Hello Friends! Air your grievances on Friday Night ... I'm not gonna respond to everybody lol ... let's discuss on Friday night, it's live, come on air with your face or use your words in the chat ... bring your best!! LET'S GO!!
It would not surprise me if whoever pulls the gold outburst brings a lawsuit against Dave and Adams. The end result being more regulation and laws for any bounties going forward.
I would suppose a large fraction of people who are upset have boxes put away and are worried about the value of the boxes and their investment in those boxes now that bedard isnt playing well and there isnt the bounty. If Dave & Adams kept the bounty and card continued to not be pulled then I would assume those boxes would continue to hold a lot of value based on that bounty. (Just my initial thoughts I don’t have any boxes put aside myself)
Great episode again guys. Resonated with me being in the golf industry and hearing your story about the Evans scholarship fund. For golf at least, the Pros back in the day were seen as hustlers and not playing the game for the purity of it, not to be played for money, or gamblihg of any sort. The amateurs were in more esteem since they were generally the more educated and golf was not a way to make a living back then unless you hustled the members and played for the small purses available. It was almost a disrespectful thing to turn Pro and give up the traditional, "educational" way of making money. When purses became larger it became more acceptable to make playing golf for a living more respectable, and more Amateurs pursued the game for a living and turned Pro. I would assume the same reasoning in hockey.
The 2005 Rookie Class cards came from a box set. It had 50 cards in it, all rookies from that historic class. Card number 1 was Sid, card number 2 was Ovi. Up to number 50 of course. I have a sealed box! The cards within, come celephane rapped like a baseball banger pack/box would be. Awesome product!
I seriously believe there is heavy collusion in the sports card industry to artificially inflate product prices with all these bounties nowadays. And at this point it's almost obvious that the Bedard Gold Outburst was held back to keep UDS2 prices high. Corporate greed and price gouging have absolutely no bounds anymore.
I will be gutted if the card companies are involved with these bounties. I’m not sure I understand why @theloudcollector doesn’t see this as a problem, if true. This isn’t supply and demand, it’s artificially creating a cost to make more profit off the backs of collectors. LCS’s get stuck with allocation and collectors pay more than they should. If D&A is fronting the bounty themselves I have no problem with them pulling it.
@@cbellz994ever When I said "I don't care where the money comes from" ... fully based on the assumption, and trust, that the bounty is not from UD. I feel if your (not necessarily you) mind goes to collusion immediately, this hobby will drive you mad. There can be shady intentions and bad actors in every category of commerce. Call me naive, sure ... but i can't live my life constantly thinking somebody is out to get me with "maybes" and "gotcha" moments. If it came out the bounty was fixed or not authentic ... then 100 percent man, I'm with everybody and my arms are up in anger. But to come to these conclusions without one ounce of evidence is a very dangerous game to play. I come to this hobby to forget about the bad in the world. Not to find more ... I am upset at the pricing as well man, bigtime. I buy a case every year, except last year so total bummer. I spent my hobby time doing other things, where i don't get upset. Our culture right now is a very "gotcha" thing ... I'm not too keen to take part in it unless things have been proven. Hope that makes sense man and thankful we can all discuss!
lol Sonic fans catching strays, don't understand how someone like Phil who is a self-admitted nerd thinks it's childish or girly or whatever to watch a cartoon? lol Love Frankiefives at the expo. Great booth.
My Little Pony just blurted out. Wasn’t implying sonic is girly lol I have no idea why those words came out of my mouth. I am a massive nerd yes but I will always give my buddies the gears if an opportunity arises … whether it makes sense or not lol. I definitely have girly tendencies … as follows … JEM, She-Ra, Milley Cyrus, Legends of the Fall, Mean Girls, Sex and the City
@ohil...what if you bought $100 000 worth of boxes from D and A ultimately relying on the 'bounty' to their (the buyer s) detriment? i think josh s point(s) are very pertinent. ol D and A better hope most ppl are like phil and i (and will shrug it off) and not like many who look for promissory estoppel around every corner...
I wouldn't of bought 100k of product based on a bounty, from a business, that I had no connection to. I'd be furious and full of rage. I hope the person who spent 100k learned their lesson in business lol. Sports cards are the WORST asset class I have ever seen. This constant fight and urge to make money in this hobby is getting quite hilarious to me lol. Maybe folks are finally realizing it's not financially smart to buy boxes of hockey cards and expect to make money ... maybe I'm alone on that one but people are starting to figure it out maybe.
@@theloudcollector I agree 100%. If you bought tons of product on the still extremely unlikely chance of hitting a 1/1 I have only the slightest sympathy for you. Cards are for collecting, hopefully this will help people remember that.
Agree Phil. Would be a lesson learned for sure if you dumped 100k on boxes “hoping” to hit something hoping for a bounty or whatever!!!! D&A unless there was some legal paperwork somewhere should be able to pull it at any time they desired.
While I agree with this sentiment, distribution who controls the entire market should not be allowed to raise prices exponentially due to lack of competition and artificially inflated value ( IE bounty cards) . I know a lot of the “smart collectors” avoided 23-24 all together, but what if you had a kid who wanted to jump into the hobby and hunt bedard like all his other friends. It may be a one off case, but it’s still real. You have breakers that have been featured on this channel during breaks say, “bedard spots could be a good investment” in order to sell product. A lot of people not just breakers, DA, and distributors made money last year. For better or worse, the hobby is not what it used to be when I was first collecting cards with my dad and brother back in 94.
If i pulled it and got offered 50k, I'd be happier than pig in mud. A million is ridiculous, lol. But I've only sunk under a grand into series 2 and made it all back.
The BEDARD BOUNTY DEAD = FRAUD ... someone should be held accountable for these actions. Just because buddy hasnt panned out as a superstar, hype was crazy...
I wouldn't be surprised if the person that pulls it tries to sue Dave & Adam's. It's definitely a huge reason why people decided to gamble by buying a crap load of series 2
Definitely a legal basis. D & A isn’t an “unconnected third party” - they have a (preferred) commercial relationship with upper deck and are required by law to properly disclose the terms of their sweepstakes. They are vulnerable to a class action from anyone who bought bountied products from them and didn’t win, to say nothing of winners who don’t get paid.
Pretty sure we did mention the bounty, but Billy is a product manager. The merits or ethics of bounty programs are good questions, but way above his pay grade. We wouldn't put him in that position. It's a better question for executives at the company and we hope to have the opportunity to talk with Jason or another UD big wig about this issue and hope to have that opportunity soon. Appreciate your comment.
Every time you have Billy on he reveals he has designed this seasons WORST hockey card. The chip thing is absolutely insane. Upperdeck needs to do better.
people just have to stop buying that over priced over produced crap. UD tried to get greedy and now it's biting them. Triple the price for series 2 and spa? fuck outta here
@ the odds are in my favour… why is everyone convinced he’s a superstar. The bounty is dead because they don’t want to pay $1M for a card that will end up worth thousands…

