Worst thing is they don't make them anymore.
100% brutha!
1000% agree!!
I got lucky when I bought my 93. It was only 8yrs old and the body was in great shape. I got it painted in 2010 and keep it in a garage now.
@@twinturbotony93
Do you drive it?
I thought i was the only one who used my emergency brake as a cupholder
Thats O.G brutha!
I have for about 10 years and managed to only have minor spills lol. Gotta love the foxbodys
Oh c'mon we all do that!
I think LMR offers consoles w/cupholders
Nothing...🤔 Foxbody’s are perfect 😎 lol great video brother 👍👍
RUN. CHANNEL. MOLDINGS. 😜😜
Hahaha yes sir, they are! Thanks again, and keep doing what you do!
BREW2L I’ve been trying to think of something I don’t like.....can’t think of anything!! 🤣🤣
the door handles break, and the seats start to lean inward .
Yes sir, they always do
Got done restoring a crap load on mine after years windshield starter tires breaks plugs wires. Some body work, Everything, I finish go to get in go for a ride finally and the good old door handle snapped off lol
The stock 2.73s
The exhaust on my fox body is too loud to hear the rattles and squeaks lmfao
Heard that, flowmaster 40s on an h pipe bbk long tubes. Can't hear myself scream
Crowds LOL you got to love that one he killed it. Man I've been thinking about getting a Foxbody for so long I currently own a Terminator and every time a Foxbody passed by I still trust my neck just to be able to see it. Thank you for taking the time and making all these videos bro really appreciate your hard work.
Thanks so much bud, and regardless of what other stands you own, a fox is definitely on the "must own" list
My top 5. 1. waterpump replacement- anyone that has done one knows what I speak of. 2. Headlight/foglight switch- Can you say Fire Hazard? 3. 2G alternator- can't keep up with a stock Fox Body and again can you say FIRE HAZARD. 4. Rear main seal- wi if your fox body rear main seal is not leaking, it will. 5. Prices on parts- when did a Cobra intake become $400? an EEC $300? Quarter windows $300? Clock Springs, foglights, OEM trim,, etc,,,. These cars used to be cheap to own...
oh and 6. FRIKKING T TOP leaks. Now matter how hard I adjust mine and with all new weather stripping....... leaks like a colander
Nailed it brutha, guessing you've owned atleast ten!
I agree with weak charging system and rear main. Push rod 302 that doesn't leak oil, unless it's fresh rebuild, they are waiting to leak.
Water pump, not much worse than any other '70-'80s car. Headlight switch- add relays and use the original wires as trigger wires. Added benifit of much brighter headlights. 2G alternator - swap to a 3G. I did a 3G conversion in a half an hour with a 130A alternator from a '95. Rear main, i used a modern piece from an Explorer, no leaks yet. Prices- yep. They are getting collectable, so not cheap any more.
OBD 1 with crispy wiring
Gangsta lean on the drivers seat! 🤣🤣🤣
Crap! Thats a good one, good call Joey
The headlights! Having to replace them every couple of years because they get yellowed over or water in them!
David Fellers drill a hole on the bottom on the plastic to release the water
The gangster lean driver's seat when the seat frame breaks..
All of these fords for the 80s and 90s bad for the seat frames breaking
My 87 MGM Panther 5.0 bought it with a broke seat track and the frame is broke so I have the Gangster lean also 👍🕶
Not really a hated item, but after about 6 months of ownership, you’ve already studied every schematic and know exactly how every system works because you’ve had to troubleshoot the gremlins. Just part of living the Fox life!
I personally love the GT seats...the shifter is perfect and I’ve owned 10 and had no squeaks and rattles I could remember.
Fox Mustang Restoration has THE only true Coupe quarter window restoration on the market. They completely replace the original rubber and can polish the glass as well.
I think they’re doing the same thing for the hatchbacks as well now..
Fixing all loose grounds and vacuum leaks.
Had to do that a few times, mostly with old vacuum lines
1. Ashtray door spring breaks
2. Gangsta seat lean
3. Rear bumper plastic droops
4. Brakes suck
5. Four bolt rims
6. On 87 and up, the speaker grill let go of the door panel and you had to put a screw through the existing one to hold the top in place.
7. Long throw rubber bushing isolated factory shifter is too hard to row quickly.
8. Factory clutch quadrant sucks
9. IAC solenoid carbons up too easily.
10. Factory door will moulding doesn't really line up or hold the carpet down nicely. Over the years, it warps into a roller coaster for your hot wheels toy cars...until the screw lands tear through.
There was a company back in the day that made a plastic moulding that went over the deteriorating rear sail panel/window trim.
