How I refresh my hair in the morning: ruclips.net/video/pJn9IkeC_gk/видео.html
wow for the first time in my life i've found someone who has the same type of hair as me. wavy/curly, asymmetrical, shoulder length, extremely low density. all because of hair loss that started due to medical issues at age 13. so glad i found your channel, it feels like a weight off my shoulder to know im not the only one who struggles with this. love how real you are, and im gonna try out some of the tips you gave too!
Wow, it sounds like we have a TON in common! This channel has been a godsend for me. You're not alone!!!
We are hair twins. I have never found anyone with the same thickness and texture as me. I am even shocked how you described your hair gets when you sleep, it is the same for me. I am so excited to try your recommendations! Thank you :)
As someone with low density 2C waves, I agree that shoulder length is where it’s at!!! Nice tutorial.
Thank you! Yeah definitely, it looks much thicker and fuller!
Megan; I just watched your first video, where you discuss your thin hair. Your hair looks SO much better now! It looks thicker and fuller. Whatever you are doing, stick with it! And I like that haircut on you.
Hi Lynn! Thank you so, so much for the sweet words of support.
Yeah me too like that hair cut. Tell me about it.
I have been a hairstylist for over 28 years. Look at it this way, the thinning shears give you voids and spaces in the hair that is cut with them. It can also collapse a haircut making it flat. It is better to point cut your ends (with the regular shears) after they are dried to make sure this doesn’t happen.
Also if I can suggest the Aveda Invati styling foam as a root lifter and thickening product. It’s a bit more expensive, but worth every penny. If they have a travel size, get that first to try it.
Thank you so much for the pointers, Juanita! And I will definitely check out that styling foam.
I sure can relate to you, and I thank you for being a role model for accepting and working with thin hair. I just found you and I'm going to binge watch everything you have posted!! You're rocking it !
5:43 YESSSS. I scrunch my hair like this too!! We have the same hair type and it makes such a difference!
The technique makes a huge difference, right?!
Mousse is the way to go for thin fine wavy. Plus make sure your hair is almost dripping wet when you apply This helped me a lot
I have very fine thin gray hair. I’ve tried everything then I found redken curvaceous curl refiner and curvaceous full swirl. They are awesome the best my hair has looked since I went gray. ❤❤❤ them.
OMG, I have the same bathroom cabinet full of products that promised miracles but didn't work! "Greasy straight" is exactly the results I get too, (ugh, no one wants that!) so I always revert to a high quality mouse and Suave heat defense keratin infusion leave-in conditioner. I really like that diffuser too! Thanks for the tips!
I NEED heat protector. Thank you for the recommendations!!! xo
My Grand-Daughter and I watch your videos. We have them bookmarked. Your Hairstyle and Hair is just like hers. We've been working on trying to do curls for a long time. { She's 7 now}. I bought everything except the Diffuser. That's next week. Man, we are trying over here. Thank you so much for the time you take to put these vids out. We truly appreciate it. Oh, and, You are a Beautiful Woman. YOU could be a Model ya know. Be well. Peace.
What a sweet comment. Thank you so much.
Such a helpful video thanks for sharing! As someone w thinner curly/wavy hair I can’t tell you how much I appreciate these tips. Also you have beautiful eyes!
Your short hair is beautiful!! Love that you’re embracing it. I have very similar hair as yours😊
Thank you so much! Glad you're part of our little community.
Gosh did you get inside my head??? I feel like we’re the same person! 🤣 my hair is also fine and thin and I get frustrated because I want this long luxurious hair but mine just looks so much better short!! Thank you so much for the styling tips this helps a lot. Mine isn’t super curly either but I have trouble figuring out what it needs because of how thin and fine it is
Man, YOU ARE IN MY HEAD TOO! Hang in there. This is a never-ending journey. But our community is actually HUGE. There are a lot of people like us.
