@@zdhome5727 My friend from China literally had to keep quiet about a lot of things there that he can freely talk about here in the U.S. I've seen the laws regarding what is not allowed to be shown in film and TV alone to know that some pretty shady issues exist. Organized religion, political groups, and other free-speech groups, are out-right banned. (China literally banned Animal Crossing for the fact that people could customize their islands or include HK flag, etc., even though only friends can even visit the islands.) As much problems I have with our own government and culture (especially nowadays), I don't think China's government can deny a lot of the allegations thrown at it either. There's a pretty telling Chinese made film (that the government obviously didn't like) called "Life," directly addressing the issues with the ideals and realities of a communist/socialist-based government. Chinese people I've met, on the other hand, are very nice people. A friend of mine who was an exchange student here when we were in high school told me how it's pretty easy to get around some of the internet censoring there, but the fact that it's there should tell you a few things.
Hi from China, so yeah, actually I can buy it, shame I just already bought the Quest2. Was wondering about the storage and just checked the base model is 128GB. This would maybe explain the Quest2 suddenly upgrading. The price for the Pico Neo3 and the Quest2 are more or less the same here in China. Yes Quest2's are still being sold here on the grey market, imported and pre-activated. Foreigners can get out via VPN and activate using their own Facebook accounts if they wish. The Quest2 is still doing quite well here, but I for one did not know the Pico existed (you tend assume that any non-brand VR is gonna be garbage), so thanks for the heads up. :-) Keep up the good work, awesome channel.
It's also good that the Pico exists for those that don't want to deal with a VPN. Because you'd have to use said VPN to download games for it, too. I don't know if VPNs there charge by the megabyte like many of ours in the States do. But if so, that'd get pretty pricey.
tehy really arent competition though. facebook cant sell in china and pico cant sell outside of china. so they arent competing at all. we need valve to bring out a stand alone headset.
Even though the Quest 2 isn't sold officially in China. A lot more Chinese I know in VRChat still bought the Quest 2 as opposed to the Pico Neo 3. Not that nobody uses the Pico Neo 3, a lot of people do buy it over there. It's just that the Quest 2 seems to be selling better in China than the Pico Neo 3.
Although I have no data, I don't think Pico Neo 3 loses to Quest 2 in China. There are a lot of casual users that would never consider Quest 2, and I have a feeling that those users outnumbers the amount of serious users. The only reason why more serious people seems to have Quest 2 is likely due to it being released months earlier. Neo 3 only got its debut during the 618 sale and it hasn't even been 2 months yet.
Thanks for your insight. I managed to get my hands on one. I do business with China and the company I work with sent me one as a gift. Still trying to work out a few bugs with it, but LOVE it! I wish it worked better with a few games I play on Steam VR but I am sure they will optimize it moving forward. Great channel! Subbed ;-)
I do love the quest but the supply of titles is starting to really dry up. Seems that still no major studios are developing for it. I love the indie titles but VR is going to need big games.
Pico Neo 3 is a MORE EXPENSIVE copy of the Quest2. The difference is the Pico gives you the upgraded strap, extra buttons and unnecessary fans(I workout on my Quest and never have foggy lens nor do I desire a ventilation system on my headset). What planet am I on that everyone wants to jailbreak the Pico? If you like VR that much you should put your money with the innovators who invested time and money in research and development to create VR in the first place. Not the ones who specialize in reverse engineering and mass manufacturing copies.

