2:40 If you go back to when Edward and Major Armstrong went out to the ruins of Xerxes, they talked about the Xingese story of the Eastern Sage and the Amestrian story of the Western Sage, wanderers who taught their respective peoples about Alkahestry/Alchemy. By now, we can start to see that the Eastern Sage was Hoenheim, traveling away from Xerxes after the nation's destruction, while the Western Sage was Father, venturing out to found the nation of Amestris.
The Chimera Bros are such fun additions.. they aren't bad guys, just on the wrong side clearly. What could have been minor characters in other shows are characters that have well.. personality and character in this one. Which is awesome
This. Also Ed didn't heal himself completely because he doesn't know how to do that. He already used himself as a stone, that's not an issue, the issue is he doesn't really know much medical alchemy
they are kind of falling out of the immersion of the story so i can understand why that wouldn't be something that pops into their head or something for them to care about even tho that is an integral part of Ed's character.
Even if Ed did have the Philosopher's Stone when he needed it, he probably wouldn't have used it. They already agreed not to use a stone to restore their own bodies, and given how stubborn Ed is, I'd bet he wouldn't want to use one at all if there was any other option available.
@@Stenbeck-lu2rw yea but this is like the tail end of the arc and its an episode where the main character just got impaled by a steel beam and made friends with 2 chimeras that were just trying to kill him. but i guess if the arc as a whole killed the momentum for them i can see why this episode isnt as impactful as it should be.
Finding the Pholsopher's Stone before the healing wouldn't have changed anything. Remember, Ed and Al see them as pure evil because they are made with human lives. So they see using a Philosopher's Stone for themselves as using the lives of others for personal gain, which is why Xingese Alkahestry is their new best bet to get their bodies back.
Ive had some shrapnel in my back from a car wreck, but I couldnt imagine having an I-beam straight through my left side...not to mention have it pulled then "heal" the wound. Unreal 😮
The scene with Ed removing the spike, Arakawa used her experience with childbirth to influence writing that scene
That's amazing, what an incredible writer! (also can you comment your source for this? I'd love to see/read whatever interview this is from)
That's Cringe

That's one of the great strengths of this show. Pretty much every character introduced, good or bad, has a distinct personality.
Do you really think Ed would use the stone? Even to save his own life?

He technically has, to be fair. Or rather, Envy's stone. In that case, though, it wasn't just for him.
Yeah they really don't get his character it seems
Aura comes from the sheen of gold. Aurum is Latin for gold.
Came here to say this! Also worth noting that this is why gold is Au on the periodic table, for those who didn't know

you can tell they are kind of the verge of being bored if they arent already 😂
The Briggs arch is kinda boring

If you think what happened to Ed in this episode was messed up, watch what happens to him in episode 50 of the 2003 series, it’s way worse
Bruh. It's been 20 years. I'm still shook
I'm upset you guys didn't get more of a kick out of the soldier faking being Alphonse saying 'hold on brother'.
