  • Earthcruiser has released its most advanced expedition model based on the Mercedes-Benz Unimog U430. With 300hp of German engineering to carry the Earthcruiser Explorer XPR440, the combination of these two leading manufacturers has produced a level of exploration superiority that can literally take a family to experience the tour of a lifetime, and bring them back safely to civilisation.
    Proven in use by Defence Forces throughout the world, the Mercedes-Benz Unimog features Vario-pilot, permitting a change between left and right hand drive, moving the steering wheel and pedals in under 10 minutes, meaning you have ultimate safety, vision and control no matter where your journey takes you. With a fuel range of up to 3500 km, the Unimog Earthcruiser is available with manual or automated manual transmissions. When negotiating severe off road tracks the approach, departure and ramp over angles give Explorer XPR440 amazing access.
    The Earthcruiser Explorer is a purpose built 4x4 all-terrain Expedition Motorhome, with chassis-mounted tank capacity for 950 litres of water and 800 litres of fuel. Dependent on the intended severity of the terrain, weatherproof options are available to cater for extreme cold (-40degreesC) in Arctic conditions as well as extreme heat.

    I’ve followed/watched a number of Mog sites focusing on those building from scratch. Not taking anything away from what all these adventurers have achieved, this is without a doubt the most incredible Mog fit out I’ve ever seen. Not only that, you have a number of ‘manual’ backups in case electronics fail….and so few people do this. This is built for Oz conditions and the level of day-to-day practicality is amazing. Designed by someone who knows what it’s like to camp day in and day out. Just stunning. You should be proud.

    SNOW, This rig U430 can handle snow trails wet and dry all day, not winch necessary, leaps and bounds capable. Hopefully, they can address this in future videos: Us, snow-storm hunters, know that A sustained cold front is a force of nature to be reckoned with...some fellows do not make it. even fire runs away from it. U can always lower the top to circle the heat better in case of a suden extreme drop in temp. My concern would be the cabs, they are not that well insulated from factory, the hoses, water valves etc, special windshield wiper fluid etc,...DO NOT KNOW if box built on a metal frame, wich is great, but it is a pain in very cold environment due to the metal cold transfer and more....

    • @earthcruiseraustralia1823
      @earthcruiseraustralia1823  2 года назад +1

      The U430 has a narrower track than the U530, allowing it to fit into containers more easily. The more important fact is when you order UNIMOG you can spec what thickness Chassis and what Suspension you require, the U430 has better options to achieve our 12t requirement (the U530 can't be "turned" down enough)

    #1 on my dream list. The UGE is more my kind of thing with my home on the back. I'd hate to see the state of things in the back rock hopping in one. Is this sitting on 2350 rpm at 100 or does it have the higher speed axles bringing it down to 1900 to get those fuel returns? My cruiser towing a small camper uses 18's at that speed so amazing stuff really.

    You make Aussies prowed. Just a quick question, this bike looks like it is sitting more than 60% rule. Is that because it is removable item this rule doesn't apply?

    • @earthcruiseraustralia1823
      @earthcruiseraustralia1823  3 года назад +3

      Yes it is over the 60% overhang rule and therefore it enters a grey area, as it is removable some states allow it others will fine you. So then the customers play the numbers game, have it for 10 years get fined twice $500 = $500 divided by 10 years = $50 per year to have a bike rack (not actual figures and I am not suggesting you break the law). Not a perfect solution but as the customers don't have the bike/s on all the time, that makes it workable. Also some states view Registered Motorbikes differently to Push Bikes and to add to the situation it depends on the Police Officer or Scale Officers

    Too much onboard electronics, in my opinion. After more than 20 long journeys around the world, I learned it's very hard to get electronics support in many parts of Asia, Africa and South America. That's why I prefer easier solutions, an engine not controlled by electronics, no touch screen but electric high quality switches, less electric devices (no electric stairs, for example, but manual) . Less devices = less chance of failure, less maintenance and easier.

    Presumably this rig would fit in a standard sized shipping container....?

    • @earthcruiseraustralia1823

      110km in any direction including straight up. It uses 19lt per 100km on the Highway and Off-road depends. We fit a larger ad-blue tank which needs filling every 10,000km (Hwy use). It will fit in a High Cube Shipping container once it is dropped onto its container rims
