    I'm so glad you enjoyed Emily Wilde! It's most definitely NOT a romantasy; it's just a fantasy with a romantic subplot. You've just gotten me hyped to read Diving Rivals either in this month or next month.

      Exactly what I was thinking! I really went in expecting a romantasy, but still loved it nonetheless. Hope you’ll love divine rivals!

    Emily Wilde (1 and 2) are my absolute favourite books ever, I can't wait for the third but I wouldn't call it romantasy because the romance, while being a big part of the novel, isn't central to the plot I'd say but either way, absolutely couldn't love them more 🍄

    while reading emily wilde’s encyclopedia of faeries I also thought that wendell bambleby has howl vibes (book howl!). he’s super annoying at the beginning and the bickering also reminded me of hmc. despite the similarities I think emily wilde’s encyclopedia of faeries is still unique and a comfy winter read 🧚🏻

    I just finished reading The Gilded Crown by Marianne Gordon. It's about a woman who can bring people back from the dead, and the princess that she must protect, no matter the cost (fantasy with slow burn sapphic romance). And that museum looks so stunning! Love the new haircut too!

    Lovely video, as always! I picked up Divine Rivals as an ebook from my local library, didn't vibe with the first chapter and then just gave it up to someone in queue really wanting to read it, thinking I'm finally over YA. But watching this I think I should give it another shot! The other day I read "Thornhedge" which is this really beautiful short story by T. Kingfisher, using one of your mushroom bookmarks. It fit really well and kind of enhanced my reading experience that way.

    So I have been on the fence reading Divine Rivals and your video has convinced me that I need to read it. So thank you for that little push.

    Awww, I'm so happy you enjoyed Divine Rivals so much! 🥰 I loved it, too! I'm currently reading Ruthless Vows but I'm only on page 29. I read a different book inbetween and so picking up the sequel felt like coming home to a beloved world. I have no idea what will happen, but I hope so hard Sarah works at the museum now and will allow Iris to secretly use the first Alouette to contact Roman somehow.... Let' s see what Ms Ross comes up with - I can't wait to know! ☺️🍄🍄🍄❤

    To me Romantasy is when the main point of the book IS the romance and just happens to be in a fantasy setting, whereas a fantasy book that has a main central conflict that doesn't rely on the romance but just happens to be there too i would just class it as fantasy with romance elements. main difference to me is whether or not you remove the romance from the book does it completely change the plot? if yes then its romantasy. if you remove the romance from the book and it changes nothing to the main plot its not a romantasy (in my opinion anyway)

    I LOVE both of these books! Iris and Roman and their magical typewriters (swoon). And Emily and Wendell with their banter; how did you like the journal entry that was written by Wendell (I thought it was hilarious)? You were spot on saying that there relationship is like the one in "Bones" :) The 2nd book in the Emily Wilde series is more romantic than the first one, but I actually liked that they have a slow burn romance (most books move far to fast with the romantic angle). I also read the 2nd Divine Rivals book - it was still good, but not as good as the first one; there was a lot more focus on the gods... and they were not very godworthy (you'll see what I mean). Congratulations on becoming a full time freelancer as well - that is amazing! Your illustrations have the same vibe as the covers for the Emily Wilde books - they are really beautiful.

I’m currently reading Must Love Books ❤ I liked Emily Wilde too and thought there would be more of a romance since people kind of hype that part up, but I’m looking forward to the sequel! 🍄 congrats on being able to go full time with your creative jobs that’s amazing!!🎉❤

  • @kiandrarodgers3436
    @kiandrarodgers3436 9 месяцев назад

    My understanding of 'romantasy' is that it is a book where the romance is the driving force of the story with fantasy elements - and if the romance was removed from the story, there wouldn't be a plot. Emily Wilde kind of exists on the cusp of that I'd say, because the story could function without the romance as a light academia, but the romance definitely adds something integral that you wouldn't want to see it removed. So... ultimately this comment is unhelpful cause I really don't have an answer lol
