Tip for glass palette - use an ikea picture frame! You can just remove the back cardboard and bam - glass with a frame that can be used to scrape palette knives clean
@@Pomelo.Digital Oh yes!! Amazing!! Thanks so much for sharing :) I think everyone can find this helpful for sure
Hey jess, sorry to bother you again, you remind me of another cool calm youtuber, sarah nagel from holistic habits, you should totally check her out, not a painter, but i really like the way she tends to life, natural pure and innocent,..okay byeeeeiii😇
I try to repurpose as much as I have on hand to organize my art supplies such as an old dresser, baskets, coffee mugs and jars. Let's just call the look... eclectic, LOL.
@@dianeo YES! GREAT TIPS!!
I found it was really easy to buy cheaper art supplies when I was first starting out. BUT then when I got better and better and started investing in high quality materials and found the brands I liked, I then donated all of what I was no longer using to a friend. She took them to Africa and she and her sister were teaching art classes to children out in the bush. The watercolors were a huge success and she said that the teacher was obsessed and wouldn't stop using them. So... you don't have to send what you aren't using across the globe--but I guarantee you can find a local art teacher, preschool or even Senior Center activities director who would happily accept donations and get a lot of use and joy out of them. Now I know what I like as well and don't venture out too far of my box. And I don't feel guilty about the money I had to spend to get where I am today and while I do drop a lot of money when I need to restock, its ok :)
Wow no comments for all this well I love this
I love this!!
As a kindergarten teacher I love getting any non-toxic art supplies for the kids to use
Wonderful idea!
Thrift stores are a great choice for mason jars and other glassware. Thanks for this. I love to organize.
Yes! Great idea. Thanks for watching :)
I use italian olive oil cans! I live the art work on them
100% agree Jess. Years of experience has taught me, that if it's not organised and ready to use. You often lose that idea/spark of inspiration in just getting your supplies ready. Occasionally you lose that initial thought or idea all together!
Keep it organised and ready. You get way more done. Great advice.
Keep watching Jess and you'll do just fine. 🙂
This was so nice to watch on a saturday morning(: I've been a huge fan of your art for a while and our styles are so similar! Also sis you look so pretty in your video, you have such a natural glow!
Hi! Thank you so so much! I hope you enjoyed your Saturday more and I really appreciate your support :)
I enjoy vintage oak office furniture and Machinists chests. My graphite pencils, erasers, stumps, mechanical pencils, etc. fit in the chest. My paper supplies are in an old lawyers cabinet which has a sliding wooden slab to put paper on as you are looking for that certain type. Watercolors and colored pencils are in a lawyer stacking bookcase. I work at an old library table which has drawers for my most often used supplies. I do have a modern lamp to see what I am doing. It’s just a corner of the living room but it works for me.
That sounds truly incredible. Thank you for sharing! I wish I can see pictures! :)
I also use an old law cabinet. Designed to hold legal size forms. Inherited from my attorney Dad.
I really enjoy watching your videos, in addition to transmitting a positive energy due to your work and location.Congratulations!
Thank you!!! I am so happy it communicates to you :)
I kept watching the timer on your Instagram! I have very little space so this is definitely going to be beneficial. Many of my things are tucked away so I'm looking forward to watching this. 😊
Hahaha! Thanks!! Let me know how it goes! :) I hope you find this helpful !!!
Great video! Love organizing tips even if I do some of those things already, I always get motivated to clean up and re-organize my space :D
One add for people on a budget: Shoeboxes are great for storage. Especially those sturdier ones from more expensive brands (and those look most of the time quite nice too!) I cant afford to buy those brands but some stores are willing to to give them to you because many customers don't want them themselfs! (I worked at a store with a shoe department so my colleagues were collecting them for me, BUT if a customer asked for some boxes and we had spare ones they could have them for free too!)
Hi!! Thank you so much for the comment! I love this tip!! I have a pinned comment above for any tips you may have, I'd love if you can add this amazing budget option in that pinned comment :D It's a really great idea !
@@artofjesskarp Ah didnt see that comment. I added it there too :D
YES! when i first moved out, i used shoe boxes for almost all my storage needs!
I re-arrange all the time, I just can't relax and paint when surrounded by a mess!!! Enjoyed watching this and hearing your thoughts on the topic.
Glad to know I’m not the only one 🤣 thanks for watching :)
I clearly NEED a little makeover on my creative space and this video is really helpful to give me some ideas. Thank you so much!
Yes! You’re very welcome. Small changes can make a big difference:)
I purchased a glass cutting board and turned it upside down for the smooth side. If it's printed underneath just use some acetone to clean off the picture. Thrift shops are a great place to find these and very affordable. Also the cutting board has a nice edge to it.
Excellent video. I think it would be even better if you had added to your Recap a short visual tour of your desk and studio area!
This was so fun to watch very enjoyable and helpful. Thank you for sharing it was very helpful especially for small space organization.
Aw!! Thank you so much! I tried a little bit of a different style video :) I hope you liked it! I am really glad you found it helpful - Thanks for the comment!
@@artofjesskarp Of course! It's my pleasure! Your videos are alway encouraging and helpful you did great! :)
I found this so very useful and greatly appreciate all of the time you took to put this together!! Also, your positivity is always so appreciated! I feel so ready to now take my overflowing studio from my great room (finally) to a designated studio both for me, but especially for my incredibly supportive and patient family! 💜
The wheels! They are super important 😂 I just realized that I need them when I figured out that I need my drafting table in different places throughout the day 😂
So important!! 🤣 you only know until you have them on wheels lol hope you enjoyed. Thanks for the comment :)
@@artofjesskarp For sure I did! 😆
That was so fun! I LOVE your video corner. So cute with the twinkle lights in the background too.
Thank you!! I love it too!! Its very cozy!! I hope you enjoyed :)
Love the idea of organizing pencils by color in separate jars! And your list of discount stores.
Same here.
You're such a lifesaver! I've been looking everywhere on how to store my papers and your video gave me the answer I needed. I'm so happy!

