after testing the Pico 4 for over two weeks now, I had a hard time trying to use my Quest 2 again… I‘m with you. There is not a strong need for Quest 2 users to change , especially when U have a large games library. But the Pico 4 is a perfect choice for people who entering VR right now.
I disagree! I have the quest 2 and used it for over a Yr. I've now got the Pico 4 and it's a huge upgrade. I've tried all sorts of headstraps including bobo vr and I'm forever adjusting the headset on my quest 2 and pico 4 just works. I've invested around £700 in total on the quest 2 and decided to sell it. I would highly recommend the pico 4 over quest 2. Its leaps and bounds ahead!!!
Just got my imported Pico 4 and honestly love it. I have my PC and Router running in the same room with 5g and have had a blast. You are right on the washout some of the racing games I play show it. Overall I am happy with it.
@@shinobusensui9395 I have been using the Stock streaming software with 5g wireless. I plan to try the VR desktop later today, I have read that the quality is better with the VR desktop over the native pico app. I have not used VR before this.

If it wasn't for the fact they ditched the display port connector of the pico neo 3 link, I'd be severely tempted. Having the option of uncompressed, tethered PCVR taken away is a bit of a deal breaker at this price.

i have both Quest 2 and Pico 4 as well as Pico 3 and i use them all depending on what i want to do. Unfortunately i would not recommend the Pico 4 to anyone at the moment, since Pico still has not fixed the barrel distortion transformation for a stable and correct image on the lenses. This causes jittery and warping images in both native and PCVR modes. Your eyes will get used to it after a while but the risk of getting motion sick and eye damage is much higher. Compared to the Quest 2, the Quest is much more stable in terms of visuals.
Upgraded from Q2 256 to P4 256 - HUGE difference. Pico 4 is so awesome! Lenses and image quality, also audio quality is better. PC connection just works via air wifi, quest 2 was black screen of death. And there was no fuss, just click pico connect app, sync and that's it, no dancing around, like with old quest 2 - nothing worked. Watching video is no comparison. Love PICO 4! RTX 3090, AMD 5900x, 32GB DDR 4000 cl 16. Oh, PICO 4 doesn't feel like a brick on your face too, play longer, enjoy comfort.
You also need to factor in the cost of a rigid "strap for the quest 2. When you factor that in I think the Pico 4 is a no brainer if you are getting your first headset. Especially if you already own a VR ready PC. Quest two with the price increase and no hard strap included in the box is not worth it imo when compard to the Pico 4. But I agree there isnt much pont getting the Pico 4 if you already own a quest two. But if you need a second headset or it's your first purchase, I would definitely get the Pico.
i own both quest 2 and pico 4. in terms software capabilities/technology/update i think quest 2 is legendary. blurriness/sharpness not that much difference. if you use wirelink.. quest 2 is still superior than pico 4. pico 4 link using the cable is still blurry. u need to use virtual desktop for pico 4... my gpu is rtx3090. for sim racing i still use my Quest 2. Fresh rame rate.. Quest 2 and pico 4 is not that much difference. Quest 2 is still legendary since the developers in meta still pushing it.
Sorry but I completely disagree. I own both too and Pico 4 using VD at gigabit speed looks much much better than Quest 2. I use it mainly for PCVR MFS2020 and the smoothness and visuals using Ultra or Godlike mode in VD are night and day, plus using things like the motion reprojection implemented in VD makes a world of difference. But it is not only that, the comfort on the Pico 4 are night and day compared with Quest 2. The weight distribution and the heat dissipation is much better in Pico 4
As much as I have mixed feelings about all things “Meta,” I have a Quest 2 headset and use it every day for workouts and active games. I’m unlikely to jump ship to Pico at this point. That said, I am fascinated by VR tech, and this channel is one of my go-to places to find out the latest developments. Thanks for everything you do!
Quest 2 games suck. They are OLD and expensive. The graphics are worse than their PCVR versions. Quest 2 can't play many OLD PCVR games like Asseto Corsa. In fact, Quest 2 can't play any serious PCVR games, unless you have a gaming PC. I have kind of abandoned my Quest 2. Now that I have a ps5, I will wait for PSVR 2. Quest 2 and even Quest 3 are bad options for VR gaming.
@@trumplostlol3007 I myself primarily use Quest 2 for fitness and active games like Beat Saber and Pistol Whip. Not outdated for me or the way I play in VR. To each their own.

