@@portoricopotato5401 You still need the PC, since that's where the game is running on. You can use a laptop too if it has the specs to run the games yes!
Thanks for doing this test. Looks pretty good, IMO. So is your wired connection from your router to your PC only a 100Mb connection? If so, that's going to severely limit the performance compared to a gigabit connection. The speed out to the internet is irrelevant for this use case, it's all down to the quality of the router, and how it handles the traffic between your hard wired PC and the 5GHz WiFi on the Pico Neo 2.
Booster McBlast I don’t think the 6a cable will make a difference, the wireless connection to the WiFi router is more important, sounds like they did not have a good connection. Also pico Neo 2 only has 802.11ac, not the new WiFi 6, which is a bummer. The 4K video needs a lot of bandwidth so the I thinking that they have steamVR only sending 1080p video upscaled to 4K on the hmd. I wonder if the newly added usb 3 wired streaming can even do 4K
Thanks! It's great news for future headsets. Since someone finally managed to make good-enough magnetic tracking, it might be an important building block for getting sub-200$ standalone generic VR headset in a few years that can go mainstream. Since it's good enough for light Beat Saber, it might be good enough for Facebook Horizon. Ideally we would have hand tracking with haptic feedback and virtual buttons, but magnetic tracking + controllers seems more likely to succeed for now. That's the first time that I was cited in a video, for some reason I feel kinda proud :D
So the headset wireless uses 5ghz 2x2 tech. Meaning it can establish two wifi connections for the headset, doubling the bandwidth. Don't know much about the tech myself. Did you check if you need a special router to make use of it or if your test was only running on one signal?
Thanks for this video, chary! I'm using a Quest with virtual desktop and wireless 5Ghz streaming. Router is in the same room. Very interested in the Pico neo 2 just for Steam VR streaming. Did you also try a cable connection?
Yep. As expected, the tracking is significantly more jittery. This is because optical systems are better at correcting for noisy IMUs than equally noisy electromagnetic systems. It's almost like trying to correct for a broken compass by having more than one broken compass. Great video though. I'm glad we're all finding this out early on.
even with the wired connection you wont really get 4k streaming maybe in a future update.. you do have to check the settings on the PC app they are in chinese but you can translate them with google there you can change the streaming resolution etc
Thankyou for the review, I have recently managed to get hold of the Neo 2. i decided to sell my quest 2 after the facebook takeover. i know it is a downgrade and i accept it. my question is do you know of any Pico communities? i have lots of questions and no-one to ask :(
Technologically it's a better headset, it's software really needs to catch up. Is it worth the price premium over the Quest? Probably not. Its tracking system is far better than the complexity of running lighthouses and does it better than the quest too it seems. I'd much rather have this headset though compared to say the Vive Cosmos.
So I was wondering about the Pico Neo 2 eye Would it compare to the reverb G2, because it has a lot of nice features like 4k, eye tracking, controllers are tracked using magnetic field And wireless ofcourse so potentially I'd say a competitor
Thank you very much for this review! Serious question: is there a way to see your PC desktop 2d screen floating in front of you like in Virtual Desktop? How does it feel? Is it limited by wireless streaming performance and is there a way to do it wired for full performance?
Can you maybe try out the streaming latency while connected with GB Lan? I am very interested in the headset, honestly only for shooter live Pavlov. And in Multiplayer shooter every ms latency counts, so if it is worse than quest with VD I would regret the purchase 😱
i dont think it can replace the quest at all the quest was focused on all in one gaming but the pico dosent seem to have any big games and is focused on wireless pc gaming
The ziggo box 5ghz connection is really bad I have a separate gaming router with wifi 6ax connected to the ziggo box and it works on a amazing 20ms latency
The pico Neo 2 now has a usb 3 streaming option to connect the hmd to the PC. Can you guys try that out. Would love to know what the video quality is compared to quest link
And you forgot to mention that the Neo costs a lot more than the Quest. I see no reason why anyone would buy the Neo over the quest simply for the higher resolution. Its just not worth it. Especially when Oculus will soon be bringing out the Quest 2 which will not only be better than the Neo on price. But it will also be better in specs and even more content.
Agree or disagree? Let us know!
It supports us if you watch the entire video, but for those in lack of time, the timestamps are in the description! ♥

The tracking seems impressive. Gonna recommend this video to the makers of the Vive Cosmos!

