life & My Immortal.
Also Seether's "Hang On"
Omggggggg you doing my Alll time favorite song...this is everything 💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️the vocals in this..their simplicity is everything 🎤🎤🎤..Amy is a saint...I'm sorry

She is the best female singer ever.

I still love playing this song on guitar, was just playing it this past weekend
This is one of the songs that gave me goose bumps and made me tear up a bit.

You HAVE to check out "lost in paradise" live at the Nobel awards
When I was a teenager I pretended that I was in this videoclip singing his part 😂😂😂😂😂 Life was so easy back then
You need to listen to Liniker, she recently won a Latin Grammy. She sings with her whole body, it's beautiful to see how she interprets the songs.
This is true!
Its you. Its nostalgic for you. That is when you were a kid. That is how nostalgia works.
I loved (and still love) this song so much! ❤ So emotional
Nostalgia 🖤
Wow. Thx Beth, this gave me chills and I love Amy Lee, but both even sound more awesome. Keep going
Every guy and girl i knew at the time of this songs' release had a MAJOR crush on Amy Lee 😂
Love this song
Saw them both 2004 tour Maryland. Was fun!
Wow me gustó el vídeo los cantantes espectaculares y muy hermosa la coach y su reacción de diez bien 👏👏🍀🍀
Amy Lee is my #1 favorite Rock vocalist.
This was such a sad, haunting song. It immediately reminded me of Kurt Cobain. So sad.
Someone once ruined my life by pointing out that the lead singer in Seether's 'Broken' featuring Amy Lee enunciates his vowels like Cher, and now I can’t unhear it. Thanks for that, random stranger-I’ll never watch this video the same way again!
I can feel something inside me say
I really don't think you're strong enough.
I had someone ruin my life by telling me Chris Cornell sounds like an awesome Sammy Hagar. He does.
She pushes her notes the way I’ve never heard.
Eu amo essa música, Amy Lee é espetacular ❤
This song was also in the 2nd MARVEL, PUNISHER movie with Thomas Jane and John Travolta
I love this song!
What amazing song love the reaction to it. just a suggestion shinedown 45 is great song 🤘
Beautiful 🔥
Beautiful
Como reagimos aqui no Brasil... *"QUE PEDRADA"!!*
Hmm, I remember the song being on The Punisher Soundtrack 2004, not Daredevil.
2:56- Shawn is South African. Not sure what curveballs that accent may throw into the analysis.

React to Liniker, please 🥺 She is an amazing Brazilian artist!
Never reacted living colour songs? 😮
Plz think about it, they are great, recommend Open Lettler to a landlord
I love this song, but for me the version on the album "One Cold Night" is the real deal.
this song was on the Punisher soundtrack not Daredevil
Call me when you're Sober is a great Amy Lee/ Evanescence song, great video too, she sits in the middle of a pack of Wolves
The song was written About Shaun
@ettiennemalan8487 I wouldn't doubt it, so was "CALL ME WHEN YOU'RE SOBER"
Ohhh my 15!!!😢
Still on e of the best songs, I think this was a songe from the movie "Punisher".
I'd love for you to do even more of a dive into Shaun's vocals in some other songs.
Please savatage - when the crowds are gone
you should react "chakrulo" georgian song which was send in space with other songs,it's very old and unique song
I recommend that you make a reaction and an analysis to the voice of a girl whose name is ñusta picuasi, her channel is called ñusta picuasi
Look up a band called Ra.. Sahaj Ticotin is a boss..
Can you listen to Noeline Hoffman’s “August”?! I think you love it
Please listen to desert Rose by Diana Ankudinova or Quiet outpost
Please, could you react to Travessia, a song from Milton Nascimento?
Please react to Gabriels - One and Only

Note: Nobody Wants to Be Lonely by Ricky Martin and Chistina Aguilera.
The version from their One Cold Night live album is better. Amy Lee isn’t there to ruin it.
Too much talking from you and you ruind the whole video. We wanna hear your opprion… not a lesson on vocals!!