Convertible rear window motors and convertible window tracks
Killed it man. Even though I was there. The crowds comment still made me laugh. Leave it up to Cody lol!
Aww come on, they are in their late twenties and thirties the imperfections give them character!!
100% agree bud, thats what make them a fox!
Bought my first fox brand new in 85 gt door handles were broke by 87 traded it in on a 92 lx 5.0 notch back agin brand new door handles were broke with in 3 years plus the ash try thing.
@@steveblakley5285 What the hell were you doing to break the door handles? Mine are just fine!
@@JRC99 really? iv had a shit tone of foxes and the fucking out side door handles are always broke. please tell me its not just me. they dont fall off u just got to push in and up for them to work. its so common that me and the guys hear at the shop have a joke about u can tell a real fox guy calls u dont have to show him how to open the fucking door lol
This video was on point! Seats are not too bad. I don’t like not having as much support for my head with those headrests.
Thanks brutha
I’am fixing the number 4 issue on my fox brake upgrade 👍. I have a few videos up on my build.
Squeaks and rattles fir sure! Awesome two tone Gt!
Thats Chris's '92, he kills me every time I see it
In terms of the like 79-85 fox, got a whole set of different complaints like the headlight switch that busts my knee cap everytime lol
One annoying area is the placement of the clutch pedal, brake pedal, and gas pedal. They are way to close together. There were times when I was pressing the brake and clutch at the same time.
I'd say how they handled in the rain was My Least favorite.
They basically didnt lol
I don't know why this is always brought up. I don't think they are good, but they aren't atrocious if you aren't pushing them. Maybe its just because I put modern tires on mine when I got it 3 years ago.
Good points... Mine is water that doesn't run down by the hatch area
Nice Twilight Blue Fox!!!
Bought my FB when it was around 2 years old. The metal piece in the seat bugged me so I always had a cushion in the seat. Still do. The ashtray and lack of cup holders, hate HATE HATE this one. The little plasticky piece under the throttle body( i forgot the name of it) that ruined my transmission. That really pissssssed me off and still does every time I think of this bright idea by Ford. I was lucky though, my brother knew a guy who was learning to rebuild auto transmissions and he did it for 400 bucks. 8 years later and it still works. Faded paint. The paint on my car was/is terrible. The rattles, I never notice them cuz I listen to the stereo while driving.
Yup, they were a long way from perfect
that would be the Throttle valve or Tv cable. if aint right go ahead and start looking another tranny.
That damn cowl grill, and trying to keep the cowl area underneath clean.
I love foxies too, but my most hated part is the always leaky sunroof. Love them foxies though!
I minimized the rattles by lubricating with grease every single bushing or rubber parts from the suspension front and rear , including the springs.
I put the aftermarket quarter glass in mine. So far they still look good. Downside is the rubber is alot thinner than factory.
Are they holding up pretty well?
So far they are. I've had them a few years. I have the Scott drake ones. My car has been garage kept for most of the time I've had the windows.
Agreed on the first 4 point except the last one. I love the squeaks, it's a MUSTANG. it's not supposed to be quiet or comfortable
the head light switch. the instrument panel switch. Metal is thin and will start to rip where the rear lower control arms bolt.
You can get the "Mustang" decals on e-bay for the 1/4 windows if they are aftermarket
Repaired my quarter windows with high build primer. They were absolutely dry rotted. I used the SEM trim paint and they turned out phenomenal. They've only been done for a couple months so I don't know about the longevity of the fix. But shit, they sure look good.
Yeah I'm buying the cup holder center piece they sell online for mine its a necessity
Team vision racing over in little town belle plaine kansas has the nicest refurbished quarter windows hands down. I definitely suggest giving them a look.
I need to check them out, got a link?

TVR is a wonderful place for Foxbody owners!
Squeaks and rattles? I just bought my first fox body last Tuesday and I am amazed at the fact mine is so quiet. So I'm not sure what you are talking about? 88 lx 4 cyl car with a 460 BBC c6 trans.
Squeeks and rattles?! Did you ever ride in a 3rd gen Crapmaro? They make a Fox sound like a luxury car.
I helped my cousin do a body swap on his 90 convertible. With rebuilds on the engine and trans the body made it close to 400k miles on it. We jacked it up on stands "on their highest setting mind you" to start swapping things out. When i lowered the car onto the stands the body proceeded to flex so badly the tires were nearly touching the ground again. The doors were also wedged shut while on the stands so that was a pain in the ass. #6 Worn Out Sloppy Body Convertibles... Lol
Holy crap lol, did he have rusty floor pans? Lol
You take a curve to fast you might fall out the seat. 😀😀😁😁😂 that was funny as hell. Great video Bro
On the subject of front brakes, the caliper pistons themselves aren’t even large enough. I think they’re stock 67mm (correct me if I’m wrong). Either way, make sure you have enough stopping distance when romping on it
You hit nail right on the head !