Nor has AC tried to port to standalone...What you're basically saying is that there's no current standalone headset that can run PCVR equivelent titles natively. That's true for a fairly plain reason; The industry isn't there yet. It sounds like the Q2 and Q3 (which we don't know all that much about) might be bad options for you specifically. We might got stop-gap solutions like PCVR streaming soon, but the PSVR 2 will probably suit you more for the immediate future.
@@ehjhey7 Why put so much weight on your head when you can use a PSVR 2 headset with a ps5 that is much cheaper than PCVR and Quest pro? The gpu of Quest pro is inferior to that of PS4. You can NEVER play any VR games with good graphics. PSVR 2 will most likely have titles like GT7. Or you can play Dirty Rally using your PS5 with the old PSVR headset with much improved fps. PS5's AMD gpu is equivalent to a mid range gaming PC with a RTX 3060ti gpu. Quest pro is two generations behind in terms of computing power.
I'm enjoying the pay for games as tax free games for the Pico4 here in the US atm. 😁 Anyone else have the Pico4 here in the US? I like the location of the volume rocker on the Pico4 better than Meta/Quest2. The adjustable play space when sitting down is something I had been wanting for ages on Quest 2 & Pico4 had it out of the box. I'm also very satisfied with the battery being in the back & also wanted this since the Quest1 days. I do wish there was a pin code or fingerprint authentication when buying games on the VR assistant app. Overall? I'm pretty happy with it. 😊 Download speeds were pretty fast in Texas and import? My shipping was $40 thus making the price $469USD for the 256gb model with shipping included. I've been using the VR assistant app for almost 2 weeks now with no problem and games are priced in USD for me. This might be because of the Pico neo 3... Idk I'm happy with it & got it within a few days after launch without breaking the bank. The friend finder function isn't working for me... I wonder if I'm connected to server's in the US(if it has any)?
And yeah, buying the games tax-free games is nice! 😀 Also, I've been using Ali Express a lot for accessories. One 'con' I should point out is that the face gasket does start to hurt the forehead after about 40 mins of usage. I think replacing the padding should fix it. Have ordered a replacement kit on AliEx. There are also 3D print files for replacement gaskets on thingaverse -- ones that fit face shapes not so much like East Asians'.

