Can you boil the plantains better than fried??
I placed aluminum foil in the lime squeezer this avoids the sticking, comes out perfect. I love your channel and I'
m having a great time with your recipes.
What an awesome trick. I never thought of this and now I definitely have to try this! Thank you so much for sharing :)
What's the sauce you have on the side?
Que delicia! de verdad...gracias
Will try...can never go wrong with tostones!!!
Nope, never!!
When I tried this simple recipe I had no idea how good it tasted. Now every time there’s a family gathering everyone keeps asking me to make this appetizer, and like you said I could never make enough. Honestly I am Dominican and I am happy to see someone sharing all our recipes. So I was wondering is it possible for you to make a video on how to make espagueti Dominicano. You truly are amazing.
Why am I just finding this. I made it and everyone in my house hold wanted more thank you so much hun 😘😋 Delicious 🤤
Great Idea! I would never thought of using a citrus squeezer for tostones. Thanks for sharing. #musttry
You're welcome!
Looks amazing! What kind of a citrus press is that and where can I find one? I want to be sure the plantano doesn't squeeze through the small juice holes. Thank you, I will subscribe!
+Leftystrummer thank you so much for stopping by! I usually line my citrus press with some parchment paper so that it doesn't squeeze through the hole. If you have a small mortar and pestle that will also help since the platano will take the shape of that as well. Hope this helps!
Thanks, but I love that citrus press! I saw it on another Dominican cooking channel also, and now I see it here! If you can remember where you got it, or the brand, that would be awesome!
Haha no worries. I actually got my citrus press in the Dominican Republic 3 years ago when I was visiting family :-/ It doesn't have a name/brand. But I do know that they sell similar ones at stores in Hispanic neighborhoods in NYC. Give me a few days and I'll try and find a similar one on Amazon. What makes this citrus press special is the material. It's made from like a metal/stone that reminds me of old school mortar and pestles. I'll get to looking for one and hopefully I can one that's similar :)
Yes! That is what I have been looking for. Also, if you don't find it online, I'll be in NYC in April, and if you know the name of the store(s) I can go there! Many many thanks!
Ah perfect! Yes, I'll keep that in mind!
I like how u take your time and how the camera focuses on the food so I don't miss anything. ...love this recipe.
Thank you for stopping by! I appreciate it :) I definitely try my hardest to make videos that are easy to follow along. The food is always the star of the show lol So happy you liked!
Where did you get your Lemon Squeezer?
I got it while on vacation in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 but you can get some similar ones on Amazon and Target. I have a few suggestions in my Amazon store 😊
Love your videos.
Chef Zee thank you. You are the best cooking instructor I've learned with. Yo antes no sabia cocinar haste que tu aparesiste. You have no idea how much I admire you. Gracias Zee for making me a better person and for teaching me how to cook your wonderful recipes. Thank you zee you inspire me.
Wow, drooling now I gotta try this dish, Thanks Chef Zee!
That's an awesome idea and I would never have thought of the citrus squeezer I love your videos thank you so much you're awesome
Love your Channel. You have inspired me to get more involved in the kitchen by trying out all your recipes. Would love to know what kind of sauce is it that you have in the plate with the camarones con tostones. I would also like to see 3 video that I haven't seen yet in your channel : fried fish with tostones, asopao and spaghetties.
Thank You!!!!
+Jennipher Ventura thanks for watching! Loved your video suggestions and writing them down so I don't forget ☺☺☺ the sauce is the some left over garlic sauce that I cooked the shrimp in. I didn't want to let it go to waste so I simply put the left over sauce from the pan into a mini sauce bowl. Hope you enjoy ! 😋😋😋
You should have Jennipher on as a guest chef via remote! Like a class..
Except I think two beautiful women cooking might break RUclips, and I’m not sure kitty’s are allowed in the kitchen 😊
I agree, love the channel! Lots of great/unique (to me, at least) spice & ingredient combinations
As always, love your videos. How bad would it be to have a sauce pan with a a bit more oil so you don’t have to turn the plantaos around and they cook evenly?
Thanks for watching! It actually wouldn't be bad at all :) You definitely deep fry them so you can avoid flipping them over.
I have baby shower to go to so will try. Thanks for the inspiration Gurl!!!! Please keep the videos coming! Are you working on a cookbook?
Nice!! Let me know how it turns out. As a tip, try to make them close to when people are going to eat this way the shrimp doesn't get cold and rubbery :)
That looks banging 😳🤤🤤🤤 ,will make it thank you
Im going to make this but just had the thought to add guac on it as well 😍
Yes. yes. Yes. Adding guac to this sounds like life!!! Now I have to try that as well lol
Looks delicious as well as beautiful presentation 👍😋
Yummy! Can you make these plantain cups ahead of time to fill later on let’s say like if you wanted to take them to a get together?
This looks amazing *suscribes* !!! I will definitely try this! Could you tell me what the green leaves you used to plate the Tostones are called?
Yay thanks for stopping by! To be honest, I"m not sure what the green leaves are called. I filmed this over the summer when my garden was flourishing lol. I picked this off the tree that my mom has growing in our backyard and used it for the photo to give the thumbnail some color
You can use mango, avocado or banana leaves!
LOVE it! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!
Is there something I can use to substitute the oregano and olivery oil?
you're a queen for that citrus juicer truco for the rellenos
Love love your channel 💕💕
Thank you!!! ☺️☺️☺️
This looks so good. l just had to subscribe. I'm definitely going to make this. What dipping sauce are you using?
The dipping sauce is the leftover garlic sauce from where I cooked the shrimp :) It's delicious. Thank so much for stopping by. Welcome to the family!
Hey Chef Zee do you have a receipe on camarofongo?

Great video. I use a muffin baking pan to shape mine.
MMM Genius idea. I'm definitely going t try that next. Thank you for the tip! And thank you for watching
Made To Order you're welcome
why did you put the cooked shrimp in the bowl that had the raw shrimp in it
Hey! Thanks for stopping by and subscribing :) Welcome to the family!! woot woot. Since I marinated the shrimp in lemon juice and let it sit for while, it was ok to use the same boil. The acid in lemon juice begins to cure the shrimp but like the acid in vinegar that makes ceviche. I wouldn't do this if I were cooking with chicken, pork, beef, etc... :)
I subscribed to your channel because i love the food on it =)
Welcome to the family!
Can you make Mofongo for us? 😬