"Matt beniers boxed set" you had me for a sec 😂😂😂 speaking players not living up to potential atm
lol
Keep up the good works guys! I learn something new about the hobby every episode.
Appreciate that! Glad you are enjoying!
How many different 1 of 1 Bedards is out there 👽 over 1500 different rookie cards
There's got to be 75-100 or more.
Wax era all over again
Blue horseshoe loves Saturday Night Gold! Pass it on. Great show boyz! Cheers.
Dave and adams are notorious for sketchy shit

Totally get your point. Eventually the boxes would go down in value if the card was pulled and bounty was paid as well...right?

Awesome info...thank you!
Where do you live? Address?
Crazy both Cooley and fantilli 1/1 from extended been pulled on epacks.. I guess that’s why the extended prices dropped so much last few weeks
The bounty was a pump and dump.
Sports card madness exposed face and Adams bounty scan just a couple days ago ... I'm sure that's why they quietly removed the bedard bounty....
oh no way ... shots fired eh lol ... gonna find the video man, thank you!! Will check it out!!

Now with that done will those hobby boxes drop to 150 so people can open the box for Bedard YG.
That would be nice!
What’s the difference between someone hitting the gold Bedard or Dave and Adam’s pulling the bounty? Either way there would be a ton of wax leftover
This podcast is a geographic oddity. It's 3 years away from Fleer Ultra in all directions!
Good point lol
Ppl are just mad about the bounty being pulled because they don't know where the card is and don't know the explanation of why they pulled the bounty
