Before you do all this go to your lg OLED inputs and edit them. Click the console picture for your gaming inputs and change it to the laptop looking symbol. This unlocks black level auto on older lg OLEDs so you don't need to manually switch levels to match games that utilize either full RGB (non hdr content) or yuv422 (hdr content) Then go to your ps5 hdr settings, 14 clicks for first two settings, max black for last setting, set dtm to on, hgig isn't properly utilized by MOST games. After you do this go ahead and set your ps5 hdr to on when supported, make sure 1440p is enabled otherwise games that get downscaled will revert to 1080p. You can see this under your supported ress and when you scroll to 1440p it'll either show you all things available or say test your screen. Once enabled go ahead and change resolution back to auto since it'll show 1440p instead of auto or 4k. Change lg OLED audio output to cinema. Change cold/warm level on lg OLED picture settings to something on the slightly warmer side. Something like warm 1 if you only have 2 warm choices or something like warm 5-10 if you have 20 settings. Disable any ai enahncements or power saver modes on the tv. Enable 3d audio in PS5 audio settings. Leave level to 0

My TV turns white with 17 touches with dynamic mapping (about 1295 nits), and with 13 touches without dynamic mapping (about 735 nits)... But the manufacturer says that the model has 330 nits. But giving it 8 touches (353 nits), it's still a long way from the square turning white. How much should I leave?
@@maddog_04 Yes. It was found that the TV does light dynamic processing even with mapping disabled, so it's better to use dynamic mapping. But a professional calibration showed that the ideal for it is 15 touches on white and 3 on black. And some changes to the 20 white dots in advanced settings.
Hey I just found your video, I'm rolling on the ground with Q70A dynamic tone mapping is driving me crazy and can't be turned off, how many clicks should I go for PS5 ? Edit: what are those things I hear about triggering 1000nits on samsung tvs does that apply to the Q70A?
Hi thanks for going to this trouble for us. I scanned through the comment section looking for replies to a 600 nit monitor but found none. Could you advise on a monitor with maximum 600 nits PS5?
Very weird and i forgot to mention it earlier mate, but on my LG C1 it takes 15 clicks on both screens so 970 nits and that's with HGIG turned on. Do you know why that is because as far as i know it should clip with 14 clicks 840 nits!?

Should I go 20/15/0 as the PS5 calibrator suggests or go 15/15/0 as the HDR guide here suggests? (Even though the sun is still showing on the 1st screen)

So for the playstation 5 hdr setting 1st screen Max Full Frame Tone Map Luminance (MaxFFTML) : It specifies the max level of brightness the TV can display before clipping, WHEN MOST OF THE SCREEN IS REALLY BRIGHT, also called primary HDR range. 2nd white screen -Max Tone Map Luminance (MaxTML): The same as above but for small bright windows and specular highlights. Also called Extended HDR range. It is higher than the MaxFFTML. X90J should be 1st screen 12 clicks 631 2nd screen 14 clicks 840 On my Xbox it says my x90j full screen hdr is 650 and specular highlights are 800
on my x90k , 1st screen 13 clicks , 2nd screen 16 clicks, i did it with hdr tone mapping off and after calibration , i turn it on to graduation preferred
Hi great video once again! Do you happen to know (or even have a rough estimate) of the nits for TCL QLED C725k? It is HDR10 - which is advertised as 1000 nits, though I know that isnt the case - have seen conflicting numbers between 450-600nits.

So if my samsung q80b has peak brightness is 1500 nits then step 1 and 2 will be 18 steps in HGIG mode enabled? Although the sun disappears in 17 steps on both steps and becomes barely visible in 16 steps so which is right?
@@gildoringlarion Hi, I have the X950H which has a peak brightness 10% Window of 1,106 cd/m². Is 15 or 16 clicks is right number of clicks or 27, which is when the sun disappears?
