Victoria Gedvillas mam can I have some art supplies which you wont be using because I can’t afford them but I really need them to do more art, please reply Instagram- sur._.b
Victoria Gedvillas They do! Lol, I just got some more the other day 🙈 they aren’t the best, but I can use them freely without the looming fear that I’m “wasting them” haha!
Yeah, same. I promised to myself a while ago to only buy things for specific projects (instead of just for fun) and to use up all the things I already have. And sometimes, although materials are pretty, I said to myself to not buy them again for envoirenment reasons. Like, I can't stand all those plastic pen barrels that go into the trash once they're used up. So I slowly switch to inks in glass bottles, use converters for fountain pens/ water brushes and hang on to my Copics bc they're refillable. XD It ain't easy but in the end I don't have too much stuff and can focus better on a few mediums.
Dont ask why but I got hit in the feels when you said goodbye to your Gansai Tambi. I got my set inspired by you! You've made such great pieces with it :) but I would absolutely LOVE to see a whole video dedicated to the Japanese watercolors @ the 8:27. I remember seeing pearfleur using it! Can only imagine how much you'll love them!
The way you handle and hold your art supplies nearly brought tears to my eyes. I can tell how sacred they are to you, and when you say goodbye, you were thanking them for all the memories and lessons they've brought you. You made me want to go through my own collection, reminisce, and say goodbye to old friends that might find new life in new homes.
honestly cleaning and decluttering really helps me know which supplies to store on my desk or away. it really makes me personally more productive. I really enjoy videos like these
Girl I can’t part with my art supplies like that.. even the ones I don’t reach for anymore I see em all as my children! you have a looott of courage !!
This is why it's amazing to pass stuff down to my kids. Never once have I done so and regretted it. Not only because it's so fun seeing what they create with the supplies, but because they were things that I genuinely wasn't using anymore or didn't enjoy in the first place.
Zayden Elliot i don’t have kids.. i WOULD pass them down to my niece who is taking an interest in art but she doesn’t really value things.. i gave her my 72 set of prismacolor colored pencils and last time I went to visit her they were all strewn about the floor and looked so destroyed lol.. i hate the thought of my well taken care of art supplies being treated like that 😵
@@ArteDeMarte I totally understand and it is certainly difficult to witness sometimes, trust me my kids are art supply monsters haha. however if it's just going to sit in the drawer and not be used I'd rather give the the joy and experience of their use to children because creative outlets are one of the most precious gifts a child can grow up with IMO
I limit myself in terms of mediums. I bought a couple of pans/tubes/bottles of each brand of watercolor/gouche/ink/pencils for testing before I decided to get a set of something that was good quality. That way I have only one brand that I know I will use for each medium. My paper addiction on the other hand.....😂🥺 I actually went to go plant trees because of the guilt...SOOO MANY kinds of paper.

I cried when you sorted out the Daniel Smith paints. 😭 But you where way more good at this than I was, did just a declutter of my artmaterials myself. Separationanxiety at its best.. 😂
Whenever I came across a new medium I was like trying them all. Being a crafter in the first place made it even worse as every brand offers the own product like let´s say watercolor crayons. I decluttered stuff like colored pencils, brush pens, pastels which was easy because I was into watercolors. A year later I decluttered my watercolors as I had bought so many sets. Lately I am into acrylics but somehow I am not so engaged. Unlike watercolors where you find a ton of videos about favourite pigments, brands, brushes, papers, palettes aso there isn‘t a lot similar for acrylics. During my decluttering process I sometimes have a kind of love/hate relationship with some products like I sell them, miss them, buy them again, sometimes get rid of them a second time, but no now I want them back... In my opinion it is worth to invest in artist quality and to be not afraid to use your stuff. There are so much influences to get cheap art stuff and especially among crafters there is so much stuff around. So you often end up buying several cheap options to find the hidden gem while you could invest in better quality instead. Sometimes it is good to change a product to your needs. So maybe you are overwhelmed by your set of 120 colored pencils or your 48 watercolor tin. It might help to go for a smaller set instead of getting rid of the product in general. Vice versa, you might get better use out of it, when you combine smaller sets to get a large one. I also agree on having easy access to your stuff. For me, the best way is to store things like markers, pencils without their original packaging.
this is interesting to watch. im glad you are giving useable art supplies a proper home where they can get used. also once you showed that col-erase drawer i was shocked. so many pencil stubs...

I have such a tiny space and also need to have everything within reach in order to remember it exists. When I see I haven't used something in a while I'm just like "well clearly i need to make MOAR ART!" Thus I tend to pick a brand and stick with it. I got the gansai tambi pretty much just because of the stylish box, but I still rarely ever use it, boo. But there are so many watercolours I want solely for the tins! That glittery square palette has been on my Wish list for a while just because it is glittery! lol If I go back to a day job, oh it's all over for my wishlists. I'll mount that sucker to the wall.
