Alex, thank you for making and sharing your beach and rock fishing videos. Your experience and know- how is second to none. You are an absolute legend and it is a privilege to know you. I recommend anyone interested in beach or rock fishing, regardless of experience, to contact Alex and organize a charter. Alex will help you catch your target species whether it be whiting, bream, flathead, mulloway, yellowtail, salmon, tailor, trevally, snapper, groper, blackfish or kingfish. I can’t thank you enough for the many years you spent teaching me and now it is so wonderful to see you in your videos sharing information with everyone. Thanks again.
Used to catch heaps of Bream and Whiting with Blood Worms out of the Lake. Been illegal to dig for them for ages. Use to get Blue Ringed Oco's in my shovel.
G’day Alex, good to see you still out and about again. I used to love watching with Rex all those years ago. Keep up the great work mate and enjoy your fish.
G'day Alex cought some yfw last Saturday out on our northern flats,I'll be using your paternoster rig at Berry Bay on lower York Peninsular at the end of March trying for King George, flathead and salmon I'll let you know how I go,I've also upgraded my hooks to longshank 2 from 4 they are much better.
Very nice Alex a lot different to our yellowfin whiting fishing as we fish large open flats i personally use mustad longshank no 4 with a 30 mm piece of red tube over the hook eye and beach worms with a small running ball sinker great video looking forward to the next one cheers for now John.
Hi John I prefer to use the larger hooks in the surf to reduce deep hooking undersized fish. It when using squirt worms, skinny baits a no-4is ok especially estuary fishing.
G'day Alex I've made up a couple of your improved Ballisimo rigs I'll be using no 4 longshank whiting hooks and fishing at Maslins Beach for either mullaway, king George Flathead or sand whiting and beach worms for bait I'll let you know how I go cheers for now.
@8:47 Admire your respect for the fish in the way you return it to the water Alex. With the pressure on our coast and critters of all kinds this is what we want our kids to see.
Great point about hook size. Can't see too many released whiting surviving with a hook almost in their stomachs. No teeth, they just suck it straight down. Using "quick" corroding hooks might give released fish more of a chance too.
couldn't agree more about the hook size mate, as you said in someone else's comment far too many undersize fish die due to small hooks. I know some guys who use gangs to target them and I myself prefer a size 1 suicide hook with pipis. Still manage to catch the odd fish around 20cm but lots of nice whiting and bream as well, even caught a nice female flattie around 72cm. the old whiting do get a good hammering where I'm from so most go back but they're still an excellent fish to chase cheers👍👍
Hi JimJim It seems to be an old way of thinking using the much smaller hooks simply because anglers strike too soon, therefore missing fish then thinking they need a smaller hook for a better hook up ratio which is not correct.
Hey ALEX 👋 great video quality and good catch 👌 Is it important to use light setup when targeting whiting? My both beach rods are heavy I suppose, 15 to 20 kg
It's true what u say about hooks was fishing on the beach once for mulloway no luck Wolfgang was fishing for whiting with worms he gave some smallest hooks I had where size 2/0😀 still caught five nice whiting
Hi Alex, Loved the video. A great session on the beach with a nice feast of fish. A few questions ... What day were you out at the beach in the video ? How long were you there ? Who was that guy who turned up beside you at the 10m:40s time mark - is he the reason you moved ;-) ?
No I did not move because of the angler near me. I move around normally. Besides that I fish nearer than that to anglers. And it was roughly a two hour session
Hi Fred Thanks for liking the vid very much appreciated. Yes I do organise fishing trips. I am a full time fishing guide. Please send me your mobile number and I will discuss with you the fishing trip package and more. Cheers
Great video Alex! I liked what you had to say about hook size for Whiting. I have also always heard you must use small hooks, 4 or 6 for Whiting. I recently ran out of 4s and left my pack of 6s at home so used a 2. I thought this will just have to do until I get home and will most likely be too big for any Whiting. I was surprised when I got several good ones, including a pair of fat 32cm'ers. I changed back to a 4 and 6 thinking I just got lucky, then saw your video! I switched back to a 2 after that! I figure it will be better for any Bream and Flathead around too. What about estuary fishing? Do you still use a 2 for Whiting fishing in the rivers and estuaries?
For me the hook size is not just to hook less undersized fish. If your using a squirt worm bait it may be better to go to a no-4. But a no-6 is just too small. Too Many undersized whiting die because anglers use too small a hook.
Ive never had success fishing the beach during the day or afternoon, do you fish the tides? What do you look for before you head out? And also was wondering does this beach also hold beach worms? Thank you!
Sorry mate I do not reveal beach or rock spots I fish. Although happy to do that in my fishing/guiding trips with clients. And yes it is a Sydney beach
Great watching your enthusiastic fishing videos thank you Alex really appreciate your advice
As usual Alex, another fine production! Great tips and a great enthusiasm for the sport many of us love!

Finally someone who doesn't do catch-and-release of legal size fish!
Interesting rig BTW.
Hey mate
I do a combination of both. But I do like a feed of fish that's for sure
@@AlexBellissimo "Feeding a fish" describes 95% of fishing process. 😁

You were casting under your feet mate, thats a nice bag there👍👍👍

Hey Alex long time watcher first time to comment love the vids mate just one question how do you like the rod ? Thinking of getting one thanks mate
Hey ALEX 👋 great video quality and good catch 👌
Is it important to use light setup when targeting whiting? My both beach rods are heavy I suppose, 15 to 20 kg
It would be worth your while investing in a light outfit. You will get a better result👌
It's true what u say about hooks was fishing on the beach once for mulloway no luck Wolfgang was fishing for whiting with worms he gave some smallest hooks I had where size 2/0😀 still caught five nice whiting
Absolutely right Brett Too many anglers use way to small a hook thinking there result will be better
Smashing job!
Hey thanks mate 😊👍

A few questions ...

Many undersized whiting die because anglers use too small a hook.
Btw I completely switched to circle hooks and it does actually hook em in the corner of the mouth every single time
Thats s great 👍
Great video thanks I have a question about what mono main line thickness you recommend for that type of fishing?
Hey thanks for liking the vid much appreciated. You can check out the details from the description cheers
Great stuff Alex. Fantastic tips too. What was the water temperature do you think?
At the time it was about 20-21 degrees.
Cheers mate
