  • An unusual Hoya for its upright growth structure, thinner leaves, and unusual flowers, Hoya multiflora has taken the #38 spot of "365 Days of Plants". It's commonly known as the Shooting star hoya for the way that its flowers look and hang down like a bunch of shooting stars.
    I'll go over care tips for this plant, including lighting, watering, growth structure, where it's native to and more!

    Hi Summer, thanks for the information. I just also want to mention, in case folks don’t know, that you shouldn’t cut off the flower spike after the flowers drop. It will rebloom on that same stalk over and over. Found this out accidentally. Mine is certainly a very slow grower too. I am going to repot it soon (after this flower is done) and hope that will help it get bushier. Right now, there is just one branch. Is there a way to get it to branch out more?

    When dealing with Hoya Multiflora in regards to cuttings and propagating, is the same as other Hoyas?

    The flowers look like little dragon heads to me.

    Do h. multiflora and papaschonii have similar care requirements. I just got multiflora "penang island" and the cutting looks very similar in leaf and growth structure. They both seem more terrestrial comapred to other hoyas.
    My papaschonii does very good in a diy self-watering system with a little piece of rope as a wick and I am thinking about a similar setup for the multiflora.

    Well I do certainly hope they kick us out! 😏 We terrestrial people are tired of being the red headed stepchildren of the hoyas. I always manage to sneak one into all my plant friend's collections if they don't have one.

    So it might not be a hoya?

    • @mateol.tancredi2983
      @mateol.tancredi2983 3 года назад +1

      We still don't know, that's the issue. A lot of hoyas were in the dischidia and asclepia genus before being hoyas, so we don't know yet, wouldn't be surprised if this hoya along lockii and others are moved into centrostema, still in the milkweed family.
