    Lloyd, the owner of the falcon, has quite a few different types of birds that have been featured in movies and the show Nova and I'm sure other shows. He and his wife love birds and keep them at their home. He trains them. By training I don't necessarily mean tricks, although he does do that, but he trains them in how to be adult bird and everything they need to know to survive since he gets them as eggs or babies. He also trains them to do things for tests for science. His goose was in a movie but I forgot the name of it. He has owls, geese, ducks, peregrine falcons, I think a crow, and bunch of other birds. Lloyd, his wife, and the birds all live in Britain somewhere. Lloyd has been raising birds since he was a teenager. He has always loved them and has high respect for them. I highly recommend watching all the different episodes of Nova that feature his birds.

    I really think all this stuff about how fast things fall is totally beside the point. A falling elephant just falls until it goes SPLASH!!! A falcon has complete control of its velocity and direction, all of which it can adjust with phenomenal precision. The real point is that the falcon is performing what it was evolved to do to the greatest peak which evolution has developed. It is not just falling, it is acting.

Also at the TX Renaissance fair, they would let these beauties fly over the heads of the crowd, from a good distance so you could feel the rush of air as they passed over, silently. Simply magnificent. Even vultures are amazingly beautiful. Saw some at Enchanted Rock. When one flew at my car, its wingspan must have been 7 feet, and it seemed to just take a step and levitate. Birds are cool.

    We don't have the most exciting bird life in the world compared to the tropics, but we've got the peregrine, and that's good enough for me...

    I had seen Peregrine Falcon demonstrations while working at an airport in Canada. They are used to scare away other birds so they don't damage the planes. I knew they could swoop fast but had no idea they could go that fast.

    I remember this show, and the peregrine falcon was nominated as the fastest creature on earth because of reaching speeds up to almost 400 kilometers per hour, outclassing the cheetah and the marlin. But I think it should be different categories, fastest runner, swimmer and so on. It`s not fair to compare a creature that dives in the air, to an animal that has to run. He said himself that the falcon is playing around, effortlessly. Can you say that a cheetah is running effortlessly? The falcon uses gravity as aid to go fast, a cheetah cannot.

    • @Skyypixelgamer
      @Skyypixelgamer 2 года назад +1

      Granted a peregrine falcon in a straight flight can reach 68 mph which is just 7 mph off from a cheetahs top speed. Other birds of prey can also achieve this speed if not faster in a horizontal flight. But yeah people using different categories should be more common even after 4 years of your comment being made.
