This is pretty awesome. I don't know the story behind it but its from a European performance, looks like a TV show called JAZZPRISMA. Go buy their music!
Memphis Slim was my introduction to piano boogie woogie blues in the late 70's. Sonny Buy Williamson is one of my favorite all time harmonica players up there with Big Walter and Snooky Pryor.
Slim is so unarguably cool. His piano stylings are delicious, somehow both down-home earthy and big city sophisticated. Matt "Guitar" Murphy is a brilliant soloist and accompanist. His riffs and licks are jewels of precision and invention.
Matt Murphy was a pretty sophistcated guitar player. It is worthwhile taking a closer look at his style. He and Memphis Slim complement each other beautifully.
Was thinking the same thing. Matt did not play predictably at all. He was very versatile and also had a lot of country in his playing. A good pairing, because Memphis Slim was not straight down the line, either.
I caught M.T. at a bar in Atlanta during the early '90s. Someone mentioned it was their friend's birthday that night. In an utterly casual, jaw-droppingly musical instant, he began playing "Happy Birthday" with "The Old Gray Mare She Ain' What She Used to Be" as counter melody. Matt Murphy said Sonny Boy Williamson was a "righteous dude"
My gosh these cats are straight-up getting it..... sorry people but these are the real guys , and actually I don't have to listen too much any of the newer stuff cuz I never get tired of the Originals. Oh yes there are some fantastic musicians today but nothing like the original cats...
I used to watch this set on another RUclips video that seems to be removed. Very glad to have stumbled across it again. Thanks for the upload. What a great concert!
This second generation bluesman Toured n lived in europe for years thru the folk boom Hes a legend in fact they both are... Thats not sonny boy playn guitar thats the great matt murphy. But im sure yall knew this. Sonny playn harp on the last performance
He'd crap his pants if he knew he'd be getting watched on a phone that you hold in your hand on an app called "youtube" by 15 bikers getting drunk and smoking buds watching it via blue tooth with a 70-inch tv that hangs on the wall.
lol "..hey Slim, say hello to your biker audience in papua new guinea.." (or any other outpost-ish place on earth with signal and housing a bikerscene, pfew)
I've got the complete footage of this Belgium TV show about the blues. Better quality, both in video as in sound. But... I don't dare to upload it to YT, because of possible rights and the punishment of being expelled from YT :-(
@ 19:38 Would have loved to seen Alex Miller aka Sir Sonny Boy Williams ll in person!!! Guess I’m pretty darn lucky to be able to see him any time I wanna! Thanks YT!I I I bet Led Zeppelin and the Animals thought that they had died and gone to blues heaven having been given the opportunity to record with Sonny Boy! Anyhow thanks for posting!

He played solo in a basement bar in the Latin Quarter of Paris in January 1974.
I like the way he plays the bass parts on the piano.
Matt "guitar" Murphy, a future "Blues Brother."

Breaks my heart young generations these days don't know who Matt Guitar Murphy is.
Saw Memphis Slim and Willie Dixon at Carnegie Hall with Pete Seeger....a long time ago.
the credits are either dutch or german but the gig is 100% blues and so cool. Great upload. Thanks.
Otis Spann was my favorite blues piano player but Memphis Slim sure could play a mean keyboard.
My gosh these cats are straight-up getting it..... sorry people but these are the real guys , and actually I don't have to listen too much any of the newer stuff cuz I never get tired of the Originals. Oh yes there are some fantastic musicians today but nothing like the original cats...
This is real music. The black musicians taught the Blues to the white musicians, that´s right.
Matt Guitar Murphy was my last interview . When we met , he wanted to arm-wrestle. He was 84 at the time.
encore une très bonne composition de Blues j'adore

Interesting to see Memphis Slim with Matt Murphy. He played regularly with Mickey Baker (of the jazz guitar book) in Paris.
Yeah he was in the blues brothers matt when he was a young

Sonny boy.. pure music talent. R.I.P

Ron Howard’s brother first table drinking and smoking. Seriously great performance. No sign of sonny boy. Matt’s phenomenal guitar playing.
Isnt a hammond with Sonny 2?
Very misleading title. Sonny Boy Williamson is on for half a song, right at the end.
Just a few seconds of SBWII at the end.
Yeah, I've got the whole show, but YT will punish me when I upload that footage :-(
40 seconds of sonny boy williamson at the end.. not even sure if its the same show.
FODA !!!!!