@kefote, Hi, Regarding " the sun doesn't disappear until the 28th click and disappears on the 18th click on the second screen" it could be related to X-Tended Dynamic Range set to 'High' in Game Mode. If you set X-Tended Dynamic Range set to 'Off' before adjust HDR the first and second screen the sun should disappear on the 27/28th click.

Do I still have to make 14 clicks or are these 11-12 clicks also sufficient? I would appreciate an answer in this regard :)
So I'm assuming you start by pushing the down button until it's on the lowest setting and that is 0. And then you count the clicks up from there?
Yup. I believe that’s the correct way.
Hi, I recently purchased PS5 and my TV is Xiaomi Q1E, website says the peak brightness is 1000nits but for my PS5 the sun only disappeared when I do max clicks on 1st and 2nd settings, is there something wrong? Should I just follow the data table? Hope you still reply to comments.
Follow the instruction on the screen. Look like you tv is doing tone mapping like crazy
So you say don’t do the calibration with DTM on or off, what do us folks do when that’s our only option…
Find out how many nits your tv has, then adjust it accordingly
Thanks for the Video, so the Description from Sony is wrong when HGIG is on? The sun shouldnt shiw up at all? Just got my PS5 and im a bit confused. Im on LG CX too 😊
My x90j doesnt have hgig, so what am I supposed to do before calibrating hdr? I only have off, gradation preferred, and brightness preferred.
I’ve read for the x90j same tv as yours that your meant to turn off tone mapping calibrate the ps5 then turn it back on not sure if that’s correct tho
Hey amok
Great content.keep up your Work.
Kurze Frage noch, klappt die Einstellung auch beim oled B9 ?
This was helpful, thank you! In guilty gear strive, hgig makes the picture very dark. Is the best solution to play with dynamic tone mapping on then?
Yes, HGIG only helps to calibrate HDR for the PS5.
What do you use for Black Level in your TV's settings? Auto, low, or high?
How many clicks for the Samsung q90t?
Hi, I have a Sony X950H which doesn't have HGIG and always does dynamic tonemapping. It has a peak brightness of 1150 nits. So just to confirm, I should set screens 1 & 2 at its peak brightness? (so 16 steps)
Did you figure out what setting worked best??
Hi, I also have the same question, because the sun doesn't disappear until the 27/28th click.
hello, in the end did you opt for the 16 clicks or did you make the sun disappear completely?
with my tv in the first step, with 15 clicks it doesn't disappear. in the second, yes
QN90B75 owner. HDR settings on my tv are standard, contrast enhancer off, gamma and shadow are at 0. Game HDR ON and HDR10+ GAMING set to Basic. How many clicks i have to set for best HDR on my Playstation 5?
My TV turns white with 17 touches with dynamic mapping (about 1295 nits), and with 13 touches without dynamic mapping (about 735 nits)... But the manufacturer says that the model has 330 nits. But giving it 8 touches (353 nits), it's still a long way from the square turning white. How much should I leave?
Did you find a solution?
What is the Max peak brightness of your TV?
Hi. Can you check best settings for cod warzone? For LG Oled. I am using c9
How about tone mapping ON? That's how I have it, because hgig is shite (looks dark and dull).
@@devilgames2217 I never use DTM on only HGIG because with the right settings and decent HDR games, HGIG looks best and correct!
Great vid - I have Hisense 43A7500 and online it says it's only goes to 350nits so not sure how to set it up. TV is Dolby Vision certified, but probably barely!
I did 13 clicks on my lg C2 with HGIG on and turned on DTM in my game with black stabilizer down to 5. I think it looks perfect. Dark saturated colors unbelievably pop with little black crush. My question is why not calibrate it with DTM on?
Really just 13 clicks? It took me 16 clicks till i cant see the symbol on my LG G2 on hgig as well
@@nord.blut666 oh I think that’s because it’s brighter.
