There is always the inevitable jaw-drop to the floor upon initial contact with the Locust live.Ours came when we saw them at a small all ages café in Stockholm expecting an emo band or something of that nature.
Fucking awesome.. Imagine seeing this back in the day before social media and everything technology took over.. any band playing and starting live at a record store is real reason to love and enjoy music for what it is and brings.
i think this might be from '96 instead of '95!! if you look very closely in the background around roughly 1:20, there's a promo poster for Repetition by Unwound (which was recorded/released in 1996)
The Locust are the only band ever that has 3 vocalists without any one of them ever being like the 'lead' singer. Closest thing was Joey having the most dominant vocal part on Safety Second, Body Last.
Wow cool. I didn't think you guys were old enough to be playing in the 90's. I love it. Just subscribed. I love Retox, so I get time to explore from time to time.
longestleg dude the locust, holy molar, all leather (later on) and then of course retox, but they’re even connected to the blood brothers, billy was a part of holy molar

Locust before “The”. The best era of this band. I wish the tracks from the splits with Man Is The Bastard and Jenny Piccolo were included on their discography CD.
Impressive how authentic and well done this music is. For 1995 it's ground breaking so long before people catch on, like raw punkish sound of Iggy and the Stooges before people even had "punk in their frame of mind".

I love this so much. Watched it about 10 times in the past year, shown it to some close friends. So much unparalleled talent in a single 10 minute set. I wonder what Gabe Serbian was up to back in these days.
Then Jimmy LaValle banded up Tristeza, I remember one time they came to play to Mexico City and I told him if he could show me his lip tat and he did, very nice guy. Also, I remember The Locust playing here too; they got very late to the show and didn't have time to make soundcheck or rehearse, but hell like they need it... they just got upstage, made some quick adjusts and knob turns and 3, 2, 1... bammm!! They fucked up us all that night, it was a really good show because also one of my fav Mexican bands, Conspiración Alfa 5, played for the last time that night; you can look for them here at the youtube universe, you won't be disappointed.
Man dude. This video is so sick. It's so cool to see this kind of music happening all the way back then. At that age, their screams were PRIME. I fuckin love the blood curtailing screams. So raw. Coffin nails too! That was a sick song to see played live. I really appreciate you uploading these old videos, people like me and others really get true enjoyment out of watching old footage of their favorite bands. ANY information you can give me on the status of The Locust for 2012? I never got a ch
besides a few mp3 files sent to me on AIM around 98', this was my first experience of the energy THE LOCUST unleashes, back when youtube first became a thing 👏🤔😃
I also remember, at that time, as an aspiring musician, being ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY by their ability to play rhythmically complex mayhem that feels like nonsense, but is heavily orchestrated... GENIUS!
Oh man, I have such nostalgia for the spock-rock thing. I was just young enough when kids got into it that I didn't get it made no sense, but seemed so sick to my 12 year old brain. Tight pants, good skater, loud AF that I liked, but didn't know why...still don't. Jp's rad.
good call on that book, man. i remember a friend of mine having it, and flipping through it one night..only because i had no idea JP even wrote a book in the first place.
The Locust for a time had the same purity of what The Ramones had. They did variations on the same crazy shit over and over, and each song pulled you further into their world where this music was not just interesting, it was great music. the Locust, the only band i feel comfortable listening to in public.

It feels like the band members are arguing with each other.
It seems to me like they're in a fight with their instruments. I don't know who's winning, though.

this band rules so hard. always has. always will. period.
I love how high the keyboardists mic stand is 🤣

Really cool knowing the keyboardist is the main dude from The Album Leaf.
Polar opposites, but both incredible.
totally agree. and he also was in Tristeza
