      Glad I could help, it turned out well for a first attempt. The only thing I could suggest is use 10mm plate where the adjuster bolt goes through, I had 6mm and it bent under pressure. That is an awesome result for your " crushing machine " Pete. It looks phenomenal. Jason from Mount Baker Metal and mining ( MBMM ) makes some amazing mining equipment in-house by hand. He makes some great crushers and mills. You did an outstanding job creating yours , the both look professional....must be the coat of paint 🤣🤣🤣. kidding . Can't wait to see it more in action. If you use a magnetic tray underneath, then it will grab the Spalding from the crushing. See you soon my friend . Cheers

      @PetesGoldAdventures  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Steve, It came up well, there a lot more involved than the hammer mills and a good coat of paint sets them off, metalic grey out of a spray can. I have another video using both crushers coming out soon. The magnet won't help much as it will pick up more metal when it goes through the hammer mill, I just use a magnet in the final clean up. Thanks for watching, cheers.

      @@PetesGoldAdventures I have a question Pete...the weight with the handle attached , can it be changed to an offset longer handle? For the purpose of comfort..I was watching you spin it fast to work a faster crush..and I noticed how fast you had to spin to maintain the power of the crusher . Less effort and energy to spin with a longer handle . Plus it won't stop you as much or as hard . Totally just an observation and you don't have to do anything about it...especially if you're hands are comfortable using it the way it was made. Thank you for your response and for your patience with me on this question. Cheers my friend

    • @PetesGoldAdventures
      @PetesGoldAdventures  2 года назад +1

      @@stevezozuk9622 All good Steve, I think It would work better if it spun faster, its not to bad, although it does raise the heart rate a little, but when its spinning the rotational inertia is high so you don't have to put a lot of effort into it. The ideal thing would be to fit a small electric motor to it or maybe a battery drill and then it would be great to use. I'll have another video out soon where I crush about 15kg, enough to fill 3 gold pans.

    Great job....
    You need to support your fixed jaw accross it's full width other wise when load it will want to pivot on your adjustment bolt.
    You will need to bolt it down also.
    Your pivot for your jaw plate would be better placed at the top of it.
    Great job for a back yarded though.

    • @PetesGoldAdventures
      @PetesGoldAdventures  2 года назад

      Thanks mate, its a first attempt and there is a few improvements to be made, the big one is the adjuster plate, even though its 6mm and only 90mm wide its flexing and appears to be bending, so that will require work to stop that. Its a good start and is already making crushing easier. Thanks for your advice, Cheers.

    Great stuff Pete. Awesome work on the jaw crusher, as with all the gear you knock up in your shed there. Couple of tweeks that you mentioned and it will make short work of anything you chuck into it. Might have to something similar for myself. Smashing down the quartz to fit in the hammer mill is the biggest and hardest part of the job. Awesome work 👍

    • @PetesGoldAdventures
      @PetesGoldAdventures  2 года назад +2

      Thanks Jamie, it turned out well, but the adjuster plate on the back is flexing and it stops the quartz from popping, I'll weld a long connector nut on it as the thread is binding and then brace it. I'll weld on a couple of small ramps to the bottom of the main plate to give it more movement. First i thought there was not enough oscillation, but if you had any more it would jamb up. Should make one mate, makes it a lot easier than the old dolly pot.

      Hey Daniel, I don't really have any plans, I only did a drawing of the end plates and thats about it. The end plates are 220mm high x 200mm x 6mm, the jaws are 200mm x 90mm x 10mm, the shaft is 5/8 bright steel. The oscillation is only about 6mm, you'll see the 5/8 shaft welded inside a tube, that tube was about 30mm OD and turned down for the bearngs. That's the guts of it, If you watch the video you'll see the most of it as its assembled. I did just make it up a little as I went, found some things didn't work and just altered them. I do need to tweek a few things, I'll get it in another video once I have made the changes. Hope this helps.

      Not likely mate, the crusher would have a lot more lift than your vans little bump stick.

      Thanks Ben, Na mate, It's hard to find the time to built them, started this one last December, I'm sure the next would be faster as I've worked out a few bugs already, couple more still to sort.

      They take a bit of work, but they work well. I still need to do some adjustments but as a first attempt it works well, I've just had too many other projects on the go to get to it. Cheers Pete

      Nice mate, you an old bike fan? There's a 1980 PE 250 T and a 1983 PE 175 D, hiding there, the 175 is actually a rare model, you never see too many D's you'll only see the Z's everywhere, might be my GPX 6000 fund one day.
