When this came it had no competition, nothing could touch it. It was the best simulation you could get. If I could have afforded a 3d0 at the time, I would have picked one up without hesitation.
Then when Road Rash 3DO came out I was like "Well the best game in the world exist now and I'll never be able to play it besides this demo unit in Kmart." I was happy when the Windows port finally came out though! I still play it
I don't know how my dad got ahold of one for $300 in '98 but this was the first video game I ever played. We only had this and Samurai Showdown. I played this game for hours and little babby me never got good enough at the game at the time when dad sold that beast for a PS2 when it came out.
Yes memories. I remember this and road rash. Unfortunately 3do didn’t have a competitive, creative line up of games. I also remember taxi cab game that just didn’t make any sense. Their reign didn’t last long at all
The title you were looking for is called Quarantine, released in 1995 for the Panasonic 3DO; sadly not released for other consoles or Mac/Windows PC's (at least not to my knowledge).
This takes me back to 1995 and what a great time that was! This games still impresses but what a blow to my 17yo mind then!! This--during the Genesis and SNES era was just mind blowing. So many great memories with this game, I'm so grateful...
I remember seeing a friends older brother play this as a child - I was amazed! They lived down the street from me and this game seemed way ahead of its time at my young age! I remember them offering me a chance to play, but I insisted I just wanted to sit there and watch them race over and over!the graphics were SO real! Wow, such incredible memories now that I think of it. I later had a similar feeling with Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed - I long for those feelings again!!!! Loved this video :) cheers to anyone who made it through that rambling 🍻
This is probably the best looking 3do game by a mile, the rest doesnt exploit the hardware by any means, feeling like upscaled SNES games or even worse. I wonder if people today could use a bit more the 3do hardware to do... you know, proper 3d.
Oh well... still looks better than most of the game released for this system. Can't believe we went from this to Most Wanted. insane run this franchise has got.
I had a 3DO at launch in the UK and I absolutely loved the thing, many games were actually first released on the console before the PS1 and Saturn ports came later, this is the original Need for Speed version, I played it to death along with Road Rash, Shockwave, Killing Time and my personal favourite Wing Commander 3 plus loads of other brilliant games. Great memories!
I had this with the steering wheel for the Saturn. Still remember the hours i spent on the Alpine course in the ferrari in Manual! Such a great driving game. The crash physics were some of the best ever too.
For sheer draw distance, solid textures, colour palette and stability, this surprisingly owns the PS1 version (which is faster). Fantastic looking for its age on a home console. The draw distance from 13:39 is especially impressive
I used to dream to built a 3DO into my car dash and when I'd wait to pick up friends or such, I could play this. The joy in it is how it is more of a simulator than the 50000th racing game. But a complex console like a 3DO would sure not like the winter with it's moisture. So i never dared to install one.
@@MidnightApex-ml6jc that was the only exception in my opinion. The Cannonball Run style of NFS is a format that we'll never get to see again in the future. And that 30 Seconds to Mars theme for Hot Pursuit 2010 slaps...

At the timing of it's release there was nothing like it at the time. It felt like a true next gen game at the time when comparing it to other games that were out at that time. It was the best racing game of all time at the time If u took the time to play it at the time. I would listen to Pink Floyds "Time" most of the time when I had the time to actually have some playtime. Also when I cook Prime Rib I like to season it with Thyme.
Is it normal that, this game feels more realistic to me than, every new games i see for years ? News ones looks, too clean, too flashy, (neon, led everywere). Landscapes looks more like a post card than a real road.
It looks terrible now but at the time it was amazing. This game is what made me get a 3DO. I played it almost daily for about 2 years. Had this along with Return Fire, Road Rash and Wing Commander 3. I had a few other games but these were the best ones.
I bring up those systems because ppl say look how bad the 3DO Doom is in comparison, but NFS is way more complex, showing that it's actually way more capable
Our family had a 3DO with NFS at that time. They were rare in my town but one owner was skilled enough to assemble his own steering wheel and pedals. The set gave DIY impression but was fun to play with.
it a drive simulator and not a racing video game but i can see your point sometime it also feel too slow which is kinda boring just like the real life driving lmao

I played that on a, original 3DO, it was like something from another planet. It was mindblowing. And it looked even better on CRT.

I love the little animated shifting between gear changes!
For 1994 (my birth year) looks fantastic. Imagine that you have already 16-bit machine and you bought 3DO with this game.
Thats basically what happened to me :-)....and the memories are of a lifetime :-)
Jesus, the 25 year old memory I had of that game makes it look almost photorealistic.
Oh well... still looks better than most of the game released for this system. Can't believe we went from this to Most Wanted. insane run this franchise has got.
actually the look, sound, physics are very cool. no wonder the game was a pure treasure in 1994. it looks nice even today
They say this was the top of the 3DO...
Never knew this was a 3D0 that makes so much sense now, epic.
It was the original version.
FMV's, polygons, 2D sprites... 3DO had it all.
Too bad it's price murdered it
Even sega cd have it

such an amazing game for its time! LOVED it!!!! loved my 3DO as well!
The games won't never give such good feelings to us like it used to do in that old times !
I friggin mastered this game. I had nothing else to do.
Those were the days
This ladies and gentleman was a masterpiece. And thanks to this game I learned how to drive cars in real life.

The 3DO is where NFS was born
I don't understand how the 3DO runs this but not Doom.
even SNES runs Doom, maybe 3DO just didn't port it
that because doom was ported in 10 weeks for the 3DO
On the side of the road on ads there is illuminati messages like Work Harder etc etc
I remember my cousins and I played that video game for hours during those days! 😊
The first racing game to properly take advantage of 3d graphics
That was the best nfs ever.

1994-2002 was the only time when NFS really was Need For Speed... Heck, at 1:14 They even made it's own Dolby Surround sound bumper!

My first & fav nfs ever been.
The only big drawback is the total lack of music during gameplay...

Muy bueno❤😢

There was also a tank game, which was two player. That was a good game too.
I think a tank game was Battle Sport
Return Fire most likely.

Where is the in-game music??
Wonder if the xman can be beat If he has a faster car and the player has a slower Mazda ?
Yes of course
3DO? sorry but something is wrong.