What size drums and rotors should I get for my 89 mustang gt?
What’s the best deal to replace quarter windows?
I'm going to look at a 85 foxbody. the guy hit a curb while doing a burnout in it. He says an axle mount needs rewelded to the frame. other than that its in great shape! do you think it's worth getting and rewelding the mount? thanks! it's a 5.0 5 speed GT
airbag steering wheel drives me nuts with those 2 little horn buttons...may swap it for an 87 to 89 steering wheel. also hated those tension rods that kept my trunk up when they didnt pop out of place that is . replaced them with an aftermarket hydraulic lift kit. much better.
The steering wheel is not centered with the seat. It is about 3 inches to the right - causes the driver to "gangsta lean" - hence the broken driver seats and ashtray doors.
I have owned three Mustangs...an '86/'90 GT's and an '87 lx notch. I currently own an ECS-SC600 equipped 2004 Z06 and badly want a triple white GT Convertible.
Just got a 93 lx with a4ld transmission. Already going bad. Replacing it with the t-5. Hate that transmission.
what about that titanium frost paint at the bottom it chipped like every minute and there was yellow underneath you had to have it repainted every month lol
Ok, the MILLION DOLLAR question, and this one is for Chris.
The center caps on them 95 Cobra R's...are they stickers, or caps?
I hate using stickers and yours look great! Please let me know, PLEASE!
What about the wonderful heatercore replacement 🤔
These pretty much all apply to four eyes, too. The consoles in the 84-86 models are really brittle and flimsy and the "elbow box" breaks on all of them eventually, and of course you get no cupholders. The brakes are somehow even worse with 10 inch rotors. Same as the 87-93 4 cyl - awful! One of the best upgrades I did was Aerospace street fronts. The great thing about that kit is that it bolts right up to 79-86/4 cyl spindles. V8 87-93 spindles are oddly expensive used here in Massachusetts.
I think the seats actually got a little worse with the Aero Foxbody cars. The 84-86 sport seats are a little nicer and seem to wear in the seat area a little less - at least for my 215 lb ass. They still develop the gangsta lean, though.
I really need a four eye to do, unfortunately I don't have one yet. I am planning to hunt for one after the coyote swap is over.
Foxcast Media i love the four eye I own two 1986 black one with Gray interior and the other maroon interior and surprisingly the seats don’t lean on one of them.
Getting hard to find good parts! Almost as bad as my gen 1 lightning. Traders going to the new 5.0. Been looking for heads and cam passenger side mirror among other things for a wile now with no luck... or AZ just sucks now.
My interior also rattles and makes a bit of noise but I have a 1990 Ford Taurus.
no one makes replacement OEM seats for my 84 1/4 gt350 . every company list 83-86 as the same, they are not. I just need driver side seat material that matches originals.
It might have been said already outer door handles breaking power side mirror control switch
I really like this car. Can it be Bought?
I consider lack of cup holders my number 1.
Theirs a company you can send your original quarter windows to and they Use the factory molding and put a better quality rubber and completely restore them it’s $300 per quarter window
Yes sir, but I have heard some stories about them not holding up over the years. Guess it depends on who you use
I have a few different opinions. In no particular order. Heater cores that pop. If your shopping for a fox and the heat cores been looped off. Just a popped core. My first experience with one was on my 88GT. It's like October late at night. Go to do a heater through an intersection and mid smoke show POOF! Sweat steam fogged the windshield. Second thing would be some cars have no rear defrost. To me in the rain these car fog up bad, just a pain in the a$$. Third, 302s leak oil. Speed sleeve the rear main seal surface and your good for a bit. Forth would be ecu grounded fuel pump relay. Lost a ecu to this and at 17yrs old I was jumping my fuel pump relay to get to work, school and just around. Fifth would be strut towers and frame rails that rot. Just such a key area in the car and it can break these things. Go from having a decent ride to something that needs major man hours to fix. Guess mine are just stupid repairs not quirks. FmL rant over
would it help to install LSD?
+BLSMUSTANGS Cup holders but your video with LMR console dual cup holders was great.
hate nothing about mine . but i do hate a alll stock fox with a gigantic cowl hood
Faded red interiors, armrest in the middle broken
The red was bad enough, then they faded! lol
@@FoxcastMedia yup, mine are faded across the backs, even the plastics and vinyl fade in Alabama sun
My 1986 SSP had totally inadequate front brakes. The poor officers that had to chase someone in one of these had to be worried if they could stop in time for any incident!
