Yeah it's weird, I'm Egyptian so I wondered why they didn't include it. maybe Egypt gained independence but Sinai was still part of the British empire until later, so the video creator included the first map of Egypt after independence. I'm going to do a quick search and update you on this
@@FrenzyBenzij From my quick search about it, no that didn't happen. After Egypt gained independence the British still had a lot of control on the government and Egypt was kinda only "partially-independent" but when Egypt gained actual full independence, Britain wanted to take the Suez canal by war so three nations formed an alliance, Britain, France and Israel. But after a week or so from the start of this war they returned defeated and couldn't take anything. So Sinai have always been a part of Egypt since hundreds of years ago and even during it's occupation and after it's independence. Except for the six years between 1967 and 1973 when Israel took over it but Egypt regained it. So yeah Sinai was never exclusively a part of the British empire. But again I didn't do a thorough research I just looked around in Wikipedia so I might be mistaken.
@@TheLightingPerson Well yes, but actually no. On 1 July, 1867, the British North America Act officially proclaimed Canadian confederation, forming a federal dominion comprising Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. This meant that, although not under the direct rule of the British Empire, they still weren’t fully independent either. Australia federated into the Commonwealth of Australia on 1 January, 1901, marking our independence, whilst New Zealand became a dominion in 1907, giving them self-governing status. In the video, the Statue of Westminster, which was passed on 11 December, 1931, was used as the date for all three countries’ independence. This act removed Britain’s authority to control the dominions and made them fully independent, sovereign nations.
I don’t think most of these colonies took inspiration from the US (the French Revolution certainly did tho) most of these were given independence by the UK after WW2 due to U.S. pressure (taking away economic aid - Marshall plan)

Boring fact: only 13 states of the US got independence from the UK. We never ruled Florida, Texas, Louisiana, the mid-west, the west or Alaska. In fact, after 1776 we briefly ruled Hawaii and had claims in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming as part of the British Columbia District (not D.C.!).
I don't think the UK ever ruled Hawaii. Had influence over? Oh clearly, just look at the flag. But any chance of Hawaii being a colony got thrown out the window when the US put it in it's sphere of influence.

World War I Over 1 million Indian troops took part in World War I for British, out of which 75k died. Fought against German Empire. After winning WWI ,Indians thought British might give them Independence. British had no interest to leave whatsoever. *World War II* Over 2.5 million British Indian troops fought all over the world & 87k died. Indian National Congress criticized Nazi Germany, but they would not fight them until India is Independent. the British Viceroy, Lord Linlithgow declared India's entry into the War without consulting prominent Indian Congress leaders who were just elected in previous elections. To that INC started Quit India Movement, refusing co-operation with the then Govt. of British India. Around 60k INC leaders were arrested. Rebellion Subhas Chandra Bose (also called Netaji) prominent leader of Congress, volunteered to help Germany and Japan; he said Britain's opposition to Nazism and Fascism was "hypocrisy" since it was itself violating human rights and denying individual liberties in India. Moreover, he argued that it was not Germany and Japan but the British Raj which was the enemy, since the British were over-exploiting Indian resources for War purposes.. He broke with Congress and tried to form a military alliance with Germany or Japan to gain independence. Bose, with the assistance of Germany, formed the Indian from Indian students in Axis occupied Europe and Indian Army prisoners of war. Axis allied Indian troops were fighting with British Indian troops in British Burma & North-East India. Bengal Famine 1943 ever-increasing financial and resource needs due to the war, caused a massive famine where 3 million people died. Japanese invasion of Burma cut off food and other essential supplies to the region, Churchill diverted all food to Europe. Amery, the Indian secretary of state, and Archibald Wavell, the Viceroy of India, to stop exports of food from Bengal in order that it might be used for famine relief. Winston Churchill, then prime minister, dismissed these requests in a fashion that Amery regarded as "Hitler-like," by asking why, if the famine was so horrible, Gandhi had not yet died of starvation. The Allied Nations won WWII, around 30 British Indians were awarded Victoria Cross . British still had no interest to leave India. However, faced with the possibility of a massive civil unrest and a mutiny in the Indian Army, the British officials decided to release the prisoners-of-war, in addition the event became a turning point to expedite the process of transformation of power and independence of India.
@Florez India was much poorer in British rule. From 1900 to 1947 India's annual growth rate was around 0.01%. From 1948 to 1991 it was around 4.5%. From 1991 to today it was 7.5%
@Florez hmm we still are Before British Invasion, that region had almost *25%* share of world's gdp and when they left ,it was just *4%* . Obviously, *$45* trillion was leached out by British , makes sense . They left us with a poverty rate of *65%* and percapita income of just *$85* . Now the Poverty rate fell to *21%* . On the otherhand, there is no improvement in per capita income( *$2300* ) .
Yeah we federated than, but that’s just the merging of the colonies under one dominion, to pinpoint independence is much more difficult for the dominons.

Before British Raj, Bharat had 24.4% share of world's gdp & after that it was just 4.9%. They tried to destroy India every way possible.
Yea EXPECTED the US we had to fought for it but before 1776 we actually asked to be independent BUT still be under the British Crown like Canada was in the 19th century but Britain didn't want that so we had to fight to get our independent while other (expect for India they got those by a peaceful protest in the 1960s) got there independence by asking that's why their is a large gap between 1776 in 1919 when Afghanistan got it's independence in 1919 from what the US got ours in 1776

Am I the only one that is kinda feeling weird because Sinai isn't included in Egypt's map?
Uhh, yes yes you are.
Yeah it's weird, I'm Egyptian so I wondered why they didn't include it. maybe Egypt gained independence but Sinai was still part of the British empire until later, so the video creator included the first map of Egypt after independence. I'm going to do a quick search and update you on this
Update: didn't find anything, probably a mistake from the creator.
ZackDoesStuff I thought Britain held onto cause Suez Canal and then later gave it to Egypt due to international pressure
@@FrenzyBenzij
From my quick search about it, no that didn't happen.

Australia, New Zealand and Canada all got independent at the same time.

World War I
Over 1 million Indian troops took part in World War I for British, out of which 75k died. Fought against German Empire. After winning WWI ,Indians thought British might give them Independence. British had no interest to leave whatsoever.
*World War II*
Over 2.5 million British Indian troops fought all over the world & 87k died.
Rebellion
Subhas Chandra Bose (also called Netaji) prominent leader of Congress, volunteered to help Germany and Japan; he said Britain's opposition to Nazism and Fascism was "hypocrisy" since it was itself violating human rights and denying individual liberties in India.
Bengal Famine 1943
ever-increasing financial and resource needs due to the war, caused a massive famine where 3 million people died.
I cba to read this.
