    I'm a mechanical engineer. I have owned this controller for at least 6 years and have been confused since I bought it. I finally understand that the start times are not zones. Orbit could have done a MUCH better job of designing this interface.

      I’m with you Kevin. I’ve installed two very elaborate sprinkler systems. No problem. This timer is minimally complex. But does not operate logically. These videos have not been helpful.

    Dude you saved me HOURS and many trips to/ from Home Depot !
    My timer kept repeating over and over again until I watched your video.
    Stations and Zones are what I was confused by.
    Your explanation of setting the START TIME(s) and then switching to the stations for setting the time solved my problem.
    I was setting 4 different times for all my zones and the timer was doing just that "repeating" 4 times of the day instead of ONCE a day doing each Zone once.
    Million THANKS !

    I could be mistaken, but it looks like after you set the start time for 5:00am, it switches to the number 2. Which is zone is isn't it? So the 5:40am time is set for zone 2. Is this correct? Or am i looking at it wrong. Because I tried the multiple start times for zone 1, but it didnt seem to work.

    My back yard has many working sprinklers, but one of them got damaged and when I checked it, it was not rotating. It sent a regular jet of water through one of my rear windows for the full 22 minutes it was set for. I wanted to STOP THAT ONE SPRINKLER until I had time to replace it. Its run time would need to be zero minutes. But I discovered that the timer can be set to any number up to (I think it was) 240 minutes. But it cannot be set to zero (0) minutes. I could not stop that single sprinkler from spraying my house every day at the same time. Of course I could turn the Controller to OFF for all sprinklers, but in this weather I didn't want to.

    Your replies to the comments have been very helpful to me. I guess many were confused thinking that each zone (as opposed to program) could have a separate start time. We have gone to water restrictions here. We can only water on 3 different days in a week and only between 9pm--11:59pm, and 12am -- 7am. I have 6 zones total and I'm using 2 programs. Due to the (water) off days gaps, it's best to water each zone twice. Once in the morning and once at might. That way there is only one 48 hour segment without watering.

    My landscaper set 4 different times for my 4 stations. He explained to me that those are the different times each station will come on. After watching your video, I’m thinking he may be mistaken now. I’ve learned you basically just need one time for all stations, unless I want each station to come on multiple times of the day. I don’t want that. He set it to M,W,F with an “interval” of “1 every day.” Please tell me what that interval means?

    Confusing. As soon as you pressed enter for 5am it went from Station 1 to station 2 which made everything else you said about watering station 1 twice for ten minutes each kind of useless. I followed the directions in the manual to water starting at 3am and came out this morning at 9am to station 1 just completing. Then it started on 2. Not even close to the times I programmed. Also, it appears you can only program 4 stations on a 6 station timer.

    • @orbitsprinklers

      We would recommend following whatever the hydroseed instructions say. That example we use in the video is just an arbitrary example. The frequency you'd need to water with new seed varies based on the type of seed, location (heat, sun exposure, soil type, rainfall). There are a lot of factors that go into it.

    • @orbitsprinklers
      @orbitsprinklers  4 года назад +2

      No, the start time is for the program will run through all zones that have run times on that program. multiple start times will run through all the zones multiple times.
      so in your example you would use multiple start times (three of them) and then set the run time for each zone to be 10 minutes. each start time will run through all seven zones sequentially, each for 10 minutes and then repeat (three times).

    I got a problem with my orbit system model 27896,; I set it up to start station 1 on 9:00 pm station 2 on 9:05, station 3 on 9:10, station 4 on 9:15, station 5 on 9:20, everything works just find except it repeats it again and goes back to station 1 and so on. I have to clear it otherwise it gets working double, and i notice also when the system is not operating at 9:00 the screen is blinking showing the future reference that will start 9:00 all day long. Do you think something is wrong with the timer ? ; it is still under warranty for 3 more year.

    • @orbitsprinklers
      @orbitsprinklers  5 лет назад

      Hello, this is because you are setting multiple start times. Please note on this time you are not setting zones start times but the start time for the entire program. This will then run all zones with any run time in sequence. By setting these multiple start times you are telling the timer to run the whole sequence over and over. If you only want each zone to run once, please set only one start time.

    That thing was developed by a drunken lobster. A logical mind would allow programming every one of the 6 stations separately with its own start time, duration and frequency. But no, four start times for 6 stations is what they think you need, and start times meaning restart time of the whole program. Never will I buy something from that brand again as I lost my mind trying to program a separate time for a misting area for my chicken suffering from the heat past 3 pm. Who ever developed this product should get another job, something not too neurons challenging preferably

    So it is correct that you cannot have an entirely unique start time for each station - start times are restricted to programs, and stations run based off the programs. I'm using a 12 station programmer and my boss insists that each station can have an entirely unique start time independent of the other 11 stations, and I'm trying to tell him that you can only have unique run times per station, but start time and how often are based on the 3 available programs. Is this correct?

      The person responding to your video is correct..it says start time but the number underneath does refer to station even though it does not state it...on my four station unit the numbers have four possibilities one for each station... According to you when it says 1 you are assuming it refers the 1st time setting but in reality it will turn station #1 on...when it says 2, station #2 comes on...what would happen the way you showed it in the video station #2 will water...if you change it back to #1 when putting in the second time setting it overwrites the first time setting on the #1 station therefore replacing it and therefore you only have one setting at station #1...

      It is very likely you are setting multiple start times. Please note that every start time will run through ALL zones for their set amount of time.
