I think Mariah doesn't always believe in herself and most of the times is because of her nodules and the toxic media that is always so mean to her. I see a lot of people doing worst, sometimes even "sing"in playback but no one talks about that...but when it is with Mariah people are obsessed with her performance and vocals. Is really unfair to an amazing artist like her.
You’re so right, even in that Jamaica performance, people focused only on the one performance that was lipped, not the other almost fully live performances with vocals that are up to late 90s standard and even better
I definitely agree that’s why she’s my biggest inspiration her voice is just unreal so people expect perfection and she can’t always do so and when she can’t people tear her down and that definitely affected her especially now.
I don’t really understand why social media is nasty with her.... Maybe Jealous to the queen, a true artist a gift from God.....

She was DEFINITELY nervous for the “Don’t Forget About Us” performance for AMAS. Her ear monitors wasn’t working and her dress wasn’t properly sewn on right. So I get why she was nervous during that performance. But she powered on through!

I don't think Mariah was nervous on Can't Take Away From Me Billboard, I mean if you watched the whole show she was running on stage like Hussain Bolt. lol Her stage presence was incredible and she can't do that when she's nervous she just had a different attack on the song.

1) VOL - She was sick with bronchitis.
2) CTTA - Her voice was in better overall condition during Charmbracelet than Rainbow.
3) OSD - I would hope to sound as good as she did at the Grammys. Idk if that counts as a nervous vocal like Fantasy.
4) Grammy’s - She was out of breath from the first part of the medley.
5) DFAU - She was out of breath b/c she was running late & her dress broke in the back so she had to stand a certain way.
6) Emotions - Her throat was dry & that corset was way too tight for her to breathe properly.

In recent years, I’ve heard people say that Mariah was NEVER a consistent singer. It used to surprise me. Seeing compilations, like this, shows me, those people were right. Especially during award shows.
Back in the 90’s, the only performance I remember thinking sounded a bit “shaky” was Fantasy, at the 96, AMA’s.
Also, when she sings Vision of Love, today, it reminds me more of debut era, vocals. I didn’t realize this, until started listening to earlier performances and comparing. I was stuck on the Mariah, who’s voice SOARED, during the Daydream era.

I think you should use Relaxed vs Tensed instead for a more Accuracy. Because she could be confident at stage presence but tensed at vocal and shy but with a relaxed vocal.
