This was a fantastic, thorough explanation of brake cleaning/fixing. The camera views were awesome as well. I’m a old lady DIY’r and appreciate being able to see exactly what you are talking about. 👍
You guys on this channel are so good at explaining while you do. And the camera is excellent at allowing people to be able to view. Keep the videos coming guys!
I love the way this guy says about cars and fixing it , than the other crew members 🤩.One A Auto is a great way to understand about cars, when it comes to do it your self.
This is the kind of mechanic that i really want to work on my car, because you are really care to do it right and right, and yes you've done it right with careful
This video reminded me of the last vehicle I purchased, my current one. It was used, and the first thing I noticed was the brakes were a little weird, they would make little noise, and they were sticky too, after a release they would keep breaking for another 10 seconds while moving, and there was bright red rust on the passenger - rear tire well, because those brakes got stuck, and whoever used the vehicle ran them super hot. So I had to replace two calipers, rear and front, all the brake pads and all the rotors. Especially the rear calipers were extra stuck, but managed to free one of the front ones and the other one was fine. When I think about through that entire time before I fixed the brakes, I was breaking on only one wheel and a half, it's kind of terrifying.
Please tell us how much it should normally cost to get it fixed. The way you did a great job here, I can guess you will honest and decent with price. Thank you
I'm going to change all rotors and shoes as well as pads on my 2000 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder. The shoes in back are rusted really bad. The rotors don't look any better. If I back into my driveway the brakes want to grab. With the other owners of Camry I don't know if they let the Camry set to long. I won't know if the calipers are bad until I have it looked at. I have pads already. I just need to get the rotors and shoes. The brake fluid is also going to be changed as well. The Camry has ABS as well. I liked this video.
I think you may get a better job by loosing the bleeder. That is a good way to vent and decompress. Re tighten it as well. After. When compressing the piston. By purging the caliper you will not push air and moisture back in system. A little messy. But everyone differs. That is my way. 🙋🏻♀️👌💭✌️
Usually yes, because it will overflow and cause a mess. But if the master cylinder is low or your brake pads are at bare metal (like here) you usually don't need to.
Nice and knowledgable vedio. Why caliper and bracket lightly not painted to avoid rusting.you explain in detail all the aspects, precautions while fixing brake problems in cars.fantastic.keep it up .well wisher from India. God bless you.thank you.
@1AAuto If there's a grinding sound from the rear brake (drum) while driving, that goes away once the brake is applied, would that be rust build up inside the drum?
Great info. I like watch others do the same as I do personally in my garage. Lets me know we're on the same page otherwise I am learning a better technique or process. Good thing you didn't break any tools on this one!
Hello thank you so much for all the great videos i especially love this video because of the aggressiveness. The videos ive seen you in i dont remember you having an attitude like this one i love it you are amazing thanks for explaining everything in detail your so knowledgeable thank you so much.
Where can i buy that caliper bore brush that was used in this video when cleaning the caliper bore inside the slider pins? Or any links where to buy. I’m located in Canada. Tks
Excellent videos overall, My noise in my brakes when i apply the brakes seems to be very unique have not heard any sound exact of all the videos on youtube. almost like a tapping sound but deep not squeaky, or a rocking back and forth of something metal(obviously) had this repaired in July 2021 same exact noise, and now noise is back, they fixed or replaced rear Drums and Hub assembly? they tried to figure it out yesterday, could not, i think it could be a lubrication issue?? which seems to fit, if you heard a noise either needs lube or is loose??? 2011 VW Jetta 130,000 kms. i think the pads are fine, rotor warped?? but you would think if that was the case they would see that, but that would be the front brakes?? but the sound seems to be the middle to the back end of the car. Suspension? the guy yesterday said something was loose there, and tightened the bolts> the noise still there.
I was so confused when you used something that to me looked kinda like a caliper tool to compress the piston on the brake caliper. He kept saying "caliper piston" and I was thinking 'wait isn't the thing he's holding a caliper FOR a piston, therefore a piston caliper?' 🤣
I got my brakes, rotors and calibers done in June, didn’t drive my car for 3 months after now my brakes are grinding what does that mean ? Do I need new brakes or does it have dust build up?
Thank you, after my brake job one of my pads wasn't returning correctly. As per your advice i took it back out and realized one of my clips barely had any grease. Apparently forgot to apply it to that clip. Cleaned it up and re-applied. Now things work great.
So my front brakes are that old and I checked my rotors and pads and they still have a lot of life to them but they squeak when ever I reverse but not while in drive does that mean that they just need grease ?
On your video at 6:20 mins im just wondering why the outter brakepad is not equal to the inner brake pad? Its supposed to be equal right! Cuz i have same feeling that my 97 toyota camry us grinding every time is press the brake really hard. But if im goona press it slowly to hard no grinding feeling..
The potential negative effects of not using a torque wrench is you may OVER-tighten the bolts which may either crack it or distort the threads .... OR ... you may UNDER-tighten the bolts in which case they may loosen over time due to vibration causing a very dangerous situation if the caliper starts to come off.
I just had a brake job done maybe 6 months ago, and suddenly my brakes are doing this. Parked at the airport for 4 days, it was doing the second I started driving out of parking. Noticed it right away and wasn't doing it before I got there, only on one side too. WTH. How does "just happen"?
Seems that the passenger front outer pad had two (what I call) shims. In addition to a factory one. Probably installed from old pads. Do not use them. Really. Only need the one attached on it. With a coating of proper lube. Good job thou. A few things I do. Some I do not generally. Everyone is different. 👍Pretty clean. One suggestion of the wheels on front are turned out it is a little easier to work on. Anyways. Thanks. 🤔🙋🏻♀️💭✌️
+TheBluegrasslady1 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
after he sprayed the whole rear wheel assembly he forgot that brake shoes are supposed to be greased in at least 2 locations on the back side so the pad slides nice on the backing plate as they go in and out with light braking