I started cracking up after the 5th failed product. Looks like my bathroom. I feel your pain!
ohmygosh! Fiinally another thin haired curly girl! I struggle so much finding products that work for wavy/curly hair but aren't too heavy for thin hair.
Literally trying all of these tips tomorrow.
@@susie_withe_sass Well you're in the right place!!
@@MeganGrantCurlyGirl Thanks i'll be checking out future videos as well :)
@@MeganGrantCurlyGirl I also sent you a message on instagram!
@@susie_withe_sass Did you?!!?!? Did we talk and I just forgot? I've got two channels but really only use one. The handle is coachmegangrant (I use it mostly for work).
I find no layers or very minimal layering is best for me as well. And shoulder length dry is best too. I don't have bangs right now but think I may need to get them again. I feel like there is more visible scalp without bangs.
Ugh I'm jealous. I tried bangs and looked HORRIBLE. And totally agree--shoulder length has been best for me too.
Love yr hair. I also have very thin, fine hair. I have to get perms but I always struggle to keep my curls looking good.
I've been wondering about perms! How is the experience for you?
@@MeganGrantCurlyGirl Perms work pretty well for me as long as I don't get really tight perms
Have you tried Aussie scrunch spray? It really helps. Just spray on slightly damp or dry hair and scrunch while using the diffuser.
A big Like for your personality! I mean, a hairdresser made a mistake and you've accepted it! 😇
I have baby fine thin hair also. Not as thin as yours, but definitely thin. They always want to put layers in and I have always let them, but I never am happy with them. It makes my hair look very stringy and see through on the ends. I recently got a stylist that also has thin hair and she said...don't get layers. Her hair was blunt cut. She cut mine with a blunt cut, and I actually really like it. I have gotten more compliments on my blunt cut than I ever got on my layered cut, and now it does not look see through or so stringy. I'm not sure why stylists push the layers, but no more layers for my very fine thin hair!
I would be curious to try a blunt cut with my shorter hair now. I get what you're saying... and it's that same argument I had heard and kind of agree with. If you've got thin hair, don't chop MORE off! It did give me a little body, so I like that. But I think as this cut grows out, next time I get a trim, I might ask them to cut it one length, like you described, just to try. This is the shortest my hair has ever been, so I want to give a blunt cut a chance. :-) About what length is your hair?
Thank you for your advice!!
@@MeganGrantCurlyGirl My hair is about chin length with the waves. If I stretched them out it would just touch my shoulders.
Your hair looks much fuller from the the first video. I have that problem too 😕 I'm barely going to start my curly girl method journey. I have PCOS so my hair is horrible now. Thank you for the videos.
You're very welcome! Hang in there. You're not alone. It's a journey!
I call going to a walk-in discount hair salon, "Super Cuts roulette" because you never know what you are going to get. I have had the most happy surprises and the worst cuts of my life this way. But, to be fair, I've not had better luck at fancy expensive salons.
My hair is exactly as thin as yours but a bit more curly (I don't have to work at getting it to curl). I do co-wash every day. I use As I Am's coconut cowash and before exiting the shower, I apply a quarter to half dollar dollop of Suave coconut conditioner squished through very wet, upside down hair. Then I plop in my t-shirt while I get dressed. Then, I use LA Looks sports gel in my hair, which I do not comb through at all once out of the shower. Then I flip the hair side to side and front to back several times and then let air dry.
That's my routine for now. It could use some tweaking, I think the diffuser may help.
Just wanted to share in case you wanted to give it a try. These are very inexpensive products and don't weigh my hair down at all.
Roulette! I love that. :p Thank you so much for the advice. I'll have to give that method a try - I'm open to just about anything. Plopping is a game-changer. I think it's just about finding the right technique. THANK YOU!!
Yay! Someone with the same kind of hair as me. 😊👍👍
You've actually got very similar hair to the picture you showed.
As for layers, they're great for finer hair types, providing you keep the layers around the ear. That way, you keep the density in your mids and ends. The hairstyle you put up on screen would really suit you it would really make your hair look thicker. Also highlights add depth to finer hair, creating the illusion of more hair, using lightner also thickens the hair strand, by roughing up the hair, again creating more volume.