'86 brakes are truly awful. You have fuel injected 5.0 torque and Ford kept those awful 10" pie pans up front to stop it? In '87 they upgraded to a slightly better 11" rotor, which still isn't enough.
Hi i need some help ... I removed my injectors and one had a broken plastic pintle cap and half of it dropped in the lower intake ( probably in the engine ) i didnt remove my lower intake yet but i'm pretty sure it cant be in it . So if it dropped in the engine should i run it like that ?
Definitely dont run it like that, can you pop off the upper intake and take a look?
Where are you located in Ga
Try going up James St in Seattle and have your back seat frame bust out. My ass slid off the peddles lucky I grabbed the hand brake before rolling back into the car behind me. I've had 4, the notches rattle less in the interior.
Holy shit lol
The seats do suck a lot but I wanna keep the stock ones
I got a 92 gonna have to Black it all out
What car before circa 1995 had cupholders? Nearly none. That's why you had to buy those flimsy cupholders that hung on the window sill... Not a foxbody problem per see.
Now I find it weird that all cars had (multiple) ashtrays back then. If someone jumps in the back of these cars they're probably not going far, so why is there an ashtray back there?
Un carro de esos En cuanto está allá en el otro lado Por qué dan chidos gustaría un día tener uno de esos
4 lug..its on my top 5 list
seat belt - when you first put it on it's fine, until you lean forward to adjust the stereo or whatnot, then the shoulder loosens up and you have to tug on it to get it back against your body....
I actually got pulled over because of that very thing.
I velcro'd my ashtray door shut. Didn't want to take the console out to fix it so there we go. I don't smoke so screw it. My seats are fine. Brakes have never scared me.
And those quarter glass moldings suck. I would have to fix mine. Alas.
Mine doesn't have too many squeaks or rattles.
Let's not forget the factory headlights! HORRIBLE! I did an LED upgrade and they're AMAZING!!
Literally every dosen't effect the Lincoln mark vii has cup holders has better brakes and has amazing seats and doesn't really rattle or squeak
U in Jackson tenn?
Brandon Lay yep
the green dash panel just bugs the shit out of me . i would replace all the gauges with better . it looks horrible at night
🤔 Starter solenoid, hate those things
Thank you I was looking for this comment lol that is definitely the worst part of a fox better keep 4 or 5 in the glove box 😂
If you had a very nice 1987 GT Convert. like mine you wouldn't have all those dislikes and my 87 GT Concert. is for sale with only 13,224 original miles. Just think,a quiet 87GT Convert!
“Your left ass cheek” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Not to mention most AC don't work it gets hot as hell.
Sub-frame connectors eliminate squeaks, so does a 425 HP motor !
I've watched this video about 4 times just to double check mine, but I read that Ford is going to start making the quarter glass windows with the "mustang" tag in it again.
Just replace the window and put a 'Mustang' emblem on it
1-5 for me is no tilt wheel on 90-93. Who needs airbags? I hate driving my 90 because of this. I'm just gonna swap my column one day then I'll be satisfied lol
Can you do a McLaren fox body
In originally wasn't meant to stop 🙂
that car is in really nice condition
Wizard of Oz fox body frame issues need oil ?
Strut towers, creaking and rattling,
I hate the fact that the fuel door is on the passenger side of the vehicle.
I use the space between the seat and console near the seatbelt to hold my cup on the passenger side. It fits surprisingly well.
My top five are, (I don't count aging items)
1) brakes were bad
2) "soft/light steering feel)
3) 2 sperate keys for doors/hatch/trunk and ignition
4) bad instrument cluster lighting
5) key needs to be in for the 'open hatch' button the the glove compartment to work.
I think 85/86 seats aren’t that bad
I still bought one. If I can put up with my 99 ram 1500 4x4, I can deal with a foxbody no doubt 😁😁😁😁
The damn windows in my vert dont like to roll up wihout opening the doors, and the back ones need so much help its almost laughable. One of my least favorite things about the car. Jank ass windows lol
i replaced my vert rear window motors and they worked like new, usually they just need motors or guide bushings. the motors would turn and sound like they were working, but theres a plastic piece inside the motor that breaks and then the windows don't go up
@@alecberlin2792 im pretty sure thats my issue. They click like crazy and only actually go up if i help them. Thats probably my next project
Yeah the small windows on a vert are bad about that
I feel your pain. My quarters are all clickety clik right now
