Don't know if this answers your question but I had an 06 Impreza interior is similar to your 2nd gen WRX. I sold it and bought an 8th Gen SI FA5. Much bigger interior, more room in rear seats, driver's seat is SO much better than my subi. Subi seats felt like they were designed for someone 5'2 and I'm 6'1. I imagine the 9th gen interior is even better.
I got a 9th gen, im 6’1-2 250lbs, front seats are comfortable ofc but i find myself bending my neck down when im in my backseat, mind u i sat in yhe back for the first time ever like 2 days ago, it was ass 😂 but not many ppl are 6’1 or taller lol. My boy has an 8th gen coupe, honestly i had a better time sitting at the back on the 8th gen cuz the seats seemed a lil more lowkey and lower so i could seat no issues. Front seats are fine, back seats are eh but u driving ur car so u good lol
Civic si’s are roughly the same space in the front as a wrx but are comfier in my experience. GTI is the best imo for bigger or taller people, I’m 6’3 and fit comfortably in the front or back seats