I really appreciate this fair assessment. I am getting tired of the greedy paid reviews making the pico4 an absolute joy when at best they both have their pros and cons. They are two giant (and in my opinion just as equally shady) corporations doing the absolute same thing on different sides of the planet. Neither of them are going to save the world with this technology. Change, yes. But not save. Anywho… with all that being said. I have big dreams and as much as I like to play a game from time to time, I’d rather be working. Right now meta has what I need, and I’m not really complaining. I will be trying out the quest pro with a very open heart. Because at the end of the day, it’s all about how I feel about my choice and not how The reviewers say I should feel. Which is why I absolutely love this channel.
Great video thanks- I’ve purchased a Pico4 for £269 (incl 3 free games). Quest 2 is around £200 and Quest 3 around £479. I don’t own any games and am mainly interested in viewing footage from my 3d and 360vr cameras. Would you have a recommendation as to whether the Quest 3 is worth an additional £200 for my use case?
The PSVR 2 sounds good with the OLED and HDR but what can you do with it besides games? Can you use the new PSVR2 with SteamVR and use apps from that large library? With Sony I feel like I have to buy everything including media players or I could be wrong. Plus you have to buy a PS5 if you don't already have one. And you can't even get one at MSRP!!! What's the point? And it's wired as well. I could forgive all this if PS5 was available at normal prices and you were to do more than just buy expensive games.
Quest 2 VS Pico 4 in my opinion: Comfort is day and night different between Q2 and Pico 4, Much wider field of you for the Pico than the Quest, Essentially better controllers, however, Better amount of games for the Q2 than Pico (could change soon tho) More accessories for the Q2, considering the Pico 4's strap isn't removable. Overall in my opinion, if you want much better comfort out of the box, and you live in Europe or Asia, get the Pico 4 imo. If you live in the US or want to access a bigger library of games (If we don't say that you have a PC), then go with the Q2. Overall that just my opinions of course 😅, I got my Q2 a week ago and I'm not considering to upgrade anytime soon, I'm really enjoying it so far Thank you for the review either way 🙏
I still have a Rift S and I'm still very happy with it, yes even despite the cable! PCVR is where VR is at for me especially now that mods of existing AAA PC flatscreen games are becoming more commonplace. There just isn't the deep, sophisticated content for standalone due to hardware limitations and I feel that barrier will not be broken for years until the mobile chipset makes some BIG leaps forward. Great review and comparison thank you. I've used Quest 2 and I found it front heavy to wear after the really excellent comfort of the Rift S. Battery life also an issue for me who is not used to limits on my playing time. I will keep waiting for either Quest 3 or Valve Deckard before I upgrade - if I even upgrade at all. I'll be all retro VR with my RIft S I spose And i'll keep treading on my cable and yanking my head down, getting it twirled around my ankles. Such is life 😆
Oh dear. I've been thinking about getting the Pico 4 at the end of 2023 as my first VR but there's some important features it's missing, hopefully they can be added in as time goes by. aww, fitness stuff might bring me back to the Pico 4. I'm way too slothen and hope that VR will help me move around more, especially during our 5+ months of icey winter weather. Knowing how odd some of my body measurements are I suspect having a better adjustment for the lenses will be handy. Plus the 2 quality screens over the 1 screen sounds much better. Okay, I think Pico 4 will be my pick between these two. I didn't even think about watching movies and stuff with VR so that's just a bonus. Plus the extra ram could make ease of use much smoother. My big drawback for Pico 4 is, it doesn't seem to have an ability to have external batteries for the headset, and the strap is hard wired into the glasses. I have tell Christmas or so before I get a VR so maybe The Quest 3 will be out before than.
No pick yet. Still waiting to see how these continue to improve and will continue watching many video reviews. Too bad about HP news. I have a HP G2 V2 and it is alright. It has one thing I am disappointed in which is the center Sweet Spot(SS) is too small and outside the SS I can see the lenses become blurry. My IPD is 60 so I am at the lowest setting of the Headset. So it is best to move my head rather than just my eyes. I dont use the controllers much since I do SIM racing which is sitting games and just use the headset. Thanks for the video.
Did you get the third party face cover that brings you closer to the lenses? I got it for my G2 and was blown away by how much larger the sweet spot became and increased fov :)
Pico 4 by far, but it does have a couple of design flaws, the audio speaker port position, Third party AMVR face mask is mandontory. Deffo a Quest 2 killer though.
Thanks for the video Cas! I've found that I have quite a lot of light leak on the sides of the face which bounce light onto the lenses and I must have a different shaped head than this is for as it doesn't fit me. Love the controllers though, I've found the tracking better in my use cases! Can't wait for more headset releases!
my question is being that, i don't own quest 2 and pico 4, Pico lenses are better why? let me explain better, in quest 2 I see the black edges being that the lenses are smaller? otherwise in pico 4 which are giants as far as I can see! I mean can you tell me who owns Quest 2 how is it with the visibility and immersion? compared to Pico

I’m sure the game library, and most issues will be solved in time. Dual OLEDs is a HUGE plus! I’m disappointed though they went with the same processor. With Quest 3 on the horizon they should have upped the stakes rather than just being a better version of the Quest. I’d love to leave the Meta-verse but I’m not sure this is quite the escape portal I’m looking for…yet.
I would buy pico to upgrade from my original oculus quest, but it not having the workout games I play like thrill of the fight is a big deal for me, sure I could use my pc to port it, but setting everything up and the increased power cost is not worth it. They really need to cash out some money and try to get the developers to port their games to work with the pico.
Would you use the pico 4 over the index for pcvr? Other youtubers i asked said Index resolution once bumped up with SS they can't notice the difference and said they'd still use index over pico for pcvr. Curious on your opinion also. Thanks
I talked about this about around 16:08 but I think I would use the Pico 4 for PCVR. Not because it has better quality as I don’t think it does with the compression (haven’t tried SS yet tho) but I just prefer being wireless.