Thank you Jess , this been a wonderful help in organizing.

Thank you Erica!!’ :)
Amazing video! You've really opened my eyes to some creative and organization tricks. Thank you so much!🤩
You’re very welcome!! I am so glad you enjoyed the video :) thanks for the comment
This was my first video of yours. I've been watching all these craft room videos, but my brain explodes because they have so much stuff. I'm doing a combo of Marie Kondo and Swedish Death cleaning to my art/craft space 😂 but it has been so incredibly hard to reprogram my brain. Your suggestions were incredibly spot on and just what I need right now. I kept putting items into where they fit and that didn't work, duh. I am a walking embodiment of "if you don't change how you do it, you will just keep getting the same results." The room is emptied out pretty much, or on the floor, but I will now use all these tips to put it back together. Thank you!
Ha thank you!!! Best wishes :)
Such a long video! 💕 I love watching art supply vids and this is such a treat on Saturday morning ☕️ 😊 thanks, Jess!!
Thank you!! I hope you enjoy :)
I know. :( I turned it off at the 29 minute Mark 😃
Your spaces’ look so inviting! I’ve been trying to give myself that extra push to tackle my space and really make it feel/work the way I want it to and these tips are so good. My biggest takeaways were creating a unified storage theme when it comes to on-hand/tabletop storage and the wide but shallow drawers so your not digging for your items and can see everything in one shot. Thanks for sharing your process :)
I've been following you for quite some time now, and as a young artist who is really just beginning to find and realise my style of illustration, you are a great inspiration for me. I really think that you'll go far, here in youtube
love from australia
Thanks for all the tips! I’ve been in my studio for over a years and I still struggle with organizing all of my art supplies. Restarting my YTchannel however, motivated me to take it more seriously so I’m not recording in a messy studio. 🤣🤣
Thanks so much for watching :) Goodluck with you channel !!
i’ve been following you for a couple years and your content never fails to be so amazing !
Thank you so much for your support ! And thanks for the nice comment
Such great organization tips! I just moved into a new room and I’ve been organizing my art supplies, and this was so convenient, thank you so much :D I always enjoy watching your videos, and I love the way you edit them. Keep going!! 🌸💗
Hi jess..👋...it's a super nice video....you are my inspiration 💖 ✨ ...it's super cool to watch your videos before .....doing a boring work ....😅your videos give me some kind of positive vibes😃love from🇵🇰
Thank you!!
Thank you very much Jess. You inspire me 💯❤️
Hi Jess, so enjoyed the video. The ideas and guidance is so inspirational! 😎 thank you!
Hi Michelle! Thanks so much!! I really appreciate it.
Hullo Jess, a true cornucopia of excellent ideas and so functional too! I have 3 rooms for Art and computer supplies! There is never enough room and being able to work in any medium when I was a working freelance artist was a must! I store a lot of finished artworks in cardboard portfolio containers stored vertically on top of a cabinet. This keeps things off of the floor and away from the damp as well!
We totally speak the same language Jess 😄 Ikea cabinets, glass jars, rollies carts and supplies organized by categorise in crates. Yup 🙋♀️ (oh, and having way too much supplies and still buy more? Guilty as well haha).
Sister from another mister? I THINK SO!! Love it! Your studio looks awesome as well. Haha Going to the art store later so wish me luck! Hahah
@@artofjesskarp Haha, I managed to over-spent when I went there last week, so let's see if you can restrain yourself 😂
Love love love your channel. I think you are doing a great job of spreading positivity with creativity! I love watching your videos to relax and feel inspired to draw and paint. I would love to see a video about your art journey and wins along the way.
Thank you so so much’! Will keep it in mind :)
U can't imagine how much this video helped me! Thank you again!
I am so glad!! Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment :)
Thank you for all the great tips
I love charity shops for beautiful containers for my art brushes etc. they can be quite inspirational too.
Hi Jess, your tips are helping me with my art area.
I've watched many "organising my art studio" videos, I gained many valuable tips and now highly inspired, thanks for sharing. Love your work, now excuse me while I start organising... naturally after liking and subscribing, of course.
YOU MOTIVATE ME TO WORK HARDER.....SO THANK YOU!
Great advice Jess!🥰
Hi Jess, it's a big G'Day from Australia here. Thank you so much for your videos I have learned so much from them. Please keep them coming. I attend an Art Therapy Class and our teacher also runs a class for children in abused families. We pass along a lot of surplus art supplies and the children are so appreciative of them. Maybe this is something everyone could possibly find in their area. I know I need to downsize again as I have a mother that will just pass on art supplies to me whether I need them or not. LOL
Love your work, art style and omg your studio!✨❤️
Thank you! Hope you enjoy the video
Thank you for this motivational video. I got right to work re organizing my art space. Made supplies much more accessible. Will paint a little later and try out how it flows! Thanks again !