@@nord.blut666 if you want to play with DTM on I guess it’s more accurate to calibrate it that way. But HGIG is the more accurate picture all around. GOW looks incredible with DTM on while calibrated with DTM on. Someone explained to me why it’s better to calibrate that way if you prefer DTM
@@joshcraft9755 nope i still prefer hgig, my eyes hurt when i turn dtm on because it just overbrighten the whole pic and in some situations hgig is even brighter
@@joshcraft9755 btw i would leave black and white stabilizer on default
I have a Samsung QN90A QLED and stuck, seems for SDR it's Real Scene Peak Brightness is
1,088 cd/m² and Peak 10% Window
1,357 cd/m².
For HDR it's Real Scene Highlight
1,810 cd/m² and Peak 10% Window
1,470 cd/m²
This is all according to Rtings, so how many clicks should I set the PS5 to? It has game HDR which is HGiG, but the suns still don't disappear until like click 30 to 31.
Try 17 or 18 clicks
@@GamingTech-RUclips Thank you so much. I love your channel
I have a question. Does apply to regular LED screens that don't have HGiG? I have a Samsung nu6080 4k TV from 2019. It's regular LED and it doesn't have HGiG.
Does this also work for LED TVs as well
Hello, thank you for taking the time to do this. I have a question I still do not understand why for the xbox we don't do any clicks up or down?
I know I'm resurrecting a 1 year old video but I really need some help. My TV is 1000nits peek brightness so I figured it would be 15 clicks for both the 1st and 2nd screens on the PS5 calibration screen. Well on the first screen, the sun doesn't fully disappear until 20 clicks but the second screen does at 15. Should I go 20/15/0 as the PS5 calibrator suggests or go 15/15/0 as the HDR guide here suggests? (Even though the sun is still showing on the 1st screen)
I’m asking the same question to myself right now ! 😂
And I can’t find any answer on the internet… I have a Samsung S95B ! But 1 step 20 clicks, and 2 step 15 clicks, so I don’t know what to do… 😅
@@Bibfive5 Yeah it would be great. I don't think @GamingTech-RUclips reads comments on older videos anymore lol
@@Lethal.Dose.of.Gaming I guess too ! 😂 for my part I put 16/16/0 clicks ! The S95B is capable of 1000 nits in game mode HGiG so I just followed the instructions on the table he gave us in that video 👍
@@Bibfive5 16 clicks is over 1000 though so I think that causes brightness bleeding in game. I did 15 clicks for 970 which is right under 1000
@@Lethal.Dose.of.Gaming hi, my TV Is a bravia xh9096 and i don't know if i set on 15 or 16 click. I read on internet that max nits It was 1000 or little more
Hello, I have an LG55UP7500, they are HDMI 2.0 earc/arc ports, should I do the same HDR procedures? or how many nits do you recommend for my screen model? Regards.
Hi, I have the LG 50un7300 and was looking for the correct setup for HDR. Just got a PS5 (my first PS ever).
Sir, how many clicks to max 350 nits? Thx
Am I the only one confused I could swear he said do the settings without the HDR TV on or off? I’ve watched it three times and I can’t understand what he saying😞
In the last black setting I have it configured as in the others, as soon as it disappears I click on it, almost what is seen is negligible, and Gran Turismo 7 looks perfect. I like the cold tone more than the hot one, in gt7 a dark car does not look good.
How many clicks with tone mapping on ?
My monitor Samsung Odyssey G5 IPS have only 470nits… what now? 10 clicks?
Why is my hdr so dim?
X90j should I calibrate the ps5 hdr with tone mapping off or leave on graduation preferred?
If I have a LG UP8770 does this still apply?
My monitor is 250 nitts? How many clicks?
Thanks for this great video.
Can you pls tell me what value should I set between 0-100 on Brighness, Contrast & Red, Green, Blue in my monitor picture settings?
I'm using Samsung Odyssey G7 QLED 27inch.
Pls help.
So for the playstation 5 hdr setting
1st screen
Max Full Frame Tone Map Luminance (MaxFFTML) : It specifies the max level of brightness the TV can display before clipping, WHEN MOST OF THE SCREEN IS REALLY BRIGHT, also called primary HDR range.