Does high resolution or framerate matter more? I am looking at 1832 x 1920 vs 2160 x 2160 but 120hz vs 90hz, personally i think 120 fps is more obvious
as far as i can tell all the games i wanted to get if i got a vr headset weren't on the pico 4, the big question is whether or not they'll be ported to it (for reference i mean gorilla tag and echo arena, just to mention 2)

I just recently learned that you could play wired with the pico 4 despite everyone denying it. This is awesome because im not trying to stream over dorm wifi. What cable would you all recommend because I dont think pico has a pico 4 cable.
Its the same as Q2 just any decent usb-c. Unfortunately the image quality over cable is not better than wireless and imposes a hit to performance due to image compression. With a display port connection this headset would have been perfect . Without DP it is a pass for me and I will wait for something else G3 / deckard / pimax crystal etc ...
The HP Reverb G2 for whatever reason in the UK costs WAY more than the Pico 2. The Pico 2 looks very nice, shame the streaming isn't quite as good though as I really want to do another run of Half Life Alyx

I wanted the pico for pc because it has a display port? But it seems it will still use compression like the quest 2? I have tried the quest 2 but needed a NASA pc for good quality and frame rate.
Pancake lenses require higher brightness of the source display to archive the same final apparent brightness as the fresnel lenses due to how light is bouncing inside multiple times. This is very likely causing the shorter battery life and may also shorten battery life of other headsets with pancake lens design. It will also impact the temperature of the headset, since more energy is dissipated near the lens system.
I’ve bought P4 but really just for PCVR, hope the compressed visuals isnt noticeable on VD! I have a 3080. I thought the bandwidth when using VD sorted out the compression concerns?

Hey what you think about pico 4 sweet spot vs valve index ? I have valve index headset and have bad eyes and somewhy psvr was for me easier to see. :) I have asigmatism and near vision :) cant see more then 2 meters :)
from what i understand a pancake lens do not have the sweet spot problem. sharp basically everywhere except maybe far to the sides from what i understand. if you watch a comparison where the film the lens you can see that it is sharp all over. easiest to see in one of those test screens.
But why would anyone buy old technology? The quest 3 will come out soon , and others . In my opinion , neither one is a smart buy ,wait for the new technology
Yes, I agree for those who have a headset already (my conclusion talks more about it) but there's still so many people who don't have a headset and when they finally look, they'll see one of these two. Many may not know one headset is older

I want to get into VR and was wondering if it's worth waiting for pico4 to come to Poland or eu where I can get it or just go for quest 2 as first headset and call it a day? Worth the price difference and wait? I'm mostly interested in something like beatsaber and fitness stuff while also not really wanting to compromise too much on the quality of the display and probably leaning towards streaming wireless from wifi6 router to headset as it sounds pretty awesome to not get lost in cables and stuff.
As long as you have a good wifi router in the room with it and I mean in the room not in the next one. You can get most of the games on steam or through other means online to work with the pico 4. I am in the US and ordered mine off ebay from a reputable vendor and have had zero issues.
I'm interested in Pico 4 for myself since I have never used one before so wouldn't buy an older headset like the quest 2. Plus I don't like Facebook. In the reviews it seems like pico 4 seems like an upgrade to the quest 2. I'll wait for quest pro if it is better but either one is not in my country yet so I have to wait either way.
In terms of privacy PICO is owned by the same chinese company that owns tik tok and as you could expect the chinese government will spy on you too so take that in count. Both Facebook and Tik tok steal your data

Unfortunately I hate first person anything so I don't plan on being part of vr. I also can't stand social or multiplayer so vr is kind of awkward my hates in one pkg
More RAM does not mean better performance... it just means more RAM... (more space to place textures and so)... Maybe, less stutters to poorly optimized games maybe... but, a terabyte of RAM would be useless if you use low speed RAM... so NO... more RAM does not mean better performance if the speed of the RAM is garbage... this are the specs that matter and no one is talking about... Mhz of the RAM.
As for the content, Pico should be there soon. Since it usually only cost less than a week to review compared to Quest which could cost like three months....So 12 times difference 🙃
While it's great that the Quest 2 has some competition, both headsets pose a VR gaming dilemma. While both offer a stand alone VR experience, neither can provide a AAA VR Gaming experience. So both are a technical VR dead end and both will hobble AAA PCVR Gaming. My advice - choose one or the other and save your money for a PS5/PSVR2 if you are interested in experience the next level in VR Gaming.

Agreed, quest pro and pico4 are 1.5x generational bump. Most people ,with headsets, want a 2-4x jump for the money

As a developer I'd like to know how easy it is to develop for the Pico. There are a ton of tutorials for the Quest 2.