Sorry to hear about your friends passing, i was whatchung the stream yesterday
This is a dark age for VR, every potential competitor to Oculus (vive, pico and etc) are all going towards releasinig their good headsets to businesses, vive has so far been the biggest dissapointment
vive pro 2 is a consumer headset, it's a new release and has great specs, why the hate?
@@diebygaming8015 is it for consumers if the price is 800+ dollars, still using the old vive wands that seems jankey now, and not even a great microphone? Who would buy that other than enthusiasts. And I know enthusiasts would buy it, they'll keep VR alive and those fumbling companies that don't even know their customers. But VR is going to die if there isn't enough support other than Oculus who are pulling out from developing games for pcvr. The only headset I can see that will make a great impact is the psvr2.
@@rm.mediaproductions no, on the contrary! I think oculus is bringing vr to many people who wouldn’t have previously been able to afford a headset. Although a competitor would be great (valve standalone anyone?) I do think vr is going many new places with the quest 2. Also, it’s spelled enthusiast, not enthusiest.
@@RidgeVR It's bringing people VR but the standalone version of it. Pcvr is a different beast, the only way to bring the pcvr experience is to either stream it or make a VR headset with pretty good horsepower. It's a good thing that many are going into VR with a good affordable price, but the playerbase is still very small for pcvr and there's hardly any good games in the forseeable future for PC players, the only one that I was waiting for was Sniper Elite, yet it fails again to be a true quaility VR title. It's like they saw half life alyx and think all they have to add is smooth locomotion, and floating hands.
@@RidgeVR The arguement is that there isn't a good affordable headset competitor to Oculus. We have valve which made the index but it's a 1000 bucks. We have vive who hasn't made a good VR headset other than their first one. We got the HP reverb, but it costs the same as the index almost and the controllers are super outdated with the old windows mixed reality LED's on the controller :/. So far there hasn't been a good headset for pcvr other than the oculus quest 2, quest 1 or rift s. I have to say screw you to VIVE, since honestly they have a horrible marketing team, they hyped up a rumored headset and BAM we got a facial tracker as a reveal (which i haven't seen anybody using it other than a few few few people in VR chat), then their standalone headset came along which costs a leg and a kidney to buy and is aimed for business only (The way they pitched it seemed like the headset is boring, business meetings, powerpoints, graphs....god damn it, not even half as fun as job simulator) . Then we get the vive pro 2 which is a sorry excuse with half of the effort to say "yeah we still make headsets for gamers too".

Woah, you have my pfp, never thought I'd see that
You haven't seen re-calls because the Chinese have no consumer rights. Even if there were complaints, you wouldn't hear them outside the mainland.
Do any amount research at all, please. They have rights. They get broken sometimes, just like here.
We "Don't hear" anything because the US Government will spin ANY story to keep us afraid of China. Why would china ever let our media know about anything? I wouldn't.
@@zdhome5727 Both will spin it.
@@zdhome5727 You are all over the comment section jesus. Get a grip. People have a bad opinion on china because china objectively has a TRASH government and TRASH laws and TRASH human rights. No amount of whining in the replies will change this.
@@superdiego.g Yes, voicing concerns does matter. In everything.
I will keep fighting this brain-washing of the US. If you feel you are educated enough to make a difference, then I hope you fight for whatever side you are on.
@@DFX2KX VPNs are also illegal there too

More competition is better! This is great👍
tehy really arent competition though. facebook cant sell in china and pico cant sell outside of china. so they arent competing at all.
we need valve to bring out a stand alone headset.
I am excited for more brands to get into the hybrid market. Facebook turns a lot of people off but hybrid headsets are good for the industry
I love how your beat saber colors match your logo 💕
Thanks for your insight. I managed to get my hands on one. I do business with China and the company I work with sent me one as a gift. Still trying to work out a few bugs with it, but LOVE it!
Fun fact: the oculus quest is made in China, but isnt allowed in a big part of China.
LOL 🤣
Confused confusing confusion
The same as airsoft guns.
@@ZedDevStuff its not that confusing, china is where all the manufacturing has gone too because of cheap labor. but china doesnt allow products in their country unless the government has control over them.
@@ge2719 not strictly true. The government dislikes any platform that allows people to voice dissent or post content it deems damaging to Chinese society. Even though the Quest 2, doesn't meet that criteria, its just its parent company Facebook does. China has no problem with Apple or Tesla for example, because there is no way on those platforms to post objectionable content to the masses. In fact the Quest 2 could probably be officially licensed for sale, if they just removed the need for Facebook connection and account.
Is the reason why this is not available in the west the copyright issues? I suspect that if it was released they would be hit with court cases from FB/Vive very quickly.
yeah I was really surprised that he never brought that up? there's a reason no western company is selling a competing quest 2 clone. And why Valve will have to differentiate their eventual quest competitor.
Does it come in communist red? Or maybe a darker shade for the blood of the Uyghur Muslims in the concentration camps?

You'd rather your personal info and tracking data be sent to the Chinese Communist Party to form a profile on Americans? You realize the Chinese government can just take data from companies whenever they want?
@@rcbif101 Chinese software can usually be jailbroken and bypassed pretty easily, it's facebook that really goes out of their way to lock everything down.

Privacy-wise it doesn't actually have to be a problem, as long as the device allows you to fully control it. If you want to use a Quest 2 without Facebook you can't do that, but if a Chinese device allows you to use it without an account and gives you root access, there's a noticeable improvement. Just look at the Steam Deck, you can do whatever you want with it because it isn't locked down.
The real problem is with everything else that comes from Chinese practices, which is definitely a mixed bag.
