They almost have no clue what the consequences of their actions will be, they're just ready to take the leap. i cant imagine how much we could accomplish if we didn't second guess our decision making and just did the thing and evaluated the result after the fact. thanks for this interview.

    I love Dr. K. He is such a light in the world with such unique and powerful past experiences. What a perfect blend of Western medicine mixed with philosophy, culture, and relevant culture.
    He isn't some woo-woo guy. There are so many gurus, salesmen, and pseudoscience-driven people out there; Dr. K touches on everything but doesn't betray his education. When he touches on Eastern medicine/philosophy, it acts as a cherry on top realizing that both act together with an entourage effect.

    Subscribed after algorithm recommended Aiden episode, this channel will obviously do really well.
    I’m no expert, but between working from home & always having RUclips on in the background my watch time is 12+ hours a day.
    If there’s one suggestion I could make, it would be to add a playlist of the episodes sorted by most popular to the main page. Makes it easy to bing episodes from smart tv’s or other devices with lacking RUclips apps, and on mobile/desktop will auto play next video. Where if I had clicked on a video normally at the end it might not auto play, and may play video from another channel.

      @@trykarat Thanks for the compliment! I really think this channel is especially binge-able considering how high quality the audio/video is from the beginning.
      As much as I love Mr. Beast I noticed he recently changed the first playlist on his channel to latest videos. I’m assuming they noticed the quality of their old/new videos is so different that watching by most popular is jarring. Also StoryMode unlisted dozens of old videos and added them to playlist specifically so people finding the channel didn’t start with the old/worse quality content. I believe y’all starting out so strong will completely avoid this issue.

    Okay but I am curious, about the "ego of having no ego" part. How do I let go of the thought that letting go will help me be more in control? Because it feels impossible

    • @Lightenin
      @Lightenin 5 месяцев назад

      Because it isn't about being in control or not. Is the motivation behind wanting to have or not have control. Then there are the actual beneficial parts of life where knowing how to control yourself when you need it, it's helpful. But It actually doesn't matter if you are in control or not all the time. In my perspective it's just a tool that comes from knowing yourself better and working on yourself. It's doesn't have to be complicated, just try what you thinks it's best for you and if it changes in the way or not, you are going to learn something new about yourself.

  • @azulceleste7202
    @azulceleste7202 8 месяцев назад +9

    This has been a bit too intense of an interview for me and right now I'm in deep thought (jokes on me, as I was trying to procrastinate).
    The goal I've set to myself and that gives meaning and direction to my life comes from my individuality. It is tied to others' well-being but it is also intimmately connected to my own self and what I "need" to be happy. I conceptualize it as materialising the love I feel into a job, but the selfish component is undoubtedly there (even if apparently redeemed by the altruistic quality of my pursuit). Right now I'm full-on focused on that path.
    However, after listening to this podcast, I can say that I think my life mission is another one. One which is less connected to my own happiness and more to others. But I really really don't want to set aside what I'm doing. And being the best at what I'm doing right now could make unable to later in life commit to what I actually think that my mission in life is (complicated, I'm not going to explain it).
    Damn dude, I really didn't need this on a Saturday evening. Thank you for the amazing conversation, though. Putting aside Dr. K's brilliance, you did a really great job going beyond the surface and directly addressing the concepts that make this interview so powerful.

      It's really as easy as Mr Beast says: "make the best videos possible".
      You need to pick a niche (a type of topic that you talk about e.g. Fitness, American politics, car reviews, mobile gaming etc.)
      Then you need to learn how to edit videos so they are interesting. There's a bunch of free RUclips tutorials for that.
      Then learn how to make good thumbnails. This involves learning photography skills and Photoshop (once again there's free RUclips tutorials). You can take inspiration from other people.
      Then learn how to read RUclips analytics. Mainly learn click-through rate, watch time, and average percentage viewed. Once again - RUclips tutorials.
      You must be willing to commit for 1 year before you see any significant results

    • @Hemlocker
      @Hemlocker 8 месяцев назад +3

      Focus on making good quality videos, above all. It's better to spend 10 hours researching and crafting a video that you're really interested in, than to spend that time figuring out how to make clickable thumbnails for a video that you don't really believe in.

    The opening preview at the start of the video is a bit overhyped, too much hot air and bullshit bravado. It’s a complete mismatch from the minimalistic podcast setting and the laidback atmosphere of the actual discussion. The gap between the “announcer voice” and the in-person interview voice was pretty noticeable. The host sounds pretentious and is pretty weak in terms of charisma, flow, and overall eloquence. He fumbles over words and mushes them together. Also he can’t really banter at 2:24
    11:13 uses a lot of flowery language to just say “the theories in school never helped me change”
    11:44 “What was prompting that decision for you?” should just be “What prompted you?”
    There isn’t really an overarching direction between questions and the host’s follow up comments feel hastily attached and disjointed. Example being 19:24
    This definitely feels like the member of a more established business/management service breaking into the podcasting scene.
    I could pick out more things, to the benefit of this video creator. Overall, this video was really hard to watch. Level up your speech skills.

      I think the western view of detachment often gets mixed up with concepts like contentment or happiness.
      Like "What do you want?" should also be the first question. The next one is "Why?".
      Wanting a Corvette and spending tons of money to get people's approval to hopefully get a girl and your friends to like you is one thing. But planning to get a Corvette because it gives you good memories of your dad and wanting to pass those memories on to your future family is way different.
      Wanting is not the enemy - looking for what you want in the wrong places is i.e. if your friends or a girl mainly like you conditionally you are gonna have a hard time feeling genuinely loved
