Can defenitely relate to this, although I was already a teenager at that time with much better English knowledge. Heck, video games were the reason why I could improve and master my English in the first place.😂 This, Resident Evil 3 and Parasite Eve (a survival horror like rpg, which only came out in Japan and US (mother of a friend of mine had a chipped ps1 where you could play Discs from all regions) ) still are one of my favourite games of all time and I could replay them all the time.😁
I once was at a sleepover at a buddies house. His little brother’s room was next door. All night the little brother was trying to get his game shark to work on his PS1. Over and over again for hours I could just faintly hear the start up PS1 sound. Still haunts me
@@danskyl7279 I never managed to finished it, I liked everything but the puzzles went from "ok not too bad" to "Einstein" pretty much to the point I literally looked up the solution online and still did not knew where to go, I felt entirely lost (pretty much right after the T-rex hits the big generator from what I renember)
Action, Horror, Dinos, great game design AND really clever puzzles all in a PS1 (!) game?!? If i didn't grow up with all these gems, i wouldn't believe it.

I remember playing Dino crisis one and two as a kid back In the early 2000s. It’s legit one of the few really early childhood games I remember super vividly of how the encounters worked, the amazing music,plus the story (mainly the early stages) and now with the capcom new mission to really deliver quality games again. It would be good to get remakes in their respective styles (the first is horror the next a arcade shooter).
Same here - I'd spend hours running around killing Dinos. The atmosphere of the abandoned Edward City and the isolation of the scientific facilities always stuck with me, oh and the footstep sound effect lol
Nah I wouldn't be surprised if it's next since RE4 was the last RE game that really needs a reamke since no one is asking for 5 or 6 and they're ignoring Code Veronica.

I can still remember the day when I first watched my cousin play DC2. It was quite the holiday with everyone in the family. I can remember the doom and gloom feel of the game, the scary dinosaurs, and the iconic characters

Dino Crisis 2 was such a great game. They did a great job pivoting off of the first and going full action instead while keeping the same feel of the tank controls.
@@luminousrogue4957 Hard agree, DC2 was way too arcade-y. It went from a game that was eerie and maze-like with item managment but DC2 distances from that which made a lot of the fans of DC 1 very unimpressed.
Dino Crisis 2 is honestly one of my favorite games of all time. I remember my cousin had a GameShark that would let you fight the blue raptors who were basically raptors with Allosaurus levels of HP iirc. On that note, I used to be so scared of the Allosaurus and that fear was ramped way up during the gauntlet, later in the game.
The combo system in Dino Crisis 2 was such a genius addition, every time I replay Dino Crisis 2 I find myself savouring every moment trying to get huge scores so I can unlock as many characters as possible at the end.
i hope one day we get a remake of dino crysis 1 and 2. even maybe a reimagine of the series. Its was so scary and amazing. The atmosphere and sounds still awesome today!
Resident Evil meets Jurassic Park. Odd that Resident Evil is mentioned frequently when talking about the development of the game but Jurassic Park is only mentioned later in passing as an influence on fans that drew them to it. The game's whole reason for existing was to cash in on the dinosaur boom sparked by the movie.
With the advances in tech made since the development of Dino Crisis, if they remade it today, it might be able to live up to Mikami's vision for the game and then some. Maybe they can bring him back on board to get that all sorted since they did not seem to part on bad terms.
Another similar pair of games I'd love to see is Nightmare Creatures. One of my favorites, I've never played the second because it's so different from the original.
Half of what I heard here is if Shinju Makami had the tech of today back in the late 90s and early 2000s, he'd have elevated gaming to the level of movies long before they did so normally.
I still remember renting the first game when I was much too young to be playing it, and got really freaked out and couldn't keep going lol. It was a pretty scary game for its time.
What an intro! Like a time machine back to my childhood 😄😊 Truly enjoyed this. It would be wonderful to have a proper Dino Crisis game again, more like the first game. And just because they have the tech now to make a 3rd person over the shoulder shooter, doesn't mean they should. Keeping things like the first game would be magic. And Shinji Mikami could implement the brilliant AI now, because the hardware's there for it. That would add so much to the depth and tension of the already great gameplay 😉

