    I prefer doing many very light layers. So both Polychromos and Pablo do very well for me. I cannot do pressure or burnishing because of arthritis. The worst way to hold a pencil is using the death grip. Pencil artist Bonny Snowden says if you push hard enough to dent a ripe tomato with a Polychromos in your 1st several layers, you are pressing too hard.

    • @samsmom1491
      @samsmom1491 Год назад

      I agree with several light layers with the Polychromos. They are very different from the Prismas, but now I can switch back and forth easily. Another set I have fallen in love with are Phoenixcolor 100 Colors of China. Not only are the boxes they come in stunning works of art by themselves, these oil pencils perform beautifully, including Johanna Basford books. I have arthritis issues as well, so I appreciate pencils that 'flow' easily on to the paper.

    I know you say you prefer to use the polys dark to light, but i find they blend better if for the first layer i go light to dark, then go dark to light, that way I get a good base coat with no transition lines. I know you are an expert and better than me, its just the way I ensure i get a better result.

    Great video. I am glad you address the learning curve with the polychromos. I don’t own any Johanna Basford books yet. But I’ve been struggling with my polychromos in my Kerby books. This is helpful for beginning colorists ❤

    Since you have so many pencils, can you do a review comparing more artist grade pencils? I have prismas, derwent artist, drawing, inktense and coloursoft, blick artist, soucolor, amazon, staedtler, cezanne, fc albrecht duhrer, crayola, fc classic, castle art metallic, indra pastels, koh-i-noor magic and woodless. I have tried open stock luminance, fc polychromos and holbein. I would like more info about how the pencils I do not have lay down...before I buy more pencils.

    I totally agree that struggling with a pencil to get it to go down nicely isn't worth it!!! 👍 You love your Prismacolors, which is why so many of your videos are Prismacolors!! 🥰 I'm so glad that doing that let's you get the therapeutic benefit that coloring brings!! 🤗 I'm curious if you tried a blender on the Polychromos area that you didn't like? I could tell that you were so disappointed with the blues that didn't blend well. Even in the closing thoughts you had what l guess I would call a sigh tone to your voice like you were resigned to it. Bless your heart! ❤ If it still bugs you and you haven't tried it, give it a go and share the results. 🙏

      They are just very different than Prismacolors. If you've been using Prismacolors for a long time then go to Polys, it's a bit of a learning curve. Even the paper makes a difference with all pencils. Happy Coloring!

    With polychromos you need to build and blend lightest to dark last. It's the opposite from Prismacolors.

    Hi Pamela! Thank u so much for your video comparison about the type of paper. I'm a little bit concern about the spine of the row book because the early books from kerby rosanes have had a fragile spine and it bends quite easy. Is row more firm on the spine?

      It is usually a difference in the paper and cover at may differ slightly. In regards to this particular book, though, the UK version has a removable jacket cover, whereas the US version has no jacket. I am sure the paper is different as well. Someone has probably already done a side-by-side comparison on RUclips.