2nd white screen
-Max Tone Map Luminance (MaxTML): The same as above but for small bright windows and specular highlights. Also called Extended HDR range. It is higher than the MaxFFTML.
X90J should be 1st screen 12 clicks 631
2nd screen 14 clicks 840
On my Xbox it says my x90j full screen hdr is 650 and specular highlights are 800
What about the 3rd step, what does your Xbox recommend for the 3rd step
on my x90k , 1st screen 13 clicks , 2nd screen 16 clicks, i did it with hdr tone mapping off and after calibration , i turn it on to graduation preferred
i think x90k can reach 1200 nits
A90k? How many nits? E clicks?
Interesting what would you put for the lg c1?
Hi great video once again! Do you happen to know (or even have a rough estimate) of the nits for TCL QLED C725k? It is HDR10 - which is advertised as 1000 nits, though I know that isnt the case - have seen conflicting numbers between 450-600nits.
What about S95B?
I have a 55 inch Hisense U8G, It doesnt support HGIG. Should I still adjust my hdr with 18 steps because the U8G's peak brightness is 1500 nits?
Yes
@@GamingTech-RUclips thanks for the response, just to clarify i should start at the darkest (scroll to the bottom) and then notch upward 18 times, right?
@@RastamanOSRS that's correct. Always start from the bottom
Can someone help me, so I play on a LG 45gr95qe-b monitor and I'm confused on how I should do my calibration since everyone does it on a tv?
I'm not sure if this will get read since this is an older video, but I have a Sony X950G, which has a peak brightness of around 1100 to 1200 nits. There's no option to disable DTM. In the first screen, the sun doesn't disappear until the 28th click and disappears on the 18th click on the second screen. Should I set it to 28 clicks and let the DTM do its thing, or should I follow your chart and set the first two screens to about 16 or 17 clicks? Thanks!
Same thing I’m saying. I’m on a Q80R QLED and there’s no way this is right.
16 or 17 clicks is right! I have the same tv (xg95)
So if my samsung q80b has peak brightness is 1500 nits then step 1 and 2 will be 18 steps in HGIG mode enabled? Although the sun disappears in 17 steps on both steps and becomes barely visible in 16 steps so which is right?
@@gildoringlarion Hi,
I have the X950H which has a peak brightness 10% Window of 1,106 cd/m². Is 15 or 16 clicks is right number of clicks or 27, which is when the sun disappears?
@kefote, Hi,
Regarding " the sun doesn't disappear until the 28th click and disappears on the 18th click on the second screen" it could be related to X-Tended Dynamic Range set to 'High' in Game Mode.
If you set X-Tended Dynamic Range set to 'Off' before adjust HDR the first and second screen the sun should disappear on the 27/28th click.

Hello, I bought the XGIMI Horizon Ultra 4k projector and I'm super happy with it. However, I can't configure the HDR settings on my PS5 so that the image isn't completely overexposed. Do you have any tips? Unfortunately, I can't find any help online and the standard instructions (click until the symbols are no longer visible) don't give me any good results.
I don’t really understand what he is saying, should I TURN OFF dynamic tone mapping while calibration OR have it ON ? Can someone tell me one more time
Totally different settings on the new 2023 QN85C last one is only 1 click from darkest settings......
It’s weird because I have Sony A8H oled and at 17 or 18 logo finally disappears but I’m the chart it says that about 1300 nits or 1500 nits that’s can’t be right on my oled. I am using game mode picture setting
That's because you don't have or you don't use HGiG. DTM ON or anything else will bring you a wrong value
@@GamingTech-RUclips any advice on how I should set up hdr for a Sony oled?
@@MrNicodemus11 A8H has Dynamic Tone Mapping always ON, similar to all prior Sony oleds. Use 15 first two, 0 for last, the TV will take it from there and tone map. Sony’s DTM is still the best on market, superior to LG, so dont worry about it
