    You make it look so easy! I am always so confident as I walk onto the beach. But then I walk off mostly defeated. My confidence is back and I am ready for another go !. Love your all your stuff!

    Great video mate, I like the sock idea, I think my socks are too big, I will try one of the Wife's socks they would be more hydrodynamic in the swell so I get less fatigue.

    • @AlexBellissimo
      @AlexBellissimo  2 года назад +1

      Hahah your socks are making you fatigued. Thin socks are the go but you can get holes in it after a while. Besides thin socks release the smell better too.

    Good to see the aussie sock catching aussie beach worms, do the worms bite, like bloodworms?

    Luv ya work, if not a bit envious. I’m a novice at the worming game. Most (all) of the blokes up my way in Ballina, lug around big keeper bags chockablock full of frames/mullet etc to worm. They get worms, but Ive tried it, it’s a lot of hassle and work in it, for zero return (me). I was down the Gong over Xmas and spied a few guys worming with just a stocking filled with a small “stink” bait about the size of a cricket all, and they were getting worms. I thought, why can’t that work up my way. Then I watched your vid the other day and you were using the same technique. Went worming at one of the local beaches (which is a 1st class worming beach) on Tuesday. Plenty of worms, they were everywhere. Using the same technique as you, I could get them to rise, but some were a little hesitant to latch onto the stink (pillies) in the stocking. Those that did, I was just too slow/rubbish skills to catch. Went back yesterday, same, worms galore. This time I wriggled up a pippi to use as a finger bait and the worms went ballistic. No hesitation latching on to the bait, some were coming a couple of cm out of sand to have a go. But, again my rubbish skills shone through and I caught none 😀. A fair to middling wormer would have bagged out in about half an hour or so. I’m not giving up, it was a bit frustrating at the end, but not a bad way to spend an hour or so down the beach, and ya not lugging around a heap of gear or a bag full of frame and you can check the gutters. An old gun wormer gave me a couple of tips a while ago
    Tread lightly, and remember, you’re smarter than the worm. He didn’t say anything about their speed 😀
    I’ll be back!

      Hi Mark
      Great reading your story. Keep at it you will eventually catch worms. My clients that have never wormed in their life catch worms on their very first trip. They normally don’t catch loads of them but at least a couple or more. Showing how to worm was not really in the video. I will show step by step how to worm in a RUclips vid one day. As a guide I show my clients how to do it correctly. Perhaps you could ask one of the component wormers how to do it sep by step.
      Good luck in the future.
      Cheers

      Have you managed to catch a worm yet? They sell special worm catching tweezers which are dirt cheap and apparently make it very easy for those who are not good at catching them with their fingers could be worth a try.

      hey Mark sounds exactly like my story. After watching heaps of videos on how to catch worms I found a ton of worms at my local beach however as soon as I was about to grab them they were gone. Time after time. After 2 hours and 500 attempts with the same result I gave up. I did manage to grab a few but they just pulled away and if I grabbed them harder I ended up pulling their heads off 😔

    How do you store them Alex, and how long can you store them for?

    • @AlexBellissimo
      @AlexBellissimo  2 года назад +2

      You can lightly salt them for a day in the fridge, wipe off excess salt then freeze them. Or dip them in mentholated spirits for about ten seconds then drain and then freeze them.

      Put red food dye in the metho. The worms absorb and they come out bright red. Dry on news paper then sprinkle with some dry sand so they are breadcrumb. Freeze in pack sizes.

    Alex do you prefer the tide dropping to a low or start on low tide and work it up? Also do you reckon the worms get a bit stuck on the stocking?

    • @AlexBellissimo
      @AlexBellissimo  2 года назад +1

      Hi Rodney I find this can vary from beach to beach whether it is a dropping tide to the low or a run in from the low. I beach worm when I can for clients the day before.

    I’ve been fishing for quite a few years but been based in Dubbo not that many opportunities to practice catching beach worms. I’ve tried at Hawkes nest and on the Gold Coast but they are so darn quick or maybe I’m too slow. Buts it’s on my hit list to accomplish before I move on to celestial heights. Thanks for the vid gives me a better idea on waiting for them to actually bite. Love your vids.

      For worm bait in the sock you can have salted pilchards or kippers from the supermarket Any smelly bay to bring the worm up
