SAME! Whew my respect level when she called out these essential oils. Literally liked the video immediately and am about to go watch her other videos. I'm considering making this for mom. I just use gel (a xanthan and flax combo) but my mom prefers creams. I already have this stuff on hand so I'm like.... 🤔
Jamille Wade same here!! I keep watching, hoping as most of the DIY’s I watch are so cringy using no preservatives when they use water but I absolutely loved the explanation between antioxidants and preservatives and the importance of both! I will be making this for my coily hair babies ❤️❤️
How do you measure the preservative based on the percentage? Like, you did the math, but what do you use to measure out that 1% from the preservative container? That’s the last thing I need to understand so I can make this
Between this and the hair oil, I really wouldn’t know what to do with myself if you sold these! I don’t usually comment on videos, but the attention to detail and editing you put into your projects are phenomenal. Please continue creating this beautiful, helpful content for us 🙏🏾
I literally was wanting to make a hair cream..(tired of store bought)..didnt know how or what to use besides shea butter but THIS was right on time! Can't wait to try yours!
Thank you. People avoid mentioning preservatives like the plague when they actually help you save a pretty penny and keep your products alive for so much longer.
I just want to express my appreciation for the quality of this video. The editing and production is top tier. The work you put in is apparent. Beautiful job!

DIY veteran here - everything I wish I would have known about preservatives before I went crazy DIYing! You go, girl! Looks beautiful, great editing, you broke everything down so it was nice and easy to follow, without overloading us with details.
I usually use aloe Vera gel for my twist out cuz it gives a good hold with no crunch and gives my hair some moisture but i am very interested in trying this!
This has got to be by far the best authentic and helpful video on steps to creating your own hair care product. ALL NATURAL with minimal preservatives! No acids and other chemicals! Thank you so much!
Ohhhh, this recipe is the TRUTH! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing! I tried it and literally do not need to use any other products! Adding my preferred hair oil as you suggest allows me to combine two steps in one. My hair is super soft, super shiny and so hydrated! I love this stuff!
I make hair and skin products as well and I am so happy to see you not only making but telling the truth to use a preservative! They are so important. I also appreciate you studying to know the difference between antioxidant and preservative!
well done for letting people know that Vit E and essential oils ARE NOT preservatives. Unfortunately there are still many people out there that insist that these products are. One needs to use a broad spectrum preservative. I use Germall Plus however, Opitphen is a good choice too.
I use organic vodka in my hair and body butter to prevent spoilage, its amazing for hair! Also vanilla extract as natural preservatives 😊. Thank you for sharing this great recipe
🔥😍Great vid! Please do consider putting this product for sale!!! no lie would buy for my kids and myself. It's crazy but I actually enjoy watching people do DIYs like these but for the sake of my kitchen and the saving of time,I'd love to purchase this because I know that it's a pure product for me to apply to my children's hair. Our hair's health has improved since watching your videos and trying some of your other tips and recipes.
Hi Bri, lovely video. Just one tip if you added a natural w/o emulsifier it would help bind the water and oil phases a bit better and stabilise your formulation better. Much love.❤️
Absolutely great video!! I'm glad you talked about preservatives and how much to use. It was very helpful and plz make a separate video on preservatives.
Jonathan Emmanuel I definitely heard it as well. Maybe she’s been talking to people with the same accent. I don’t live in my home state anymore but if I speak to family from back home for a while on the phone then i notice and other people notice that my accent is a little more prominent than usual.
Wow I literally just posted asking if she had family from the Caribbean because I’ve never heard any remnant of an accent from her until this video. That’s funny.
I feel like RUclips was literally reading my mind. I decided to go heat free all of 2022. I’ve already been chemical free over 14 years but I feel my hair is damaged from being blow dried and flat ironed too much. It’s March now and so far no heat, but now I need to define and embrace my curls and my unruly baby hairs. I’m going to save this and watch again where I can write all of this down. Thank you so much for reaching back and sharing❤️🙏🏾
I would recommend adding some citric acid to the mixture. It will stabilize the pH since Opthiphen+ works best at a lower pH. A lower pH will also give more definition, and won’t dry your hair out since you have other moisturizers in there. ☺️
I swear you are the natural hair queen. You encouraged me to start going the natural route when it comes to products and how to properly take care of my hair please keep thriving😭💙✨ Edit: please make a line and get your coin sis
Thank you sooooo much for the preservative breakdown measurements... I literally been down a rabbit hole trying to understand measurements and no one fully breaks it down... I appreciate you... just subscribed!!!!
The way I ran to my stove to make this I already made a shea butter mix with essential oils a couple of weeks ago & homemade flaxseed gel so i surely did add them together 😃
I am looking to restore 5 heads of hair in my house. 30+ inches, 25 inches, 15 inches, 4 inches (baby girl) & a high top fade. We are all so dry & crunchy lately. It's time. Can't wait to make this.
I'm really glad you pointed out the truth about what a true preservative is, a lot of people just say oh add vitamin e oil and it's like that is not a preservative although a lot of them will help extend the shelf like of natural products.I think it's nice to add preservative in these natural products that way you don't have to keep it in the fridge and for low porosity people like me I love anything warm on my head.
Oooh I'm so glad you recommended that strainer for the flaxseed gel because I'm definitely not a fan of the stocking method. Thanks girl!! Excellent content as always! 🤗
This video was so so well done!!!!! Well edited, the voice over and we'll though out and intelligent content! And can we just acknowledge the BUTTER CAM??? Gurl I'm sold. One Of THE BEST videos I've seen on YT hands down.
I tried this yesterday without the preservative. And omg !!!! Omg. It’s beautiful. I need to work on my proportions but other than that I am amazed. I love it. Thank you so much from London ❤️
Finally someone who properly explains the preservation process by demonstrating👏🏽👏🏽 Every time I heard someone say they used Vitamin E to preserve water-based products it made me cringe.
THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT PRESERVATIVES!! Your the only one with all these hair diys that speak about it. Can’t wait to try this curling creen. Heard great things about flax seed gel. Loved the video

Could you please sell this and the hair oil? I read someone's comment that said start a business called La Hara Beauty. I would def support. Like so many others, I would love to make this and will someday. However, my current schedule does not allow it. I work a lot and am only home to sleep. If you make this and sell it, I will buy it and the hair oil. Thank you!!!

Girl you are amazing, best diy hair video ever. I love how left nothing out. I tried my own diy and it turned bad after a few weeks with citric acid, but thanks for posting. I will certainly try again 💗
Hi Bri! Thank you so much for this video. I will give it a good try. I wish you could show how you apply it in this video but I'll check if you have a video like this. Once again thank you!!!

Wilton has silicone candy melt bottles at Walmart that are completely microwave safe for reheating and very easy to clean. They like $2 and the nozzle and cap separate for adding a closure or using the nozzle instead of the big top. Best thing I discovered for my diy things.

So glad you're clarifying this misinformation about vitamin e as a preservative.
THANK YOU a natural who uses preservatives
Thank you for stressing preservatives. I also make natural hair care & skincare products. You are doing an amazing job, keep going.
I would recommend adding some citric acid to the mixture. It will stabilize the pH since Opthiphen+ works best at a lower pH. A lower pH will also give more definition, and won’t dry your hair out since you have other moisturizers in there. ☺️
So what's the benefit of citric acid?
For pH
How much citric acid would be added to this batch?
Should an Emulsifying wax be added so its not so lumpy?
@@DymoneyeZz : That would depend on the final weight of the batch and also the final pH. More can be added to determine the desired pH