I had that problem when I first got my Pico 4 but it seemed to fix its self for me after a firmware update.

As much as I have mixed feelings about all things “Meta,” I have a Quest 2 headset and use it every day for workouts and active games. I’m unlikely to jump ship to Pico at this point. That said, I am fascinated by VR tech, and this channel is one of my go-to places to find out the latest developments. Thanks for everything you do!
Quest 2 games suck. They are OLD and expensive. The graphics are worse than their PCVR versions. Quest 2 can't play many OLD PCVR games like Asseto Corsa. In fact, Quest 2 can't play any serious PCVR games, unless you have a gaming PC. I have kind of abandoned my Quest 2. Now that I have a ps5, I will wait for PSVR 2. Quest 2 and even Quest 3 are bad options for VR gaming.

@@trumplostlol3007 I myself primarily use Quest 2 for fitness and active games like Beat Saber and Pistol Whip. Not outdated for me or the way I play in VR. To each their own.
@@trumplostlol3007 I mean, there's no standalone headset that can run AC. Nor has AC tried to port to standalone...What you're basically saying is that there's no current standalone headset that can run PCVR equivelent titles natively. That's true for a fairly plain reason; The industry isn't there yet. It sounds like the Q2 and Q3 (which we don't know all that much about) might be bad options for you specifically. We might got stop-gap solutions like PCVR streaming soon, but the PSVR 2 will probably suit you more for the immediate future.
@@ehjhey7 Why put so much weight on your head when you can use a PSVR 2 headset with a ps5 that is much cheaper than PCVR and Quest pro? The gpu of Quest pro is inferior to that of PS4. You can NEVER play any VR games with good graphics. PSVR 2 will most likely have titles like GT7. Or you can play Dirty Rally using your PS5 with the old PSVR headset with much improved fps. PS5's AMD gpu is equivalent to a mid range gaming PC with a RTX 3060ti gpu. Quest pro is two generations behind in terms of computing power.

I like the location of the volume rocker on the Pico4 better than Meta/Quest2. The adjustable play space when sitting down is something I had been wanting for ages on Quest 2 & Pico4 had it out of the box. I'm also very satisfied with the battery being in the back & also wanted this since the Quest1 days. I do wish there was a pin code or fingerprint authentication when buying games on the VR assistant app. Overall? I'm pretty happy with it. 😊
Download speeds were pretty fast in Texas and import? My shipping was $40 thus making the price $469USD for the 256gb model with shipping included. I've been using the VR assistant app for almost 2 weeks now with no problem and games are priced in USD for me. This might be because of the Pico neo 3... Idk
I'm happy with it & got it within a few days after launch without breaking the bank. The friend finder function isn't working for me... I wonder if I'm connected to server's in the US(if it has any)?
And yeah, buying the games tax-free games is nice! 😀 Also, I've been using Ali Express a lot for accessories.
One 'con' I should point out is that the face gasket does start to hurt the forehead after about 40 mins of usage. I think replacing the padding should fix it. Have ordered a replacement kit on AliEx. There are also 3D print files for replacement gaskets on thingaverse -- ones that fit face shapes not so much like East Asians'.
So for US VR users better staying with Quest 2 I guess. Not even any Pico 4 support is here available ?

Considering getting a Pico 4 for wireless PCVR now. I haven't used my old Rift CV1 in a long while but wireless would really make VR fun again.
I really appreciate this fair assessment. I am getting tired of the greedy paid reviews making the pico4 an absolute joy when at best they both have their pros and cons. They are two giant (and in my opinion just as equally shady) corporations doing the absolute same thing on different sides of the planet. Neither of them are going to save the world with this technology. Change, yes. But not save. Anywho… with all that being said. I have big dreams and as much as I like to play a game from time to time, I’d rather be working. Right now meta has what I need, and I’m not really complaining. I will be trying out the quest pro with a very open heart. Because at the end of the day, it’s all about how I feel about my choice and not how The reviewers say I should feel. Which is why I absolutely love this channel.

Great video thanks- I’ve purchased a Pico4 for £269 (incl 3 free games). Quest 2 is around £200 and Quest 3 around £479. I don’t own any games and am mainly interested in viewing footage from my 3d and 360vr cameras. Would you have a recommendation as to whether the Quest 3 is worth an additional £200 for my use case?