Oh I know what ur going through. I have very thin hair but, the botton is so heavy because of the waves in my hair. Got mine cut about to my chin so that helps some. I think u have pretty hair. Thanks for the tips. 👍🙂
I found you so cute & adorable, after watching 100 girls tutorials - you the one I subscribe ❤
The haircut looks great! And thank you for the tips. I definitely have to try not squeezing at the end when I scrunch it. So far, I feel like all my curls disappear by the end of the day:/
Oo! Also, when you refresh your curls in the morning, do you use more product or just water?
I know EXACTLY what you mean. You should see my hair right now. It was curly yesterday. Straight today. :-|
@@SleepStoriesASMR Good question! I do NOT use more product. I tried and my hair just couldn't handle it. So I just water it down a little with a spray bottle. I have my next video on that coming soon. :-)
Thank you making videos Megan, especially made for US (thin, curly hair)!! Results are realistic.
Have you tried Hask Curl Care product line and Nutrofol hair supplement?
Thank you again lady.. You rock!
What a sweet comment. Thank you so much.
Yes, I have and currently use them myself now. ;)
I love OGX products too! Not too expensive either. That length works better on you! I think you could easily get away with a bob as well. But I would like to say that the Deva Curl diffuser, I have had a lot of luck with it.
I've been SO curious about that. I'll have to try it! Thank you for the compliment.
so glad to have found you! I love the haircut on you! my nickname is "the utiliser", and I don't like seeing things go to waste...can I purchase some of the products that didn't work for you from you? I am in the midst of trying products, so I would be happy to buy several to try!
You're my hair soul mate. I've got the same hair even though I used to have lots till I was around 30 years old. These hair ( thin or thin but abondant) have always driven me mad. Nothing work on them, even what works one minute does not the next.
So glad I found your channel. My hair is similar. I subscribed and looking forward to more videos!
Thank you, Ariana! It's lovely to connect with you.
You're beautiful, thank you for this!!
Thank you so much
It's nice to find a community of ladies with hair so much like mine. Unfortunately the crown area of my scalp is so fine and transparent I never wear my hair down bc it's so noticeable. 😞
Ughhhhhhh that IS frustrating. And it makes you feel out of control. Hang in there. I bet you're gorgeous. xo
I get PRP done now a few times a year along with aldactone and minoxidil. It made a HUGE difference!!
You might prefer to try layering only on top, from your temples in a horseshoe to your occipital bone at the back of your head, and leave all hair below the one length. That way, you don't end up with even thinner straggly mid lengths to ends, This is what knowledgeable/experienced hair stylists recommend for fine low density hair. You may have discovered this since, but I thought I'd comment just in case and for others to perhaps see.
Same position. But to get worst in Greece CG approved products are not popular. Only giovanni line and lately briogeo (not all). then you have to search. But after following the CG method for 5 years 2c-3a high porosity low density fine hair I realise that
1. the most products CG approved are too heavy for my hair
2. I suffered from built up
3. I am always frizzy but
I discovered that I have loose ringlets at 50 years old. And no matter what I did my hair looked very frizzy and sticked on my head. I don't have lines to experiment and the majority of curl products have silicones I decided that if everything I have used cheap or expensive my hair is not good I have to try to fix my hair. I have started this month to use Nioxin treatment to make my hair to look thicker and more dense. because of sulfates I started to use some silicone in order to be less frizzy on top products like gel or cream. I am satisfied at the moment but is too soon. I will let you know
Hi Konstantina, definitely let me know how that goes! I tried Nioxin awhile back as well.
I've had the same experience with a lot of CG products. Too heavy, too greasy. And they make me break out! It's a constant experiment, lots of trial and error. We'll get there, though! Stay in touch.
