I always thought it was a huge plot hole that these things went around with nuclear reactors and there was never an accident, a meltdown, or a just whole battlefields taken out by just shooting one of them.
Me and my friends chalked it up to having something to do with the monoskei particles. Like under the right circumstances maybe the particles can act like a safety measure in the reactors to prevent total meltdown or explosion. Regardless of the real reason it was all for fun
Nuclear weapons need to be detonated a specific way to cause a nuclear blast. There can definitely be radiation leaks but there's a reason meltdowns are never nuclear blasts. I'm assuming the fission reactors have special protective features, at least enough you can suspend your disbelief (we are dealing with mech suits here after all, it's not really realistic.)

The region the 8th MS Team is operating in is more likely to be the jungles of Burma and the southern Tibet region of China which is mountainous and has a semi desert terrain.
When it comes to that desert area, I think what a lot of fans are forgetting is that when that space Colony fell, it completely changed the climate and weather in certain areas on the Earth. So Cambodia, finger quotes, and many other locations around the world would have suffered from desertfication Due drastic climate change due to that fallen colony

This is the only Gundam anime where the romance was well executed.
Romance in other Gundam series was laughably bad.