The PSVR 2 sounds good with the OLED and HDR but what can you do with it besides games? Can you use the new PSVR2 with SteamVR and use apps from that large library? With Sony I feel like I have to buy everything including media players or I could be wrong. Plus you have to buy a PS5 if you don't already have one. And you can't even get one at MSRP!!! What's the point? And it's wired as well. I could forgive all this if PS5 was available at normal prices and you were to do more than just buy expensive games.
Hopefully it will have a built in video player so you can watch movies. OLED is so much better for that than LCD is.
Quest 2 VS Pico 4 in my opinion:
Comfort is day and night different between Q2 and Pico 4,
Much wider field of you for the Pico than the Quest,
Essentially better controllers, however,
Better amount of games for the Q2 than Pico (could change soon tho)
More accessories for the Q2, considering the Pico 4's strap isn't removable.
Overall in my opinion, if you want much better comfort out of the box, and you live in Europe or Asia, get the Pico 4 imo.
If you live in the US or want to access a bigger library of games (If we don't say that you have a PC), then go with the Q2.
Overall that just my opinions of course 😅, I got my Q2 a week ago and I'm not considering to upgrade anytime soon, I'm really enjoying it so far Thank you for the review either way 🙏

I still have a Rift S and I'm still very happy with it, yes even despite the cable! PCVR is where VR is at for me especially now that mods of existing AAA PC flatscreen games are becoming more commonplace. There just isn't the deep, sophisticated content for standalone due to hardware limitations and I feel that barrier will not be broken for years until the mobile chipset makes some BIG leaps forward.
Great review and comparison thank you. I've used Quest 2 and I found it front heavy to wear after the really excellent comfort of the Rift S. Battery life also an issue for me who is not used to limits on my playing time. I will keep waiting for either Quest 3 or Valve Deckard before I upgrade - if I even upgrade at all. I'll be all retro VR with my RIft S I spose And i'll keep treading on my cable and yanking my head down, getting it twirled around my ankles. Such is life 😆

Oh dear. I've been thinking about getting the Pico 4 at the end of 2023 as my first VR but there's some important features it's missing, hopefully they can be added in as time goes by.
aww, fitness stuff might bring me back to the Pico 4. I'm way too slothen and hope that VR will help me move around more, especially during our 5+ months of icey winter weather.
Knowing how odd some of my body measurements are I suspect having a better adjustment for the lenses will be handy. Plus the 2 quality screens over the 1 screen sounds much better.
Okay, I think Pico 4 will be my pick between these two. I didn't even think about watching movies and stuff with VR so that's just a bonus. Plus the extra ram could make ease of use much smoother.
My big drawback for Pico 4 is, it doesn't seem to have an ability to have external batteries for the headset, and the strap is hard wired into the glasses. I have tell Christmas or so before I get a VR so maybe The Quest 3 will be out before than.
The Quest 2 mic sounds so good??? Damn. When I'm in my Quest 2 on Discord or Zoom I'm always worried it sounds bad but damn....

Too bad about HP news. I have a HP G2 V2 and it is alright. It has one thing I am disappointed in which is the center Sweet Spot(SS) is too small and outside the SS I can see the lenses become blurry. My IPD is 60 so I am at the lowest setting of the Headset. So it is best to move my head rather than just my eyes. I dont use the controllers much since I do SIM racing which is sitting games and just use the headset.

Pico 4 by far, but it does have a couple of design flaws, the audio speaker port position, Third party AMVR face mask is mandontory. Deffo a Quest 2 killer though.

I've found that I have quite a lot of light leak on the sides of the face which bounce light onto the lenses and I must have a different shaped head than this is for as it doesn't fit me. Love the controllers though, I've found the tracking better in my use cases! Can't wait for more headset releases!

my question is being that, i don't own quest 2 and pico 4, Pico lenses are better why? let me explain better, in quest 2 I see the black edges being that the lenses are smaller? otherwise in pico 4 which are giants as far as I can see! I mean can you tell me who owns Quest 2 how is it with the visibility and immersion? compared to Pico
pancake lenses don´t have the problem with "sweet spot" from what i understand. that is what i feel make it overall better.

