- Arborist Gary Knowlton provides a tree profile for the Chinese Magnolia (Magnolia x Soulangeana). A slow-growing tree, this is a wonderful choice for an urban setting.

It's unfortunate that you didn't show how to prune the tree.
Thank you. That is why I was watching. No subscription from me.
If I wanted to know about the Magnolias this was a good video. The title of it was how to PRUNE like a pro. Said absolutely nothing about pruning. This was a waste of my time.
Hi pruning should be done for this tree only in summer and only 10% max over a 3yrs period to avoid new suckling shoots
Hope this helps

The channel is called prune like a pro. The subject of the video is a tree profile
He clearly knows his subject, but I'd suggest next time he uses a script, as he keeps repeating himself. Also, because of the title I thought the topic would be about how to prune this tree species, but he doesn't cover that.
I thought so too. What a waste of time.
And what did you prune exactly?
That's the name of the channel.
agreed with many others...i thought we would learn how to prune this when necessary.........but we did not.
yeah very nice but you said nothing about pruning
Thanks for nothing lmao
Does it highly scented or just light fragrance. . ? ?
Very fragrant, one is growing on the side of my house and we're in the North East. It's in full flower right now, April.
Wrong. Check your varieties. I have a Chinese magnolia that is hearty to minus 30F. (-30F)as it is native to the interior of Asia. I live in Eastern Washington State and it did beautifully at -26F which was our worst polar vortex minimum. Its 35ft tall. Reaches my second story window.. Perhaps it is less vigorous in warmer climates.
Can this tree grows in tropical climate?
My tree had a beautiful oval shape 2 years back , but now it is out of shape . When can I prune it ? I m in sfo Bay Area California. Some where I read to prune it after it flowers , some say in late summer . I m confused . I see few buds or fruits ( not sure ) now on the tree . Please help me when to prune
i have one but it barely grew in 4 years. what could be the problem?
Mine didn't grow much until year 5
Mine has lichen growing all over it. Is it sick? Can it be saved?
Not sick it’s fine. It’s a sign of good air quality
Is this tree hardy?
That was a waste of time!!! How do you prune it???
Get to the point. Oh, there is no point. You talk and talk like a PBS host, but I still don’t know how to prune my magnolia.
Nothing about pruning!!!
Yes he is very verbose but nothing about how to prune.
Will this tree grow in Ontario, Canada? Thank you!
Most places say zone 4 if you google it.
