Also the etymology for the word amateur is quite interesting! Acording to Wikipedia, its from French and means "one who loves" which I think is beautiful!
This feels so validating. When I was a kid,the mindset of my whole family weren’t rly aware of the meaning of a hobby or just even the fact I was a child exploring my chances. It was like I had to choose asap. There were so many interesting things out there but all my parents saw was “oh she starts things and never finishes” I kinda still feel whenever I have to make a choice at, that I have to stick for it for ever and the thought of making relatively important choices just gets my anxiety boiling and my overthinkerness burn with passion.
ME TOO i always liked to try new things but then was scolded for having a wishy washy personality, i would just want to try something else next. it didn’t mean i didn’t enjoy whatever it was i was interested in doing at the time either! anyway, wishing you the best hehe 🍀
This is too relatable, it’s why I chose to not do art as a major. Everyone told me to but I just absolutely dreaded commodifying my art only to end up resenting the thing that brought me so much joy. I’ve also realized that drawing has been pretty much my only outlet that I consistently go back to as I’ve always been told that hobbies are a waste if you don’t get any monetary gain (shout out to my boy capitalism)
REAL AF!!!! i’ve hesitated with commodifying my art but through social media it’s been hard to balance that creative value of doing it for me vs. doing it for what people want to see (and pay to have) WISHING U THE BESTTT
Gosh i really love the way you talk about our vision narrowing as we grow up and are forced to focus on one thing. The fact that everything doesn't need to do anything with your career is long forgotten. Many people i know have no hobbies or interests expects for entertainment shows which is very sad. They are deprived of the feeling of creating something or enjoying something. Loved your video! Thanks for sharing
OMG i didn’t even touch on this but yes!!! watching TV is not a hobby!! it’s something fun to do but i think consuming needs to be balanced with creating (or moving your body, aka creating energy) to make the most of your life 💕 anyway, thank you for your kind words!!!
This is my first time early and I found you points very interesting and I really find myself enjoying listening to your opinions and thoughts and admire the art you create through your words and the drawings
5:29 is funny to think that Leonardo Da Vinci himself was an amateur at many things at the same time until he mastered each one through the years by practice, specially since he had the tendency to give up and abandon his works with 30% of progress more of less. People would give up ordering paintings from him because he was too interested in something else to keep on painting the ones he was paid for lol
Welcome to the wonderful world of fountain pens! I recommend trying Lamys fountain pens they are beginner friendly, come in various nib sizes and in many colours! And for art I use platinum black ink (60ml). I wish to see more your fountain pen Journey!
I’ve always despised when people tried to discourage me from doing what I love; what I want to do. Also, the pressure is very hard to overcome. I’m tired of the pressure of being a “master” at a hobby so that you could make it another source of income. (Capitalism 😤)
Wowww your kakuno works so well, maybe it's the ink I'm using but mine has serious issues lol no worries though, I'll figure it out eventually. Anyway, lovely video. It's really inspiring me to give it my all in regards to drawing.
hi ! I've had a kakuno for a few months with a rechargeable cartridge. I've learned through experience that only "fountain pen ink" work with those, and other types of inks will clog up the feed and eventually destroy your pen. So i'd look into that if you're having any issues! i changed to the correct type of ink and stopped having problems afterwards.
Seus desenhos são maravilhosos, eu amo como desenha com facilidade. Eu também sou artista, mas não consigo desenhar a mão livre como você, mas gostaria muito ❤
