Thin sound is all relative, if you only play solo synth maybe you want the thickest fullest sound. In the context of a song with other instruments how much freaking space do you wanna take up ? Very f’ing asshole in the band always want to be the loudest part. That doesn’t work, turn my bass up, make my kick louder, turn up my guitar. The only person that usually wants to hide a be more tucked is the singer. Synth is mostly a texture piece in the band from my perspective. This would work perfectly great
I purchased this when it was first released and it’s been great. Definitely sounds a lot better in person .Behringer been doing their thing in the last few years. Glad they make their products affordable. For the price of an original OBXA I got the UBXA, Behringer Wjng Compact and the Behringer Wave on pre order. Behringer is for the people. P.S I’m not a gear snob.
I’d wager if this didn’t have the B trigger word in it people might be less critical. Synth tribalism is wild and some people can’t even see they are participating in it. More objectively, I think the mod matrix, atrophy and other newer settings will obviously make this sound less like what someone would expect from an OB-XA. And there’s no reason to restrict oneself to what the old synth can do when you have these new tools at your fingertips. I really liked a lot of these patches.
Yeah OB rocks better. I don’t trust Behringer anymore since my VC340 broke and it just collecting dust particles. I’m going to put money on Behringer no more than $350.00 that’s it.
The UB has a pretty nice modulation matrix (think it's 8 slot, 32 sources , 42 destinations) and you can easily stack and still have 8 voices which greatly expand sound design, essentially doubling everything and with some forethought that sound pallet increases significantly. Plus if you take advantage of the Atrophy settings (soon to be per preset, currently 8 presets) you can get some pretty wild stuff going. Really they're just totally different synths. The TEO is a more modern semi-SEM based synth with 5 voices and efx and the UB is a more classic Xa Curtis based synth with 16 voices and poly AT. As for build quality, I don't know. I do know the TEO-5 has more plastic on it compared to other OBs but I don't have either the 5 or UB. I have an X8. I'm thinking about getting the UB-Xa desktop though. It should be available pretty soon. It sounds darker, moodier than my X8 so I'm thinking they'll play well together.
@@EnervatedSociety TEO-5 has a powerful and flexible mod matrix. SonicState just posted a review, and it looks like a real beauty. In the mean time Behringer pumps out dozens of synths then discontinues them.
Haven't changed anything but I can confirm that it is super hard to read when you're sitting in front and there's some light coming from above (I am not talking about a main stage at 2PM in mid summer, just some light through the window in the morning)
Oh please, cut that ' this synths not as good as my blabla' crap. Because it only shows you have no idea what synthesizers and sound programming is all about. On top you are judging something you hear on RUclips (compressed) And last but not least, I program synths since the early 80's and own many synths most people can only dream of. For my profession by the way and I make my living with synths and sound mixing. EVERY(!!) synth has got great features. It comes down to explore, discover and use whatever synths at it's full potential. Whether it is a vintage Yamaha CS80 or any freeware soft synth. Study the matter, or better don't say stupid things... catch my drift?
Tried both (still have on my mac book) Arturia OBXa and Sonic Projects op-x and was rather underwhelmed as the liveliness of an analog VCO on UB-xa can give me more satisfaction. Of course everybody has different level of perception and set of ears so this argument can't never be won! To me 5 voice on a poly synth in 2024 is a slap in a face not saying it sounds bad...it's just that I can do more with UB especially with layering complex sounds
@@Sonikbytes yeah, at least on synths we have freedom :) im genuinely happy people can choose what they like even if it starts with b or m or else. and can talk about it w/o hate. I own the V9 Collection and don’t like the Arturia OBXA… it sounds very synthetic without any organic feeling. One of the worst V Collection’s plugin to my ears.

The ubx certainly has it's own charm, maybe thinner than oberheim but the beating of the osc's is quite beauty , some really nice custom sounds too.
Thank you for sharing these demos and patch examples. Appreciate it.
Sounds great to me, not sure why all the hate. Love the detuned patches, and maybe they think it sounds thin because of the resonance.

I dunno, the TEO-5 is just $300 more and based on reputation will last a lot longer. Behringer has more voices but a more limited sound palette
I like the TEO-5 also more with SEM multimode filters...👍👍👍👍

Some nice patches. Is this the “Dusk” patches?
Yes
Super patches! How did you make the display dark background? Or does it just look that way because of the camera recording? :)

It sounds too thin. Not even close to my OB-6. TEO-5, that is something i am going to get this winter.
Yeah the sound is not there for some reason.

Doesn’t sound right somehow.
It has no “it”. Or it’s just me? My Arturia OBXa VST sounds more authentic. And every TEO-5 preset I heard is just just asking to be in a song. Hmmm

Useless patches for the most part - not very musical
My Peak is worth exactly $400 more than this and is about 1/5 the size.
Desktop version just dropped whoop whoop
Can the peak do the same sounds?
The detuning stuff seems poorly implemented.
Wow, it sounds really very very average. Very surprised, could be the patches though.
boring
Split the board, OR layer it with a digi synth and now it’s interesting.
Presets always suck. You have to make it your own. If these are custom i wouldn't buy them. Super boring,