Yes, Chary! Please go out and buy a better ethernet cable to you router for 10 bucks and repeat the review please. ;-)

I hope the next Quest will have this tracking.
RIGHT, ELECTROMAGNETIC TRACKING IS THE FUTURE
@@IHaveBadWiFiBro that will make the controller need more batteries and make the controller heat up
Your internet isn't related to the streaming btw. It just needs your router and all that
The Pico is not the right vr headset for me, but watching your high quality videos is always a pleasure 😊🙏❤️
The tracking looks like it could lead to an index that doesn't need lighthouses.
Yep, I’m just really interested in the tracking

Me watching this, nodding in agreement, not actually capable of affording and getting a VR headset of my own. POOR GANG! AOOH!

Hey Cas. I heard that the pico neo 2 had wired steam vr streaming as well is this better than using oculus link with the quest?
I want to know this too. But I don’t think even usb 3 can Handle the 4K bandwidth
This is awesome cas, thanks.

oh damn so the jittering was not her it was from the interference in the controller signals?
Cant wait for inside-out electromagnetic full body tracking

I’m pretty much anyone would want any headset other than the cosmos
2:03 gottal love that the software allows you to set "Controler Mode". Did pimax help them with their software?
Does it run better without streaming? It looks great but does it handle online multiplayer games well? So far it looks great based off BeatSaber

An insane idea, but did you try using some usb to ethernet adapter connected to the Pico Neo? Maybe with that the latency and artifacts be fixed...

Have you heard about the Pima artisan?
the controller tracking looks really shaky. is that your hands or the tracking?
What was the very last beat saber song you played?
Good video, kisses from Spain!
Can you please make a video about video quality and sde comparing with oculus quest.please
I was wondering if the eye tracking can improve streaming.
as far as I now, the Eye Tracking works only on pico apps and for developers. there is noch eye based rendering while streaming steam vr right now
And what about controller rumbles? For example, in Synth Riders game on Quest controller rumbles do not work 100% OK... (in virtual desktop)
The ziggo box 5ghz connection is really bad I have a separate gaming router with wifi 6ax connected to the ziggo box and it works on a amazing 20ms latency
Hey can u do a video about how to play oculus quest (link) and if acer nitro 5 works (please help cause im not sure if its vr ready)
The gun and the bow looked so shaky... one reason I don't like the inside out tracking and think the lighthouse tracking is superior for this reason.
How much is this and is it comfortable or nah
I've seen Caleb run around outside with one of the Pico Neo preceder? Do you have permission to try it outside?
The pico Neo 2 now has a usb 3 streaming option to connect the hmd to the PC. Can you guys try that out. Would love to know what the video quality is compared to quest link
Can you use valve index controller to vive cosmos
I expect Quest 2 to be like this, but better.
Why no Xeon?? I have a Xeon!!
I understimated magnetic controllers, the fact it ran so on STREAMING, woah!
The old Razer Hydra has a justifiably good reputation, yet everyone still seems surprised that the tech is good.
I'll watch the next video for this device when it's AMD compatible
Why the controller waver
How is wired Steam VR tracking?
amazing on pico neo2
Can i play job simulator on it?, please try it for me🙏🏻
Can you play pc vr with pick neo 2 wired?
yes you can!
what game is being played at 7:45?
Looks like Contractors
2.4 ghz wifi and AMD card. Dang. Well, I'll hang in some more waiting for my index order to fulfill ^^
So oculus and steam could be wireless without VD on quest but...

I will buy oculus quest if it have better specs than this and release in january
'forgot' my arse. She did mention it, both here and in the previous video which actually looked at the hardware rather than this specific feature.
this pico neo 2 dosen't have enough features to make it a better option next to the oculus quest
Doesn't have enough content, does have more features for me though.
