So I hear everybody talking about running a mini mullet, but the funny thing is the original mullet way back in the 2000s early was 26 front 24 rear and no geometry adjustment. But then again I’m a dinosaur, but that’s what we used to run way back in the day when we set our bikes up mullet.
Bottom brackets today are lower to deal with 29/29 or 29/27.5. If you go smaller wheels, the BB will drop and there is not real way to deal with that unless the frame has that option. BBs back in the day were pretty high up to begin with, so going from 26 to 24 in the rear wasnt a big deal.
There were also "69er" 26/29 mullets then too when the very first 29" wheels came onto the scene.

So stoked to see a womens field this year. They their work cut out building up a whole new section of terrain but they're gunning for some absolutely massive hits
Nowhere near as good as the men though.
Hopefully they unleash the women first because if the dudes go first nobody will tune in to watch the girls. The entertainment levels are VERY different.

I’ll never understand the incel weirdos hating on women for killing it in extreme sports. Love the progression we have seen from women in biking, skating etc in recent years. Not sure why these apparent men hate the fact that women love the same sport as us. I for one love it when women are into bikes, cars etc more than handbags and shopping. Keep killing it ladies 🤘

@@FOTB407 exactly man, they may not be as good as some of the men, but how are they meant to progress when constantly being put down by weirdos sat in their basements. Chelsea said in this she hasn't learned 360s yet which is okay as she's still smashing like a 15-20ft drop which half the weirdos would be scared to do! What they mean is its just not as exciting. Its like the WNBA. Like its great that you love basketball and get to play it for a living, but would I watch it over the NBA? No, not a chance. Love that you found something you enjoy, but the facts are that the skill level is lower. I don't enjoy watching lower skilled men either

I think a big part of it for a lot of people is that women just aren’t as entertaining to watch as the dudes. And that’s across the board in all sports. WMBA, women’s soccer, and mountain biking is no different. Is it stupid, yes. Should it not be like that, yes. But yeah, at the end of the day people want to be entertained and after watching the men, watching the women simply just isn’t as entertaining. I mean, some chick just barely landed the first ever 900 in a vert ramp. Tony Hawk pulled that shiz off like 23 years ago. That’s how far behind women are than men in sports.

Pretty amazing that these basically stock bikes are sending at Rampage. Bikes have come a long way since I bought my 1st dual suspension in 2019.
2019?! Dude, bag a ride on an early 2000's Kona Stinky or an Orange 223. The geometry on those was like a modern XC bike, and freeride in those days was arguably even wilder than today. No "building a line", no dig teams, just ripping on natural gnar & HUGE hucks. 💪🏻

I love to see women pushing the limits in this sport and getting the attention they deserve. Pretty stoked to watch the ladies event tonight with my friends.
I don't like however, that the boys are barely getting any coverage on Pinkbike. It seems like a weird editorial choice. I hope we get some videos from BTS after the women event went down.

Where have you been bro? Carson Storch as just one eg has run SR Suntour for like 6 years or so. So does Sam Reynolds, so did Tracey Hannah (legendary UCI DH WC racer). Have a look at Darkfest, Fest Series, & UCI DH World Cups, & Hardline, & you'll see quite a few more SR Suntour RUX than you might realise.. Just like Tektro make really shitty OEM brakes, but they also make TRP. Not every SR Suntour is a shitty OEM fork..

Yup. All wheel sizes and combos are valid. Except maybe smaller wheels in the front...
As a small rider I've never loved having a 29" wheel! Its just awkward to use and I perfer smaller diameters even if that means going a bit slower! Bigger wheels just ain't fun for us little folks😂
