Was fun hitchhiking the west coast- free clinics- outdoor jams- Was honored to be with Sir Sonny- Eric- all the musicians- roadies- groupies fun before- during- after show gatherings- violence was Raw- Theifs kinda- no brown acid- we all gathered to enjoy+ explore many colors 🎉 Thanks to the Music World Were Alice had more Than Tea Partys Boogie On. This is the first time I've heard this and it reinforces my belief in how special these times were. I was teenager during these times, and my first awareness of Eric Burdon was "House of the Rising Sun" by Woody Guthrie. These recordings show that there were so many wonderful layers of the blues ock onion to peel back and explore. Thanks for finding and posting. I will also check out your channel.
My goodness, what sound quality in that reel to reel. Its more live than life. Two musical moments made me transcendent, a Roland Kirk solo in Leeds Uni and 14 year old me beneath Alan Prices shaking on wooden stage floor organ in Weston Super Mare Winter Gardens.
Sadly not, the Winter Gardens were part of a well-worn pop circuit in the 60s. I saw Dave Dee Dozy Beakey and Titch the week preceding. They played a 20 minute set, the Animals did nearly two hours. I saw both the Stones and Beatles in WS Mare the same year I think, again around 20 min sets. Apart from the rawness and electricity of their sound, the other thing was the long format allowing the music to wash over and change you at length.
If you read one of the Animals biogs they mention their few live recordings of this period exist merely by the happenstance of one of their team having a newly produced portable reel to reel recorder.
Mick Gallagher? Well it was Alan Price. You asking the question led me to reading the Wiki and sure nuff Mick is cited as keyboards in 65. What do you know?
After returning from this tour, Rice Miller said, "They wanted to play the blues real bad, and they did." In comparing this and the Yardbirds (who were for a while my favorite and most highly esteemed band), I think he was talking about the Yardbirds. The energy and playing here are pretty great.
Wow, when you compare the early animals to the very early Grateful Dead, it’s no contest with Eric Burden and company. The Dead started getting really good around 1967, but before that Pig Pen couldn’t hold a candle to Alan Price.

@@crazypainter56 That is pretty much it. It didn't end well for the crooked manager as he died in a plane crash. But Price could have made amends years later and refused. That kind of shit sours lives. There are some very ripe Eric quotes refering to him and I completely understand why. I heard an interview on here with Hilton a few years ago. The interviewer mentioned that Price had discovered him and asked him to join the band. Hilton was a mild well-spoken man but his hackles were raised at that. He clearly was well tired of Price re-imagining history to suit. He snapped 'I don't know where you could have got that from...(and it was obvious where he thought the source was) . then he said it was Chas Chandler who asked him to join the group.

In the middle of "Boom Boom," the kids are singing back. It might be "Forty Days" or it might be "Night and Day." Gosh they were nutz back then, does anyone know?
O what i hade lik to be there but I vas far to young , I was born 1956 but The original Animals ist for me The best band ever and Eric the best singer love them
@@mandoprince1 Yeo, I've had it on an album for years, but it only has the tracks with Sonny Boy. His album with The Yardbirds is smoother sounding, but this one is crackling with energy - Sonny Boy's even inspired to do a bit of Jimmy Reed style high note playing on My Babe, and I've never heard him do that on anything else!
Animals super. Благодарю вас за трансляцию хорошего концерта и редких записей.

Wonder if it was recorded - would love to see more of those older concerts - thanks for the info

Nor Pig hold a vocal "candle" to Eric Burdon. But Jerry and Phil, Bob and Billy, that's another story entirely.
Alan Price is kicking ass on the vox continental
The rest of them is on fire too
I wonder if the idea of stealing the rights to the arrangements was crossing his mind...He was one greedy b'stad.

Has this ever had an official release? I ask because I have never heard of this recording, and I've certainly never heard it.
Part of it was released as The Animals & Sonny Boy Williamson Newcastle - on - Tyne, December 1963😎

The part with animals only and the part with animals and sonny boy Williamson had been released on two different vinyls
First tune sounds like Go Johnny go.

They backed him better than Clapton...
Yes and it fells as Eric is ready to explod of joy i love it