I’m sure the game library, and most issues will be solved in time. Dual OLEDs is a HUGE plus! I’m disappointed though they went with the same processor. With Quest 3 on the horizon they should have upped the stakes rather than just being a better version of the Quest. I’d love to leave the Meta-verse but I’m not sure this is quite the escape portal I’m looking for…yet.

I would buy pico to upgrade from my original oculus quest, but it not having the workout games I play like thrill of the fight is a big deal for me, sure I could use my pc to port it, but setting everything up and the increased power cost is not worth it. They really need to cash out some money and try to get the developers to port their games to work with the pico.
Would you use the pico 4 over the index for pcvr? Other youtubers i asked said Index resolution once bumped up with SS they can't notice the difference and said they'd still use index over pico for pcvr. Curious on your opinion also. Thanks

I talked about this about around 16:08 but I think I would use the Pico 4 for PCVR. Not because it has better quality as I don’t think it does with the compression (haven’t tried SS yet tho) but I just prefer being wireless.

5:00 recent versions of the Pico 4 OS for some reason set the mics at 16kHz instead of 44. This is why your voice is lacking clarity.

I just recently learned that you could play wired with the pico 4 despite everyone denying it. This is awesome because im not trying to stream over dorm wifi. What cable would you all recommend because I dont think pico has a pico 4 cable.
Its the same as Q2 just any decent usb-c.
Unfortunately the image quality over cable is not better than wireless and imposes a hit to performance due to image compression.
With a display port connection this headset would have been perfect . Without DP it is a pass for me and I will wait for something else G3 / deckard / pimax crystal etc ...

The HP Reverb G2 for whatever reason in the UK costs WAY more than the Pico 2. The Pico 2 looks very nice, shame the streaming isn't quite as good though as I really want to do another run of Half Life Alyx
Half life 2 VR mod is good in Pico 4. The teleporter scene is mind bending!

Pancake lenses require higher brightness of the source display to archive the same final apparent brightness as the fresnel lenses due to how light is bouncing inside multiple times. This is very likely causing the shorter battery life and may also shorten battery life of other headsets with pancake lens design. It will also impact the temperature of the headset, since more energy is dissipated near the lens system.
The pico 4 actually runs pretty warm but has a built in fan to help.

Hey what you think about pico 4 sweet spot vs valve index ? I have valve index headset and have bad eyes and somewhy psvr was for me easier to see. :) I have asigmatism and near vision :) cant see more then 2 meters :)
from what i understand a pancake lens do not have the sweet spot problem. sharp basically everywhere except maybe far to the sides from what i understand. if you watch a comparison where the film the lens you can see that it is sharp all over. easiest to see in one of those test screens.

I want to get into VR and was wondering if it's worth waiting for pico4 to come to Poland or eu where I can get it or just go for quest 2 as first headset and call it a day? Worth the price difference and wait? I'm mostly interested in something like beatsaber and fitness stuff while also not really wanting to compromise too much on the quality of the display and probably leaning towards streaming wireless from wifi6 router to headset as it sounds pretty awesome to not get lost in cables and stuff.
If you have a good enough PC, you can play Beat Saber through that.
As long as you have a good wifi router in the room with it and I mean in the room not in the next one. You can get most of the games on steam or through other means online to work with the pico 4. I am in the US and ordered mine off ebay from a reputable vendor and have had zero issues.
If you're interested in beat saber then the right choice is Quest 2. If you can wait then the Quest 3 is coming next year.

More RAM does not mean better performance... it just means more RAM... (more space to place textures and so)... Maybe, less stutters to poorly optimized games maybe... but, a terabyte of RAM would be useless if you use low speed RAM... so NO... more RAM does not mean better performance if the speed of the RAM is garbage... this are the specs that matter and no one is talking about... Mhz of the RAM.

As for the content, Pico should be there soon. Since it usually only cost less than a week to review compared to Quest which could cost like three months....So 12 times difference 🙃
Horizon Venues and Horizon Worlds is a big deal. Pico has nothing yet to compete.
Horizon worlds is the stupidest social app ever developed. Its a 10 billion dollar failure.
While it's great that the Quest 2 has some competition, both headsets pose a VR gaming dilemma. While both offer a stand alone VR experience, neither can provide a AAA VR Gaming experience. So both are a technical VR dead end and both will hobble AAA PCVR Gaming.
My advice - choose one or the other and save your money for a PS5/PSVR2 if you are interested in experience the next level in VR Gaming.
