  • In 1969, an amateur sailor, Donald Crowhurst, was competing in the Sunday Times Golden Globe Race, when things quickly spiraled out of control.
Furiously scratching away in his journal, he would try and make sense of the events that had unfolded during the last few years of his life.
What was to come of the race and the ambitious businessman from Bridgwater, perplexed the world then, and continues to leave people scratching their heads to this day.

Even though he lied he did not deserve this. What poor man. I feel so bad for his wife and kids.

I felt the exact same way while I was researching his story. He was painted into a corner that, along with being alone on the sea for mo the, drove him understandably mad. His poor family

I agree. Donald Crowhurst definitely did not deserve his fate. The poor man lost his mind. The moral of the story is: don’t mortgage your family’s home.

I think everyone should seek their own breaking point in life threating situations at least once a year, preferably in april or may.

What happened to this channel? The content is really good. Can’t imagine what this man went through. He’s not the horrible person some people make him out to be.

What a great human being Robin Knox Johnston was to donate his pride money to the poor Crowhurst family

His ending was tragic, but surely, it was heroic. In the end, he was just trying not to lose everything.

The winner of the race donated the prize money to Crowhurst’s family to keep them from losing their home.