Alot of people say DC1 is just resident evil with dinosaurs but it actually has some interesting mechanics like bleeding and dinosaurs showing up more frequently if the bleeding is not stopped also your health deteriorates much like getting poisoned in resident evil except it also effects things like how often dinos spawn in areas or how often they are in the vent shaft areas it was a really cool game with some interesting ideas to separate itself from resident evil i feel it just released at the wrong time so it got compared to everything else on the market
The biggest problem with Dino Crisis 3 was the main protagonist. With cliffhanger in DC 2, players unsurprisingly want to know what's next for Regina or perhaps Dylan. Players cared and hook with their story, but what Capcom did for the third entry? Introducing new protagonist and not only that, doesn't have connection between 1&2. DC 3 was already failed from the beginning. I mean, without Regina or Dylan and connection ties to 1&2, what's the reason for us to play DC 3?
It seems this is another game that hit it big before it had any real series direction. It has some unique ideas but it didn't know how to keep things going. It's sad when such a promising franchise dies from a lack of direction or personality like this.
Man... my step dad is hooked onto this game when I was a kid. He literally unlocked every single costume and even the unlimited grenade launcher. He's so happy that he can play through the entire game with the unlimited grenade launcher rather than a pistol I would laugh at his costume and weapon skins set in the prehistoric cave man (pistol in a shape of a bone, shotgun in a shape of a longer bone etc), when he would play it.
It surprises me still that Capcom didn't remake Dino Crisis and capitalize on the Dinosaur craze going on in the 2010s during the Jurassic World and Ark: Survival Evolved hype.
I think they should tie in the Dino Crisis storyline with the Resident Evil universe. Create a modern Dino Crisis game where halfway through, a T or G or whatever Virus merges with the dinosaurs. The enemy artists/designers could have a field day with all kinds of mutated monster bioweapon-esque dinosaur designs.
I stumbled to the name and I wish I was born earlier to experience this game. I'm an unfortunate gen z who never experience this classics and enjoys older games more than newer games due to how they felt real different and the implementation is well refine. Old games are cool if u can get pass cheesy liners and other petty issues.
If Capcom releases a Dino Crisis remake in the same vain They’ve made RE2, RE3, and RE4, the game will sell like hot cakes and reignite interest in the franchise!!!
Though it is a somewhat interesting idea to have dinosaurs instead of the usual zombie apocalypse. Looking back at it now, I just can’t seem to be bothered to play it nowadays because there are far too many complicated puzzles to get through. Another thing is the lack of music variety that resident evil games did so well. I mean as a kid I played the demo so many times but now I get pulled back to playing re 2 and 3 and sometimes 1. I do think that dino crisis is like a shadow to resident evil games and I hate to look at it that way but lets be honest if we got a another game with replicants from blade runner which in my opinion would’ve been just as amazing, that too would’ve somewhat convoluted and another shadow of the past. When I look up survival horror games besides re games, I get only fps results to my search. Its really pitiful actually.
Luckily there are a handful of Dino Crisis-esque survival horror games by indie developers on the horizon. Check out Compound Fracture, Paleophage, Lost Wilds. (Also this is a bit of a plug because I'm developing Paleophage but I am sincerely excited to see the dino-horror revival with all of these new projects)
I loved this Dino crisis II when I was a kid. I was scared, excited ,curious, I absolutely wanted to know the end. one rare game where I persevered and finished. I was not disappointed....except when sequels appeared. lol
If we ever are lucky enough to see a remake I'm worried they might drastically change the sounds the dinosaurs make. Making them "realistic" sounding... The Raptors are so damn scary I love them!
I remember playing the demo of Dino Crisis and having to push the panic button (i.e. quit) quite often due to the scary atmosphere of the game. Thought briefly about buying the full game but never did, as I probably would not have finished it :D
Dino Crisis and Silent Hill deserve the treatment that Resident Evil has gotten

One thing I always found impressive about Dino Crisis 2 is how well animated Regina's face is during the pre-rendered FMV cutscenes.
Much better than these photorealistic faces they use nowdays.
Everyone's face is. Dino Crisis 2, Parasite Eve 2 and final fantasy IX were pushing the absolute limits of CG FMV tech with their FMV quality.
DC2 Regina is the quintessential Regina. If they ever remaster I hope they maintain the voice actor for her.
And the way the characters are interact during event cutscene, feels like they're using a mocap acting, Dino Crisis 2 is waaay ahead of it's time

If Capcom releases a Dino Crisis remake in the same vain They’ve made RE2, RE3, and RE4, the game will sell like hot cakes and reignite interest in the franchise!!!
This game deserves a remake
I think a Dino Crisis reboot or remake playing like the recent Resident Evil remakes could be promising
You can always do a rise and fall episode on another Capcom abandoned franchise: the seminal jrpg Breath of Fire.
Though it is a somewhat interesting idea to have dinosaurs instead of the usual zombie apocalypse. Looking back at it now, I just can’t seem to be bothered to play it nowadays because there are far too many complicated puzzles to get through. Another thing is the lack of music variety that resident evil games did so well. I mean as a kid I played the demo so many times but now I get pulled back to playing re 2 and 3 and sometimes 1. I do think that dino crisis is like a shadow to resident evil games and I hate to look at it that way but lets be honest if we got a another game with replicants from blade runner which in my opinion would’ve been just as amazing, that too would’ve somewhat convoluted and another shadow of the past. When I look up survival horror games besides re games, I get only fps results to my search. Its really pitiful actually.

Luckily there are a handful of Dino Crisis-esque survival horror games by indie developers on the horizon. Check out Compound Fracture, Paleophage, Lost Wilds. (Also this is a bit of a plug because I'm developing Paleophage but I am sincerely excited to see the dino-horror revival with all of these new projects)

I loved this Dino crisis II when I was a kid. I was scared, excited ,curious, I absolutely wanted to know the end. one rare game where I persevered and finished. I was not disappointed....except when sequels appeared. lol

I recommend all but the third game, but especially Dino Crisis 2. So many great additions to the series and great replayability

If we ever are lucky enough to see a remake I'm worried they might drastically change the sounds the dinosaurs make. Making them "realistic" sounding... The Raptors are so damn scary I love them!

I remember playing the demo of Dino Crisis and having to push the panic button (i.e. quit) quite often due to the scary atmosphere of the game. Thought briefly about buying the full game but never did, as I probably would not have finished it :D