I also have fine frizzy curly hair. Some parts of my hair are curly, other are just frizzy... I agree curly hair products are to heavy for us fine hair girls. For me the curly hair method doesn't work at all, any of the steps. If I curl it in big curls, it seems I have less hair because I will have just a few curls.
What I do now is the opposite of the cg method: I brush it dry, and then wet it just a little and I put some moose in it. I scruch it to give some shape and put the diffuser. This way I work with my frizz to give me volume, while I give the control with the moose.
Girl, go try the new curlsmith fragrance free line
I will check this out - thank you!! xo
Omg, we have very similar hair type so i know how difficult it is to style our hair. Frontal area is the main concern.
YES!!!! I am SO self-conscious of it. And it's the first thing people see. Super frustrating.
Thanks first time watching your video i do not feel alone. I am having issues with my hair falling. I suggest vitamins. Use silk pillow case when going to sleep helps.
With fine, thin hair stay away from curl creams. Instead use mousses, gels, lotions and some custards. But I'd have terrible curls if I didnt have layers. Primarily because the curls bounce up and help fill in the gaps.
Yeahhh definitely learned about curling creams the hard way! I'm so torn on the layers. I get both arguments, but I just can't decide if I love them or hate them!
Wich mousse do you recommend or gel or custard?
@@patsycurtis5557 I like Jessicurl Rockin Ringlets, Mop Top Custard, TreLuxe Hi Definition Curl Enhancing Gel, Kinky Curly Curling Custard. My hair doesnt seem to like any mousse at the moment though many like the Not your Mothers.
@@karenn993 I have fine very curly hair but it falls flat on my roots. Can't seem to get volume in them 😪😪
@@patsycurtis5557 That's pretty common. I get good volume from the Jessicurl. It's a very watery type of product. The Rocking Ringlets has virtually no hold so you'll likely have to pair it with something else if you need hold. The Jessicurl Confident Coils works well. It's kind of a lotion texture. If you need even more hold, try the Jessicurl Spiralicious. The other products I recommended are a bit heavier so apply sparingly.
How're you keeing? Just found this vid I think I searched diffuser+fine. Oooh we have quite a similar hair type. Your channel will be very interesting to me. Thanks. :)
Fyi for all you other thinnies out there who use mousse since it's the lightest styler - the way to get rid of the crunch isn't by scrunching but by clapping the hair between your hands. I learned this life saving tip from a RUclips comment so am passing on the wisdom!
Thank you for the pointer!
I LOVE your hair! Hopefully mine will look like yours soon :)
PRP changed my life. If you can afford it, it is a miracle, really.
What is PRP? My son had PRP injections in his rotator cuff tears.
I was told to make more of a blunt on purpose cut otherwise your hair just looks messy and uneven. I also have fine, curly shorter hair. Also, i love the be curly line from Aveda.
It's so frustrating - every stylist tells me something different. I can see the pros/cons of both types of cuts!
When it’s dry it looks normal, I wouldn’t even think it’s thin in Public. But I’m guy so idk if my opinion counts. Anyway looks good to me
Have you tried Aveda’s curl enhancing hair spray? I have fine, thin curly/wavy hair and I absolutely love it. I have tried creams, gels, mousses and foams and it all feels like too much product.
The spray is alcohol based, which a lot of curlies will say is bad, but to me it makes total sense to use a product that goes in wet and then starts evaporating so that a lot of the weight disappears. Not to mention, it’s not greasy AT ALL. Also, the protein in it actually pulls the curls tighter as it dries because the protein kind of «shrinks».
If I spray it in while my hair is wet rather than damp or towel dry, and then scrunch with a microfiber towel or a t-shirt, I get way less frizz and way more hold than I do with mousse or foam, without being crunchy after I scrunch out the cast! I seriously recommend it.
I haven't tried it but you're the second person to mention it, so clearly, I need to buy some! Thank you for all of the tips. I'm going to give this a shot.