I love love ur videos ^^ I am a pastry chef not an artist (I would love to be hahaha) but I share the same...my section has to be always organized I usually say that we have to be able to work blind haha I mean having everything organized in a way that we can pick up the materials we need even if we were blind. Thank you for another great video :D

Hi Jess!!! Been waiting for this video ...I really enjoy your videos very much ...will try buying these
Thanks!! i hope you found this video helpful
This video is so helpful. I’ve recently moved and now have a very small art studio. I’ve been struggling to work out a new system. I think I’ll be able to create something that works now.
It was so enjoyable to watch this organization video. Reminded me to fix mine, too. I love the OC-ness. :)
If you have the space for a rolling tool chest that has lots of smaller drawers on top and cabinets on the bottom I highly recommend that as art storage. The drawers are great for separating your art supplies and the cabinets or larger drawers work well for organizing paper, canvases and sketchbooks. Its also easy to label the drawers so that you can see what each one has in it and you can add smaller baskets inside for further brand or colour sorting.
thank you so much! That's great advice! I would love to see your set up
Excellent, Thank You!
Thank you so much, this helped me so much!
You’re very welcome !! :)
I guess my room will finally look organised after this useful vid

I bought a drafting table and an old steel small card filing drawer system for $20 from a yard sale.... ....bought a heavy steel John Deer fender toolbox for $20. Have some free road furniture too.
I have a very small space with just a bed, half of a desk and 2 long drawers. this video was very helpful thank you because I wanted to start creating more
Great ideas, Jess. Thanks for all you do. My fave tip was the portfolios.

@@artofjesskarp how can I not enjoy any of your video☺️
Currently I have a box of art supplies and some on my desk. It’s a small room and a small work area I’ll try these I’ve got space for a storage thingy
Awesome!’
Thanks for the tips!
You’re very welcome ! Thanks for watching
I feel like I want everything of both worlds. I want to be able to save and hide everything so everything looks super clean and taken away but then when I'm working on something I want absolutely every tool visiable mainly because my bain sure will forget that I actually have something that might facilitate whatever I'm doing. having modular trays that I can take out when I strart a proyect is a nice idea. I'm also thinking of DIY a cabinate that I could like open up or slide the doors away and every tool is visiable and ready. I have seen some mechanich rooling door cabinates that might help but I need something more fancy and delicate. Love the video and your hair haha. Thanks!
Yes.. I can relate. It’s not easy to find the balance. But with a little trial and error it can work!! I’d love to see your DIY CABINET! I’m sure it’ll be great. Thanks for watching and for the kind words :) I appreciate it and hope you found this helpful!
Love your videos so much ❤️
Thanks! :) Hope you enjoy this one
Take ALL the things to the island!!! ❤️
🤣🤣🤣❤️ OK you’re right
I really love watching your vids and I am your very big fans. Love you Jess.❤❤❤
Thank you so much ! I hope you enjoyed :)
@@artofjesskarp Yes so muchhhhhhhh.
I use a glass shelf that I found in the as-is section in ikea as my palette. I designate an area for each type of supply in my room so when that area gets full I only keep my favourites. That way every thing in my room is only stuff that makes me happy. I use the Andrew Mellen stuff triangle for organising, with the bullseye technique for placement of items. It makes me feel content in my creative process/space.
I used a tempered glass shelf as my pallet, also. I bought 4 shelves from a retail supply shop. I like how easily the paint mixes on them and how easy it is to clean up when done.
ohhh the addiction 😂😂 my happy place
love your work👸 🦸♀️🦸♀️❤
Thanks!!
Pencil caddy for colored pencils or graphite are great. They have six cups and handle. About 4 or 5 bucks at Micheals.
Awesome thank you!!!
I have a question regarding pencil stored in glass containers, what do you do when the pencil gets smaller than the height of your jar? I noticed then I have a hard time reaching or I stop using because it’s such a small size I can never find out that it’s there. Any idea on how to use up in store pencils that became a smaller size…
I think the answer might be to store them flat in trays/utensil organizers that you can get to quickly or put on your workspace, as demonstrated in the first part with graphite pencils. Or just have a tray (or trays) dedicated to pencil stubs, and see if that works.
YOUR SOOOOOO GOOD AT DRAWING
Wow. So amazing artwork.
Good job dear friend ❤😊🤗
Thanks!
thanks for this helpful video ^_^
