@@shannonm2689 Good morning, Shannon! Thank you, yet again, for watching and for your lovely comment. I’ve been to Arrowhead Provincial Park once, but just for a day hike. How’s the camping there?
@@Womaninthewoods13 its good some nice trails ice trail in the winter they flood the sites for a nice ice trail bugs in the summer as normal as it gets anywhere you go nice staff
Such a beautiful site and camping trip ❤🏕️. Your tent looks similar to the OneTigris Backwoods Bungalow 2.0 that I've been really interested in trying out. Lots of good reviews on it and I love the awning capability of it. My only hesitation is I like a tent that is both 3- and 4-season capable. Being able to close off or open up all the mesh on a tent is a nice option, especially up near Algonquin where it can be a beautiful shorts-and-t-shirt hiking weather I'd 25°C during the day but then drop to a chilly and foggy breath 6°C at night. I used my Woods Pinnacle 4-season at Canisbay and Pog Lake both times and I was so glad to be able to close up the mesh because it got pretty chilly at night 🤣🥶.
@@generationxdad I focus getting my warmth from my clothing and my sleeping bag, rather than my tent. Until snow is a factor, this tent works, with the right layers and the right bag. It’s more versatile and practical than fulfilling your warmth requirements from a tent. Just my opinion! Great to hear from you, Gen X Dad! ✌🏼
@@Womaninthewoods13 Yes I totally agree and I should have worded myself better 😆. I wasn't trying to talk you into a different tent or to try and change your mind, and I have no doubt that you've found what works for you 😊. I also make sure that my sleep system can easily handle the temps, and it is definitely my first line of defence against chills as well. I have a cozy 0°C rectangular canvas and flannel bag and a thick 4" self-inflating foam mat for chilly weather car camping and it does work well. The one change I'll be making in my sleep system is upgrading to an even colder temperature mummy bag because I am an active sleeper and often work my way up toward the end of the bag which can let out some heat through the night 🤣. It is nice to be able to keep chilly winds from blowing through the tent mesh, especially when camping at sites in Parks that are along Lake Erie. I know that waking up those mornings in Algonquin to feel the noticeable difference between the outside air temp and inside the tent sold me on dual purpose 3- and 4-season models😁.
As someone else mentioned I get so much peaceful enjoyment from watching you hike and camp. I don’t get out near as much as I’d like to (although I am going to Gatlinburg next week! Whoop 🙌🏻) so there are times that watching you is as outdoorsy as I get for the week. What a nice quiet peaceful spot. No obnoxious neighbors like your last one. I’m so curious to see the next vid with the BEAR 🐻 I hope you made it to your appointment on time. I’m guessing you like the foldable mat better than the blow up sleeping pad because I see you’re sticking with it. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!!!
❤️❤️❤️ What is in Gatlinburg? Yeah, I’m done with inflatable mats and pillows! I did make my appointment! I’m so glad you get enjoyment out of watching my videos, Beth. You’re the best! 🥰
I've never seen a bear either, and it's strange because of the amount of time that I've spent in the woods. Apparently I saw one blueberry picking when I was very young though.
I have used a bear bell in the past but these trails are so wide that vision is excellent, no need for the constant ringing of a bell. Singing also works to create noise when I am ever in an area where trees are dense and vision is limited. 😊✌🏼
@@Womaninthewoods13 while I have used one in the Fall, it may act as a dinner bell 😄, the annoying sound also alerts the wildlie we do want to see! As you point out any sounds are good, I can’t sing, but I do grunt and groan a lot!
Hi, I’m really enjoying your videos 😀. Do you find the inflated packraft awkward to portage? Which make and model is it? I’d love to try one out as a replacement for solo canoeing. Thanks for the help!
@@FilmMission Not if you make it and dehydrate it yourself, however! Which I often do, but sometimes I want a change. But, yes, you’re right! Also, so many thru-hikers indulge in candy and cookies and all kinds of junk. If ever there was a timetable do that, though, I suppose when you’re hiking up mountains for 10 hours a day, that would be the moment. Like anything else in life, it’s all about balance. 😊✌🏼