Drug store products for curly hair never work that great for me, the quality of the product are not superior. One that I recommend is Aveda, be curly curl enhancer. It intensifies curl, combats frizz and helps boost shine on curly or wavy hair. When I use blow dryer on hot setting, it give me extra volume. Smells so good, and everyone I have recommended it to, including men have loved it. It cost about $20.00 but you only have to use a little on fine hair and last me about a year. It can be returned to stores if not satisfied, but if a person gives it a few weeks to notice a difference, I think most will be happy with it.
Thank you for this suggestion! I'll definitely check it out. xo
What products do you use? When you refresh you don't mention the product that you are not adding more of. Thank you for your videos!
I don't use any extra product, typically. Just water! I share my process in this video: ruclips.net/video/pJn9IkeC_gk/видео.html
How are ya, Megan Grant. this is a beautifully amazing video. thank. :)
Thank you!!!
Hi Megan- do you scrunch out the crunch when it's completely dry to break the cast? It will get rid of the wet look if that's what you are going for😊
Hey! I do, but when I accidentally use too much product, it's a lost cause. :p I'm a work in progress!
@@MeganGrantCurlyGirl oh my gosh I hear ya on that one. I am so frustrated with my hair right now. I am trying to figure out how to get rid of wet frizz and I always end up putting in too much product to get rid of it and then it ends up looking greasy and lifeless.
@@alishamorton3880 Do you dry your hair with a regular towel when you get out of the shower?
@@MeganGrantCurlyGirl nope, I use a t-shirt. Today I did pretty well on the frizz. I washed my hair with a voluminizing shampoo (it's not curly girl approved), used Bounce Curl conditioner, Giovanni mousse (also for volume)and then a little Not Your Mother's Curl Gel.
I have the same hair as you! So refreshing to see someone on youtube with the same hair. Just got my hair cut and the lady said use as much product as the size your finger and thumb are around your pony tail. So its like two peas for me for gel then i dont look greasy but u still get a cast i scrunch out.
Hey, can you do the robe method pls :) x
YES! I've been dying to try that. Thanks for the idea!
This is my hair literally. Loss so much after covid and work stress.
Used to love my hair now I'm hiding it with a cap or put on granny bun. 😢
Hi, so excited to see your journey. Also have you tried using root clips
So glad you're here, Fatima! I haven't tried root clips yet but a few people have mentioned that. Maybe I'll do my next video on that!
Surprisingly helpful. Thank you. P.S.
Thank you
I think OGX has sulfates.
The not your mother's curl foam is light and has good hold!
Curly ladies , use a satin pillowcase,, you won’t regret it
Updating my comment two weeks ago Nioxin therapy (the 3 step) has a lot of protein. I used the 4 therapy (for chemical treated hair) twice a week and it was drying my hair (very porous). I used 6 therapy the heaviest moisturizing of the line two times now and it is much better. If I use after shampoo my Musk which has protein, my hair is a little protein overload. (hard and frizzy). My thin hair loves protein but Nioxin has a lot and I have to be careful of my other products.
II used aveda be curly cream and was just OK.. Still frizzy a little heavy and becomes dry after 2 days (perhaps because of silicone).i will try it again later. I used saryna key glaze as my gel (full of silicones) and I was shocked. I lost my curls . I was wavy, dry, frizzy. Heavy Cones covered my thin hair and maked it straighter perhaps. I used cheap Mousse wella deluxe dream curls again with Cones and still frizzy and stringy. I think that even I use sulphate, cone is not making my hair better in any way. It is the same or worst. Nioxin maked my curls bouncer and a little fuller after a month of use (twice a week). I used just a Moisturising cream from an organic brand and a Mousse for volume (not for curls). Just full of curls. (if you are for the brands let me know, but I think you have a lot of better options anyway). That's for now
You are so beautiful ...
Thank you, Dristi.
Are you balding?
To much waffle
My stylist mentioned that cold hair "locks" it in. Back when he used to blow it straight, he'd always use the heat then turn it to cold to set it. if that makes sense..
Yes, totally! I've heard that as well. Thank you for the reminder.
