I had a lot of fun with that game too. Also I wouldnt be surprised if there wasn’t a japanese equivalent. There were some gba games made specifically for Western fans, like the Shaman Master of Spirits games on the GBA
IMO Beyblade G Revolution perfected the battle system. You being in complete control of the bey at all times was ideal. Would love to see a modern game implementing the same system. I imagine it wouldn't be ideal for X since any player could just go for the X line right away, but still, it can be done. That battle system combined with the modern visual elements of customization (Being able to see exactly wha pieces you're using). Add that to customization with a stat system and you'd have a fantastic game.
I've only played a few Beyblade games, out of the one's I played the Beyblade metal masters Nightmare Rex Game on the Nintendo DS is by far my favourite. I love the unique take on the fighting game genre and the beyblade customisation is basically you creating your fighter. I wish more beyblade games would try and do things like experiment with different genres. Also, I love the idea of a beyblade/spinning top creature catcher, that be cool to see an indie dev try that at one point (assuming Nintendo doesn't sue.) Also Also, Don't think I didn't notice how your footage and voice over for the first game is the same as the section you did for Ilinnuc's video. 😜
I was just thinking about theses super old games while playing the last plastic era on the gba Glad you made a video on it 🙏 I grew up with the two localized beyblade games on gba V force and grevolution, played the metal series NDS ones but have to give it to G rev as my favorite
Beyblade: Let it Rip! on the PS1 was my cousin and I's go-to source for our Beyblade fix, outside of us playing with plastic gen beys. But outside of that, there weren't really any other good Beyblade games. Beyblade is just one of those toy brands that doesn't translate well to digital form. When the most satisfying part of the toy brand is when the two tops are clashing into each other, developers back themselves into a corner trying to replicate the same feeling. It's not like with Hot Wheels where the simplistic joy of racing can easily translate into video game form, or like a TCG where you could digitalize the entire gameplay loop. Beyblade has far more going on. Too much to be confined to a gamepad and occasional button prompts.
It was nothing special, but the GBA G-Revolution game was a childhood staple of mine. I don't know what its japanese equivalent is, though.

Awesome vid, hope you continue the GBC play through
The first Beyblade game I played was like a GBA action rpg. You fought at a bird's eye view and could charge the power of your attacks mid battle.