Thank you Len and 1 Auto for making such great videos for free!
15:32 Nice catch!
On one of my rotors, I'm only getting good pad contact on the top inch so these videos are helpful figuring out what the issue is.

very clear simple explanation you are very easy to relate too the way you present things

That was good to watch , thanks .

I like that this guy care about people safety
Sorry if stupid question:
Is it not necessary to open the lid on the brake master cylinder when compressing the calipers pistons?
I think you may get a better job by loosing the bleeder. That is a good way to vent and decompress. Re tighten it as well. After.
When compressing the piston. By purging the caliper

Usually yes, because it will overflow and cause a mess. But if the master cylinder is low or your brake pads are at bare metal (like here) you usually don't need to.
28:11 Can I use blue thread lock? I thought red is really hard to remove?
Hi mate your my favorite 1a auto mechanic , you put good humor entertainment to you videos , thanks from Tony from bedfordshire England

Where can i buy that caliper bore brush that was used in this video when cleaning the caliper bore inside the slider pins? Or any links where to buy. I’m located in Canada. Tks
Go to a hobby shop and get some rifle and brushes something like a gun cleaning kit they work great and fit down in the whole house
Should you have used Blue thread locker for thr caliper bracket bolts? Red thread locker you used requires heat to remove it.
Good mechanic and very informative

7:31 So I can actually use those welder's pliers for this. I had no idea. Thanks.
What are your thoughts of using anti seize where the pads slide in the tin’s vs lubricant.
I appreciate your thoroughness!
So my front brakes are that old and I checked my rotors and pads and they still have a lot of life to them but they squeak when ever I reverse but not while in drive does that mean that they just need grease ?
This is the best break job video EVER

Where is the automatic transmission oil pressure sensor located on a 08 chrysler sebring 2.4

This was awesome brother

If you do not have a calibration torque wrench will it effect the job done negatively?
The potential negative effects of not using a torque wrench is you may OVER-tighten the bolts which may either crack it or distort the threads .... OR ... you may UNDER-tighten the bolts in which case they may loosen over time due to vibration causing a very dangerous situation if the caliper starts to come off.
Perfect. Job. Have. Nice. Day. 👍

Loved the video Thanks
I’ve seen that worn to the bone brake pad before
What sander type was specifically used to clean underneath the rotor? I hope to hear from someone.
My car is a 2009 Ford Focus (I know it’s old) and it does the same noise
Look on the hood, blue Ogle Ford emblem Eureka there is your problem haha

same lubricant for pins and caliper? hmmmm
When I release my brake quickly only I hear them make a noise , but not if I release them slowing,

Did he just use the wrong grease? If that isn't silicon grease that it will destroy that rubber boot causing more issues.
must be nice to have lift and any tool needed
I didn’t know rot and rust were the same thing ?
I like it way showing
How likely a major accident happen to you because there are four brakes in the car if one fail there are still three ?
after he sprayed the whole rear wheel assembly he forgot that brake shoes are supposed to be greased in at least 2 locations on the back side so the pad slides nice on the backing plate as they go in and out with light braking
good
We can't hear the brake sound at all
